Fun story: I worked on this movie. Seeing Bill (Pennywise) in costume for the first time was so creepy. I had no idea what project it was because my agent only gave me the working title and not the actual title because it was so secret. My two biggest fears are needles and clowns so this movie was so freaky to work on, but seeing Bill as both Bill and Pennywise was a treat. Also when he wasn’t acting as Pennywise he was cracking jokes. It was fun to work on. But it solidified my fear of clowns. They still freak me out and scare me so much.

It's really difficult to adapt Stephen King's horror novels for cinema, because the Books are by far more scary and creepy, most of what happens in the Book just can't be shown on a screen because everybody will feel Bad or in some extreme cases I honestly think that some people could vomit if everything was like in the Book. But this adaptation is really good tho, and I agree with you the second one didn't deserve hate, Stephen King himself likes it and he really hated Kubrick's shining which is considered like a masterpiece by lots of people

Also the Kiss worked for Beverly because Ben purely believed it would. In IT, more so in the book, its explained the Power of Belief is a huge thing. You can have NO doubt when defeating Pennywise because if you do, IT will gain the upper hand.

Georgie’s death is so sad :( but it is critical to Billy’s character development. Still. They chose such a cute kid and it was a bit gratuitous. Sets the tone for the movie, invokes a sense of real danger for the children, which often isn’t present in horror films (like, yes kids get chased in most horror films but usually you know deep down, they’ll probably be alright. Adults? Meh. Who cares lmao. But KIDS? Getting eaten?! Sheeiitttt.)

I think the reason Pennywise didn't scare me in this movie is because they relied too much on CGI. The Georgie scene was creepy up until the bite because his facial structure doesn't look that good. Patrick's death was disturbing with the corpses but is then tamed completely down when Pennywise comes at him. But Bev's dad was freaking horrifying. A lot of times it's the people you trust or people that appear normal can be the scariest.

There are multiple times that Pennywise appears in the background of certain scenes. In the cellar scene, Pennywise is in the wallpaper in the cellar, and the lights that look like eyes are actually Pennywise’s eyes. Both Eddie’s mom and Beverley’s dad are watching a tv program that is being controlled by Pennywise. If you listen closely, you can hear the program telling kids to go play in the sewers. Also, in the alley scene after Ben gets attacked, when Stan leans over slightly you can see Pennywise’s face in the mural.

Yes, you have to watch IT 2. This is a very faithful telling of the story. In the book they explain how this creature has been living under the town for centuries and it's influence infects all of the adults as well. They can't see it like the kids can unless it wants them to, but the way they act all creepy and demented like is a direct influence of the creature on their adult minds. And although it likes to take the form of Pennywise the most, it appears to the kids as their greatest fears to scare them because it feeds on the feelings of fear as much on their bodies. Such a terrifying idea. In the book it says this thing is actually what killed off the dinosaurs so it crash landed here a very long time ago. It's ancient and referres to itself as the "Eater of Worlds".

Richie is not scared of clowns. He lied because he doesn't want his friends to know he's gay. His biggest fear is being outed as gay. If you watch It Chapter 2 you'll see lol. It's mostly in the book though.

So penny wise feeds off the fear of children, and can make them see things and he’s a very good shapeshifter. Those other monsters are also him. Anyways do I hear a 2nd one in the works?

With him saying “That’s how you spread diseases” during the blood oath, he did make a good point because since it was the ‘80s, that was when AIDS was going on. The script actually had one of the Losers bringing that up. But that’s why they didn’t include the blood oath for the 1990 miniseries.

The clown isn't just a clown. He feeds off of children's worst fears. He appears to each kid differently in addition to his clown form. Seems like you aren't aware of the novel that inspired this film. Not that that's a bad thing-you should definitely read the book of the same name, by Stephen King. There's a LOT more in depth detail in that book about the stuff included in the movie. This movie highlights aspects of these kids lives. It's really scary when you realize that on top of being traumatized by this alien clown thing they are also having their own struggles at home with their families and school and friends. In the books, yes, her dad was extremely abusive and Pervy, the way they portrayed that gives me chills and probably makes me more uncomfortable than pennywise. Because, you know, at least we know pennywise is always going to go for the psychological torture before he eats his victims. But the humans in this movie, some of them...you just don't know what the outcome is going to be.

This movie scared the sh** out of me when I saw it in the cinema and strangely enough, I'm getting Harry Potter vibes whenever I see the clown, its shape-shifting abilities are giving me the idea that it might well be a boggart, think about it,the boggart literally takes the shape of your worst fear, which is exactly what Pennywise does, unlike the boggart, physical attacks actually affect it and it's weaker if you're not afraid of it but it is still very much able to kill you

Great reaction as always! Pennywise dancing in the sewer in front of Bev always disturbs me. I like this one better than Chapter 2 honestly but only because they changed a lot from the book. The adult cast is great though.. James McAvoy plays Bill and I'm a huge fan since I first saw him in Atonement 🙂

Pennywise is an entity from outer space and cannot die which is something I love about the books, they way it goes in dept about his origin, the three lights on his throat that he showed to Beverly is his "true" form in some way cuz they say when humans see his true form they cannot comprehend what he is and only see him as three balls of light.....

In October 1988, twelve-year-old Bill Denbrough crafts a paper sailboat for Georgie, his six-year-old brother. Georgie sails the boat along the rainy streets of small town Derry, Maine, only to have it fall down a storm drain. As he attempts to retrieve it, Georgie sees a clown in the drain, who introduces himself as "Pennywise the Dancing Clown". Pennywise entices Georgie to come closer, then bites his arm off and drags him into the sewer. The following summer in June 1989, Bill and his friends Richie Tozier, Eddie Kaspbrak, and Stan Uris run afoul of older bullies Henry Bowers, Belch Huggins, Patrick Hockstetter, and Victor Criss. Bill, still haunted by Georgie's disappearance, calculates that his brother's body may have washed up in a marshy wasteland called the Barrens. He recruits his friends to investigate, believing Georgie may still be alive. Ben Hanscom, one of Bill's new classmates, learns that unexplained tragedies and child disappearances have plagued the town for centuries. Targeted by Bowers' gang, Ben flees into the Barrens and meets Bill's group. They find the sneaker of a missing girl named Betty Ripsom, while Patrick is killed by Pennywise while searching the sewers for Ben. Beverly Marsh, a girl bullied over her rumored promiscuity, also joins the group; both Bill and Ben develop feelings for her. Later, the group befriends orphan Mike Hanlon after rescuing him from Bowers. Each member of the group has encountered terrifying manifestations of Pennywise: a headless undead boy (Ben), a sink that spews blood only children can see (Beverly), a diseased and rotting leper (Eddie), a disturbing painting coming alive (Stan), Mike's parents burning alive (Mike), and a frightening phantom of Georgie (Bill). Now calling themselves "The Losers Club", they realize they are all being stalked by the same entity, which they refer to as "It". They determine that It appears as their individual worst fears, awakening every 27 years to feed on the children of Derry before resuming hibernation, and moves about by using the sewer lines, which all lead to an old stone well hidden under an abandoned house on Neibolt Street. After Pennywise attacks them, the group ventures to the house to confront It, only to be separated and terrorized. As Pennywise gloats to Bill about Georgie, the Losers regroup and Beverly impales Pennywise through the head, forcing the clown to retreat. The group flees the house and begins to splinter, with only Bill and Beverly resolute in fighting It. Weeks later, after Beverly confronts and incapacitates her sexually abusive father, Pennywise abducts her. The Losers Club reassembles and returns to the abandoned house to rescue her. Bowers, who has murdered his abusive father after being driven insane by It, attacks the group; Mike fights back and pushes Bowers down the well. The Losers descend into the sewers and find It's underground lair, which contains a mountain of decayed circus props and children's belongings, around which the bodies of It's child victims float in mid-air. Beverly, now catatonic after being exposed to bright lights inside It's gaping mouth, is restored to consciousness when Ben kisses her. Bill encounters Georgie, but recognizes that he is It in disguise. As Pennywise, It takes Bill hostage, offering to spare the others and go into hibernation if they let It feed on Bill. The Losers reject this, battling with It while overcoming their various fears. It is eventually defeated and retreats deeper into the sewers, with Bill declaring that It will starve during its hibernation. After finding the remnants of Georgie's raincoat, Bill finally comes to terms with his brother's death, with his friends comforting him. As summer ends, Beverly informs the group of a vision she had while catatonic, where she saw them fighting It again as adults. The Losers swear a blood oath that they will return to Derry as adults if It returns. After the others make their goodbyes and disperse, Beverly and Bill discuss her leaving the next day to live with her aunt in Portland. Before she leaves, Bill reveals his feelings and they kiss.
