I had so many questions about not just flatness but GD&T from watching other videos and this video took care of all of them. Absolutely amazing! Thank you so much!

you should definelty make more videos about basic gd&t. like virtual condition and mmc / lmc. I'm 31 working as a manufacturing engineer and I WISH I knew this back in college when I was going for aerospace engineering. keep it up!!

Is straightness (axis under M) depiction correct one in the leftmost picture, I mean FCF pointing towards surface not towards extension line, like in Flatness under Median plane M

It would be great to also comment on how to correctly measure Flatness besides CMM. For example if you are creating plane by mounting two L-shaped supports and you have a requirement for Flatness. How to measure correctly with a straight edge and a clearance gauges, cause a lot of interpretations can be seen there?

Say the hieght of a block is .505 upper and .495 Lower. flatness.003 can one side of the block measure .505 other end .495 and still be flat by .003

Hey thanks for this explanation! Question 8:23: Is there a difference for the manufactured part to inspect if you: 1) Have Datum A on the surface (like in the video), or if you put: 2) Datum A onto the flatness callout itself, and not on the surface? Does it matter or is it actually the same? Thanks :)
@Gdandtbasics
@Gdandtbasics Месяц назад
Great question, we get that one alot! The interpretation is the same regardless if you attach the datum feature symbol directly to the FCF or the surface.

what is #RULE-1 , Can anyone please explain it to me?????
@TomOtero1984
@TomOtero1984 4 года назад
Rule 1 states: “Where only a tolerance of size is specified, the limits of size of an individual feature prescribe the extent to which variations in its form - as well as in its size- are allowed.”
