The pavers to dress up the base of the columns was a great idea!

I was trying to figure out how to make the column bases look nice without breaking the bank. I think you nailed it. I'm going with what you did. I think the pavers you bought are 8"x4" from Lowes which makes sense. Thank you!

Looks great , but I would be worried about rain over the years, creates mold, mildew inside , then eventually the post rot out.Air flow is essential to prolong the life of the wood. It would be better if the post were resting on top of any masonary work rather than inside, Good luck.

Thanks for sharing! The posts are sitting on the slab and there is a little crack around the post and bricks for air to get in but allows water in as well... and creatures. Well..so far so good!

@Todd Vance Great informational videos on the samsclub gazebo kit. I really enjoyed your backyard set up, final project came out looking great! Just a blue collar carpenters observation (Use the right tool for the job to avoid headaches): Go to home depot and rent a hammer drill ($25), that was painful to watch. No idea how long that took but I know a hammer drill would have been 10x faster and easier. Recruit your buddies again (2 guys each post), mark the holes on the concrete thru the brackets, lift up corner posts/move the gazebo a foot diagonally, then you have plenty of room to drill holes "straight" into the concrete. Move back and drive in anchors. I'd estimate 5 to 10 minutes start to finish. Then enjoy adult beverages with the buddies for a couple hours :) ***Be sure to go buy some sealant and brush seal all the wood surfaces, you will need 1-2 gallons. That factory stain is AWFUL and will blister, peel and wear before the 1st year leaving you very upset with your product and all your hard work. It's well worth the time and money to seal it.

Question the electric outlets are they set up to be hardwired or do you just run a extension cord to power them?
@ToddVance
@ToddVance 4 года назад
ya its just basically a routed out place for an extension cord...just have to plug in an extension cord yourself and you have power. No need to run electricity.

Nice Job! Are the 6x6 posts true 6x6 or are they hollow? Saw this at Sam's and they felt hollow when I knocked on it.
@ToddVance
@ToddVance 5 лет назад
I dont THINK they are hollow but they are pretty light cedar ... but once this is put together its pretty solid. I'm super happy with it.

Did you stack the bricks for extra weight in order to hold the gazebo to the ground during storms? has it worked so far?
@ToddVance
@ToddVance 3 года назад
So I anchored the legs down first but YES one of my thoughts was to give it all more stability with the bricks plus I really like the look... Did all this early spring of 2019 and everything is still perfectly fine! Everyone loves it!

Could you build the roof in sections overhead? I other words, could you build the roof overhead? (Not on the ground?)

Hello, I have to build the same gazebo but they won't build it over my hot tub. My question is after its built do you think it would be possible to have 4-8 people lift it up and move it 15 feet over the hot tub? Or do you think it will be too heavy to move even with al of those people? The weight is my gazebo will be about 750 lbs which is similar to the weight of yours I think. Thank you.

you probably have seen my comment on the other video... ya its pretty light even after complete...esepecialy if you had 8 people

@ToddVance

@RecrutaZero78
@RecrutaZero78 5 лет назад
My pavers are a little bit larger than what you used. I really liked the idea of the footers :) I’ll probably do those for the reason of stability and looks 👍

@@RecrutaZero78 Let me know how stable it is with just the footers.
@joshjones9687
@joshjones9687 5 лет назад
Please do not anchor this to a paver, it will not end well. Watch some videos on how to pour some small concrete footings. You can buy 12" concrete tube forms at your local home depot/lowes. It's cheap and super easy DIY project and will anchor your gazebo for many years of enjoyment.

Did you use concrete around those brick so they can make it sturdier
@ToddVance

No, I just used the concrete screws and brackets to screw them to my pad and put the bricks around with glue. I've had no problems over the past couple of years.

Do you think it will move if I dong anchor the legs?
@ToddVance
@ToddVance 4 года назад
Not sure really... depends on how bad of wind storms you might have... maybe just the bricks on the legs? I would think a really good wind storm could possibly get under the roof and move it... possibly?

Does the 2 roof panels meet exactly flush in the middle when jointed together? Or is there gap for a lil bit of play if not exactly squared?

No, we just bought ours. We are having pavers installed. We will have a concrete footing at the posts to make sure it’s secure. I want to make sure the electricity is ready before installation so I wonder how you did yours. I did not wanted to have cables on the pavers. Any info you can share? Thanks
@ToddVance
@ToddVance 4 года назад
@@suzettemelgar6011 so its really just an extension cord that you mount to one of the legs and have to plug power into it. Check out the end of the vid around 5:29 .. you'll see that I left the back end of my topper off so I could plug power into it. (you can also see it before the pavers at 3:15 behind me)... All you need to worry about it not going to high with the pavers.
@suzettemelgar6011
@suzettemelgar6011 4 года назад
Oh. Ok so you plug a power cord in one of the receptacles and it feeds power to the other two? I thought I had to run a line to the bottom of one of the post. Thanks

@@suzettemelgar6011 exactly, thats all it is... super simple. The extension cord thing sits in a recess and they give you a piece of wood to go over it so it looks nice.
