What triggered everything was that Adam started writing a screenplay about his parents. Pretty much the entire thing is probably him exploring his trauma through a fictionalized meeting with his parents and Harry.
Fire theory is also interesting. At the very start of the film, a fire alarm goes off, so it's been suggested that a fire may have actually killed Adam that same day, trapping his spirit in a kind of limbo along with Harry. And thats why Adam gets progressively hotter during the movie. And song choices (I Don't Want to Set the World on Fire, "Cleaning my soul Flame on, burn desire" in Power of Love)
When Adam's family is decorating the Christmas Tree, the Pet Shop Boys video playing on Top Of The Pops was from December 1987. The film has such powerful and sad moments, but I feel it's worth revisiting because it has a few interesting interpretations. Great reaction Fabi!
Thanks! 🫶🏽 As I was editing, I kept thinking it could also be a big metaphor for his loneliness. He mentiones it a couple of times, and other characters too. It’s a very interesting movie, but I’d need to be in a very specific mood to be able to watch it again 🥲
This is one of those movies that doesn't spell it out for the viewer, leaving a lot of things open to interpretation. That can be frustrating to a lot of people who are used to being handed a narrative and conclusion by the end. What I find interesting is how many different interpretations there could be about what is actually happening here... and because it's so open, any number of them could be right. But I think that's the point. This film is ART and art always leaves you with questions. I think different people will take away different things from this film, it all depends on your own personal experience, what parts stick out to you.... and how you interpret them. This film is unique in that way and that's why I love it so much.
Saw this in theaters I was prepared for the sad family stuff I wasn’t prepared for Paul mascal to be dead the whole time I was a wreck sitting in the theater
I didn't know you're doing movies now. Now I don't know if you seen the 2016 Closet Monster, but if you haven't seen it, it's a really good gay movie and I wouldn't mind you doing a reaction to it. Back in 2017 when I first saw Closet Monster I ended up liking the movie so much that I ended up seeing everything that the actor Connor Jessup did(the actor that plays the main character). Another good gay movie I seen is 2016 King Cobra, and 2018 The Miseducation of Cameron Post. 1992 The Living End. 2011 Kaboom. There is a new gay horror movie called Ganymede that is not out yet but you can watch the trailer on youtube. There is another gay horror movie called Departing Seniors that is out now, it's a fun movie but you don't need to do a reaction to it you can just watch it on your own.
Hey! I’m just doing movies every now and then because they do take a while to edit 😂 but I love the recommendations (I have seen a few)! I’ll check out the rest 🫶🏽
