The CZ75-series wasn't designed and marketed to compete against the latest and greatest of 2020, it competed against the 1911s, the Sig P22x-series, the Browning Hi-powers, the 2nd and 3rd gen Smiths, etc My 97BD has been eminently shootable, utterly reliable, and bombproof rugged. Even in rural Alaska. I grew up on service 1911s and S&W steel; to me, compared to those, the CZ externals are butter😂 Malfunction drills with the 97 contemporaries such as a 4006, a 1911, or a P226 require first aid certification...There Will Be Blood. The advantage of the "slide in rail" is that with the CZ ergonomics is that it buries the hand well into the balance of the sidearm. That's about it, it's not height, it's center of balance; the whole package. Full-length guide rails? Absolutely provide an advantage to an experienced higher level shooter. To a general schmuck? Probably not. Remember that the CZ75-types also dominated the competition circuits for a very very long time; outcompeting 1911s also. You'll find that most extreme level sbooters barely notice their sights. Their mechanics are that good. A higher level shooter knows Exactly where his sights are at. Always. He's not chasing them. And no, I've noticed no accumulation of muck in a CZ anymore than anything else, probably less, but then again I actually maintain my firearms regularly. It sort of reminds me of the AR v. AK argument. I do appreciate your reference to LE. Fairly accurate statement. Again, the CZ75-series designs were ahead of their contemporaries and they are still capable sidearms. That they still find their way into duty holsters and high-level competition speaks volumes.

Could not of said it better my guy! I personally own a few different cz’s and my 75b of fifteen years has never malfunctioned. My only other favorite variant that tops it is my Jericho 941F steel frame older model, that thing is a tank and super accurate.

I'm looking forward to this one. I have the P01 and absolutely adore the thing despite there being a few things that are bothersome. Like you said, the slide isn't the easiest thing to grab on to, but I have grown accustomed to it and don't really notice anymore. A tool is required to push the slide lock out. By tool I mean a pen, lighter or something similar. Lastly, that notch at the top of the trigger is slightly annoying. It occasionally pinches my finger. Reliability has been shockingly good. No exaggeration here when I say 2000 rounds and absolutely no problems. It has gone bang, ejected the empty case, loaded a new round, and gone bang again every single time. I'm pretty good about keeping it clean, so the story might be different if allowed to get dirty.

Have a SAR B6 variant of the cz-75. Works great, no jams or malfunctions and pretty darn accurate. 17 td capacity. Not bad for a $269 gun.

I have the Cz75 variant SP01, with thousands of rounds down range in USPSA/IPSC Matches. Accurate, reliable, and very durable to this day. Of course I don't scrimp on maintenance. A Cz75 P01 was my main EDC for about four years before going to a Walther P99 AS.

Good video I hope you enjoy it! I'm an avid CZ liker. The ergonomics of the grip are spectacular hope the work for your large hand. The controls are not ideal, but the grip and weight of the pistol make it a very pleasant shooter. Be warned CZ's seem to multiple I went from none to over 5 in a little over 12 months.

Enjoyed your critique of the cz75 and would recommend you continue it as series critically evaluating succesful and iconic military and police models from the perspectice of the modern civilian shooter's market expectation perspective. It was incredible to hear the sacred cow of full length slide rails aproached with a reasonable arguement versus acceptance. More of this please!

I have a long association with the CZ75 pattern. It basically is a product improved High power. The sharp edges you mentioned are not normal. The full length rails haven't had any noticeable impact on reliability, at least on my P01. Dirt, dust, grime, wet, dried out with no lube left, the thing just runs. I prefer the full rail design personally. My hypothesis is that it gives the recoil more surface area to work on, thereby decreasing the pressure on individual parts. This also (to me) tends towards a more gentle rolling recoil impulse. Less of a pop, more of a push. Although some of that may be just the weight of the gun. I'll give you that the slide isn't the easiest to grip on, though that can be overcome with practice, but to me, generally that has been an entirely administrative task. With over 12,000 rounds on mine so far, I have had 1 stovepipe (within the first 300 rounds put through the gun), 3 double feeds (rounds binding in the mag, cleaned the mags and replaced the springs) and two failures to feed (~10k on the OEM recoil spring, replaced spring), for a grand total of 5 malfunctions, 4 of which can be attributed to my PMCS failures. Gun is still on the original mags too. While I have ultimately moved over to a Glock derivative, my P01 is still my backup piece and has never let me down.

Oddly enough, even though my CZs and CZ copies are my among my favorite shooters, I also never carry them. Absolutely no reason not to, just how it happened. I believe it has more to do with caliber than anything. BTW, if you ever want to marvel at a perfect blend of engineering and art, try a Sphinx SDP. The 75 perfected.

I'm really looking forward to your table top review and shooting impressions of this pistol. I have always ben intrigued by them, just not enough to buy one. A friend had one back in the mid-80s and I shot it briefly one time during a range session together. It seemed well made and I found it very comfortable to hold and shoot, but I liked my Browning HighPower better. The DA/SA trigger system was fun and Len thought it made the gun superior to anything he had carried during his time in the US Army. He was also partial to German and Israeli rifles. One of my brothers recently was gifted a Shadow 2 and it is an impressive handgun. I have been tempted to get one after handling his, but I remember that original CZ75 fondly enough to consider the 75BD instead. I like the de-cocker and am more interested in possible carry guns than another pure range toy.

I think this would be a bit of an anchor for carry; weighing in around 2.5lbs, but we'll see on the range. Sometimes it's worth the physical discomfort to have something you really trust and know will run for you.

@@gbgunsmedia I wasn't clear enough about the carry aspect. It would be a OWB full holster with retention for walking in the woods or fishing at the pond on my friend's 200+ acre property. There are packs of feral dogs in that area so I never go out without a gun and at least 20 rounds of ammunition. The last time I did go out there unarmed, I ran into a pack of dogs and had to use my fishing rod the whip the alpha into running away. The others followed, but I ruined my favorite Shakespeare rod.

You won't be disappointed by this one I'm sure. The only issue may be getting used to the heavily curved trigger and how far forward it is. I love all of my CZ's. Unfortunately...it seems to me the Post Wuhan Coof Era gun's are a little less refined than guns produced prior to 2020.

I have two CZ75s from 1989 and 91. They are Israeli police trade ins from Aim Surplus from years ago. The slide takes very little time to get used to operating. I enjoy shooting them more than my Glock 19 because they fit my hand better. I carry the Glock due to issues I had with FTE. I've run them through classes, competitions and my 2nd Amendment events. I ran one through Pincus' Combat Focus class. I started having ejection issues near the end of the day. That day I fired hundreds of rounds with mags that were dropped in the dirt. I asked my gunsmith he told me to clean everything, since they were decades old service pistols I should have them serviced. I also need a good carry holster.

I'm not familiar wirh HO's particular video (I find him just a touch too full of himself and his wife irritates me), but I expect it has much to do with the whole symphony of how high and up tight the hand forces your hand into the centers of gravity and recoil. As for what Graham stated about sights and recoil management...he's wrong. Pure and simple. Good pistol shooters don't chase their sights, much less concern themselves with sight alignment much within 25. And yes, the recoil impulse, the flip, and the flex are all markedly different with a CZ75 or P22× series than what you get with a non-full rail. Does it really matter to most shooters? No. Makers figured out that it was cheaper to not do that and most shooters are not competent enough to notice or care.

Has this model really been made for 50 years? I only ask because I bought a CZ75 (yup, the old Kalispell model in the psychedelic orange and pink box) in the 80’s and my FFL, who was also a dealer, never said anything when I asked him for a CZ75. I also seem to recall reading in Combat Handguns that SA was the only way it was available. I was even looking for a DA/SA model since the Browning Hi Power BDA didn’t have the best reputation (and didn’t last long). Anyway, if I’d have bought the BD model I’d still have it. I could never get used to carrying “cocked and locked” (even though I now have three 1911’s). Thus, I consigned it 15 years ago.

It’s a fantastic pistol if you already have one. However there is no compelling reason to purchase one since it has a feature set from the last millennium. There are way too many options out in the market place that make this pistol outdated.

Maybe, a cool pistol that shoots lights out is a pretty compelling reason and it doesn’t take much to compel some of us to get one. Take the hi-power clones or insane amount of 1911s that are made every year. Something is compelling those sales.

Very interesting video. Looks like a well made pistol, classic looking. Those sharp edges are definitely concerning if someone was using the pistol as a defensive weapon. You're absolutely correct on local law enforcement not taking proper care of their weapons. There's still quite a few that don't carry one in the chamber,. They are afraid of shooting themselves. Many time's the administration ignores the dirty weapons and improper carrying of weapons for political reasons. Two recent AD by on duty L E occured. Scottsdale, AZ. Officers rifle discharge. Itt was in a soft case with a round in the chamber, safety off. Officer passed away. Second was an experienced LAPD officer playing with his S***"*** 2311 pistol. Offer pulls the trigger on a live round while in the building. Bullet goes through several walls. Nobody injured. Louisiana, New York and Washington State have also had officers improperly handling weapons with AD. As standards are lowered its becoming a frequent occurrence. Thank you for sharing this video. CZ makes some very nice pistols We wish you and Teya a great day 😄🙏
