Interns are people who works for their master without getting paid, as they are gaining some experience about working. They will get paid if their master hired them. Interns in Total Drama are harshly treated by the hosts which explained why interns in CEs are often being killed. However, most interns in CEs aren't actually like interns, but more than antagonists (villainous ones) and aren't loyal to the host.
