if you look carefully... the "growth" accelerate at 9/11 and Covid. what we are seeing is actually the inflation of USD, as USD purchasing power declines, the value of goods increases, creating the illusion of growth. it would be interesting if we try to measure economic data against gold, sliver and copper.

Which is precisely why US treating them as a threat for eventually surpassing their own Nominal GDP makes no sense. US has time and time again said that they will not allow China to overtake them in Nominal GDP. But that means their goal is to keep another country poor.

It's like the richest family on the block getting upset that a family 4 times larger may become richer and doing everything they can to keep the larger family from prospering so they can retain their number one spot.

That's true. PPP per captial of US follows the same trend. It's only a matter of time.

One of the problem of using forex rate to calculate GDP is that if you raise/cut rates a lot the GDP could be fluctuating a lot. E.g, when the 2022 rate-raise begins China's GDP fall from 75% of U.S GDP to less than 60%, but if fed reserve cut rates too fast now, China's GDP could quickly go to 85% percent of U.S GDP, and if fed cut rates too much and EQ too much to save the treasury debt, then China's GDP could easily skyrocketing to above 100% of U.S GDP. I'm not saying using forex rate to get GDP data is bad but it really causes trouble for invensting.
