This video contains two recent matches I had with the LV1 Gundam Alex on Gundam Battle Operation 2. It is a 450-600 cost general with great turning speed, superb walking speed, two dodge rolls, a rapid fire albeit low damage beam rifle and a high DPS gatling gun. Its weaknesses would be slow boosting speed, only having 13000 HP and having no Forced Injector skill. This suit has always been sort of alright but quite flawed at the same time. It has always been great at breaking enemies legs with constant harassment with the beam rifle and gatling gun, but its ability to help the team out with stuns or to frontline leaves something to be desired. I thought that this first match went really well but the second match unfortunately had one of the enemy team members disconnect halfway through. I hope that you enjoy watching!
The Alex can choose between a beam rifle or bazooka for primary weapons. The bazooka is pretty superb with only 5 seconds cooldown time, but Alex isn't suited for frontline play in the first place so it isn't the best option. The beam rifle at LV1 has 950 (1900) power, 30% (70%) heat, 0.8 seconds cooldown, 15 seconds overheat, 1 second swap time, 400m (450m) range, 3 seconds focus time, 35% (65%) stagger value and 1.2x (1.1x) leg damage modifier. This has low damage per shot but it has low heat and short cooldown time, so you can do good damage with successive shots. It also does increased damage to the enemies legs.
Its primary melee weapon is a beam saber with 2200 power, 2.5 seconds cooldown, 0.77 seconds swap time and standard modifiers. This has the standard Federation saber moveset but the high base power means it can hit fairly hard.
Its first sub weapon is an arm gatling gun with 125 power, 45 ammo, 600 RPM, 8 seconds reload, 0.77 seconds swap time, 150m range, 1250 DPS, 5% stagger value and 1.3x leg damage modifier. This has short range but outstanding DPS and decent stagger ability. It can stagger the enemy in just 2 seconds on its own but the extra leg damage means it can easily destroy enemies legs.
It also has a head vulcan but this has only 2% stagger value and 498 DPS, so it isn't worth using when you have the arm gatling gun and beam rifle.
It has a large shield with 3000 HP which grants +15% walking/turning speed once it is destroyed. If your Alex is equipped with cruise control then this bumps your walking speed up to 161, which makes you incredibly evasive considering the strafing speed modifiers.
The LV1 Alex has 13000 HP, 17 ballistic/beam resist and 15 melee resist. This is really awful durability for a 450 cost general, one positioning mistake could mean you losing almost all of your HP. It has LV2 Emergency Evasion for its defensive skill which can help with survivability though.
It also has 135 walking speed, 190 boost speed, 60 thrust and 72 turning speed. This seems like pretty mediocre mobility for a 450 coster at first, but the 95% strafing speed modifiers of the Alex means that it excels when skirmishing and shooting around cover. This means you can make up for the durability issues by taking full advantage of the mobility of Alex around cover to avoid taking damage in the first place. Alex lacks skills like Flight Control or Forced Injector like what some other 450 cost generals get though.
Overall I think that while Alex is definitely usable and is capable of outputting good midrange DPS, it is outclassed by newer and stronger options at this point. Having an Alex on the team is a little bit like being down a man in a teamfight, since Alex lacks instant stuns to directly support allies along with lacking the durability to realistically frontline. So while it can wreck enemies legs if your teammates aren't having too much trouble on the frontline, it lacks the ability to actually help out on the frontline that much. These are weaknesses that Pale Rider VG and Jeda lack, so it would be a better choice to play these suits that still have good midrange DPS while also offering frontline ability at the same time. I think that Alex probably needs a buff at this point. It would be nice to see it get +1500 HP, LV1 Forced Injector, +5 boosting speed and 7% stagger value on the gatling gun. Not to say it would be a bad idea to play it in its current state, but just that you need to be aware that it is fighting an uphill battle. Thanks for watching, and I hope that you enjoyed it!
