Bro this is sick!! Im in new zealand.. and currently building my 97 gf8 wrx sti. Your widebody.. damn you going to be the reason my wagon is gon be super angry looking 😤🤣🤣 for real dude! This is sick man! Officially my favorite subaru on RU-vid!! #ForceDreams 🏁
We I sold my 484bhp GC8 Type R in May, your pics have just pushed me to start looking for a Type R/P1 shell and start again! 🤣😭 my wife will kill me haha Well done man!- looks awesome!
Car is looking great buddy! IMO, it’s always worth the effort to redo something you’re not happy with (RE: wiring), way to dig in and knock it out the right way!!! 👍
I don't think that it's a good idea to put the welding stuff way in the back. If something starts burning then your whole workshop is likely to be on fire. 🔥🔥🔥
Great 6 min update! Thanks, can't wait for the next video! I totally get just working and not videoing, it's a different mind state when you have to video all your fuck ups hahaha.
Ahh man I’m like three years in and sold my first rs to build my second one turns out pretty much building the same car as yours just no wide body yet haha beautiful work man I love to chat for sure
Bro that was epic but only 3 pics.. That too from far away pls next time take more pics. And i have a suggestion. When you do any work you can just place the camera and make a timelapse of everything you do on this gc8 and upload as is.. even that much update will be awesome to see..Maybe i don't have patience but 100mm widebody on gc8 sounds too greedy to have patience..😂
Great progress....final color? And, I put a CAE in and I get a horrendous rattle in 3rd gear...did you have any issues (it is a 19 but the basics are not that different). Thanks!
Can’t reveal the color yet 🤫 But idk about your rattle honestly, never had it happen before. Where does it seem to come from? There isn’t a lot that can go wrong, the installation is pretty straightforward. Maybe your lever or linkage is touching the transmission tunnel or the center console trims, i would check for enough clearance there
Correct, but honestly taking the wing off is only a couple of bolts so really not complicated. Besides, i have never blown a fuse from regular use, so it’s not like i’d be doing it every weekend :)
Great progress. Thanks for the video. Looks better and better. Little things often take a lot of time. One question: why didn’t you like the fuse box location? I thought it had kind of a racy feel to it.
Hey man, i didn’t like it because it forced me to have a wiring loom running down the side of the cockpit and the connectors under the dash were getting in the way of the pedals. Also, getting rid of all these wires made the car 4kg lighter :)
So stoked for the update! Any thoughts on doing an anti gravity battery? It would definitely save some weight, although it might mess up you center of gravity...
Loving the vids.. i have a v5/6 sti shell that im doing a restoration and ABW 22b 4dr to 2dr conversion on. These vids keep me motivated and helped me out big time! Thanks
I know you took the roof off another car without the sunroof to swap on but did you consider going for a carbon fibre roof? Think there few companies that offer them. Load of carbon body parts including a roof would be on my wishlist if I were to fully build a car like this.
@@SwissTuned haha I didn't actually look hard enough at the two shots at the end of the video it seems because I didn't notice. I am guessing that might be the upcoming roof in question there seeing as the one in the swap video was white and that is look suspiciously like carbon here... Can't wait to see the next videos. If you are going carbon roof it would be nice to see some other carbon body panels? Would be awesome to mould and remake the widened widebody panels in carbon although I imagine that is lots of work and the existing rear quarters are pretty well integrated with the current shell so would have to hack the car apart again. That said I am always surprised the level of effort you go to with this build including redoing big bits of work again until you happy like the wiring and fuse box so I don't doubt more carbon parts are on the way!
