Great video. My ice machine looks like that on the inside after about eight months of use. Question: why do you have the water tank on the right side of the machine? Wouldn't it be easier to mount the tank on the other side so it is closer to the sink?

Do you know the part “Linux AC motor” at 3m33s in the video - mine started humming really loud and I’m not sure if the small white fan on top of it is supposed to be spinning - would you happen to have a link for a replacement part?

The motor probably isn't bad, it also turns the auger inside the part with the styrofoam piece around it and is likely jammed up with build up. You should take it apart like he shows, and then go a step further and remove the auger head (the round piece with the holes for the ice) and you'll find a bunch of gunk built up inside. Take the auger out and clean everything really well with some descaler or vinegar and the flush it out. You saw how much was in those lines, but that auger assembly is lower and has slower water flow through it, so it can't flush out the limescale. Once you get it cleaned up, it will likely work again without any parts replacement. Good luck!

Great video! Concise and to the point. At 2:06 in the video, an easier solution for bottom panel removal is to slide the unit over the edge of a table. There are four slots along the bottom. Insert a flat blade screwdriver into each slot and you will hear a "click" and that releases the clips for that section. Once you hear four "clicks", the bottom is easily removed, and you don't risk breaking anything. I recently discovered this as I took my unit apart for the water pump replacement and a thorough deep cleaning. Also be sure to use distilled water and it should help with any excess scale build-up.

I just followed this recommendation and it makes the front fascia removal MUCH easier than the pry tool method demonstrated in the video. Can't recommend this route enough.

(I posted under the wrong account, deleted and reposting) I came here because my unit is squealing, but also has a leak coming from one of these bottom slots. In this video, I can see he has some scale/deposits in that area, but I do not see how water would escape there. I am hoping my reservoir is not cracked. Any thoughts on how water would be leaking from these slots? FWIW we exclusively fill our tank with RO water. Thanks

I clean mine with vinegar every month. Push the vinegar soaked towel into the dispenser part and let it sit for up to 24 hours. Mine started squealing a few months ago, but I wasn't paying attention to it...end up year craziness. Then suddenly stopped producing ide and said "defrosting". Called GE and they said run it through with HOT vinegar 5 times. Did this, still NOT producing ice. GE "support" is worthless!!! $700 machine and 0 help! Could it be because that metal insert in the middle of the machine is gunked up? I am trying to find videos of how to fix this thing and yours is one of 3 that talked about "gunk" and "build up". I use filtered water because we have very hard water here. Any response and help would be very, very VERY appreciated!

Wow! I think customer service in general is going to crap.😒 There can definitely be some serious buildup in the center. You can do the whole process in this video, and pour descaling solution into there and let it sit overnight then flush it all out. You’ll see it start bubbling showing it’s doing its job. I had to do that to one that the build up was worse than mine in this video. You should be able to get it working again after going thru all of this.👍🏾

Just got mine today. Cleaned it with a tablespoon of clorox mixed with water and then flushed it 4 times. Washed the tub. Not using the side container yet. Filled water to the water line. Started making ice immediately, then after maybe 5-10 minutes it start dripping/leaking water into the tub with ice in it. Is it suppose to do this? Will it do this everytime? Anyone else have this issue? Did I get a lemon? I'd appreciate any comments of what it could be and what resolved it. Thank you. Scott

@@Lucrativesoldier So everything has been working great. There have been a few times where it says "Add Water". I can pour my distilled water into the side bin or the main area below the ice container, however, it will continue to say Add Water when I turn it off and back on. What is the fix?? Well here it is....Before you turn it back on, tack out the filter and you will see the white hole where it pulls water, then turn it back on and you need take your finger and press to push water into it (it will suck your finger so continue to pull it away and keep pushing water into it), do this roughly 10-15 times until you see water start trickling back down as it should before it starts making ice. There ya go, you fixed it! It will make ice again in 5 ish minutes.

Would you have any idea why the cooling system would make a vibrating/rattling noise? It’s the copper piece that looks like a CO2 cartridge right beneath the fan, under the coils. The rattling/vibrating noise stops when I touch that piece. Started a few weeks ago and I took it all apart, cleaned it, but as soon as the machine start producing ice, the rattle was back. The copper is warm to the touch, so I’m hesitant to put any foam/insulation around it.
@Lucrativesoldier
@Lucrativesoldier 2 месяца назад
@@imjussagrl5195 I’m not sure what would cause that issue. But if it’s working ok other than the noise, I would try to secure it to prevent it from rattling.

I am interested to buy this machine. I have a few questions. How to you keep from mold/mildew buildup and “bio-film slime” buildup? I had a countertop small ice maker, and I descaled regularly (which cleared out the crusty minerals). However, if I reached in and checked, the water reservoir had a slimy film. This was despite using filtered water and regular descaling. HELP me understand this because I Miss my ice machine. I just want to know how to avoid this slime and mold. Scale I can handle!
@Lucrativesoldier
@Lucrativesoldier 5 месяцев назад
I will say, we’ve had ours for over a year, and haven’t had any slime or mildew issues. It’s constantly moving the water which I’m sure helps prevent those issues. So just a regular descaling cleaning is all that’s needed. I think doing a distilled vinegar flush also helps.

I have cleaned every 10-14 days, plus used distilled water 100% of the time and mine gave a Defrosting warning and would never work. This is because of a damaged auger. If the auger won’t turn, the machine thinks it is because of ice blockage and the unit goes into Defrost mode. 😮 warranty return time. Mine is 10-months old.

My ice maker keeps saying Add Water. There is water. The pump only works for about 1 minute then stops. If I turn the ice maker off and on it will do it again, work for a minute or so then stop and the fan also stops. It's been doing this for a while now, I usually clean it and it will work for a couple weeks then say Add Water. Now it's not working long enough to make ice. A year or so ago it was making a horribly loud squeaking noise. It quit doing that, thank goodness but now it doesn't work at all. I've had it 2 years.
