Theres one thing i dont understand In small molecular substances we break of the intermolecular forces but in giant covalent bonds we break of the covalent bonds why dont we also break the intermolecular forces in giant covalent bonds

do diamonds contain intermolecular forces? or are the atoms only connected by covalent bonds?
