GE Profile refrigerator leaking water, clogged drain tube repair. 

Steve - thank you so much. We have GE profile and my wife noticed ice build up. We watched a lot of the other videos with suggested fixes and we were very concerned about taking the drawer out and removing the inner panel. We saw your video and this was exactly our issue. You may have saved our marriage.

Hi Steve thanks , that was my refrigerators problem. Used a steamer to remove all the ice. Then cleaned out the drain black rubber piece. Exactly the same as your fridge. I guess this will be a future maintenance issue. Thanks again!!

This was the only fix I needed. Mine somehow had plastic, two strips of a metallic material that looked like large confetti and a hair blockage and fused together. Cleared this up and started flowing great. Thanks for posting this and saving me the hassle of opening the inside panels, using hot water and turkey basters etc that I saw in the other videos.. Thanks for posting this!

I was about to follow the other videos tearing apart the freezer but luckily found yours before I started which saved me a ton of time! I found the black plug full of pet hair and completely clogged. Not sure how it all got in there. Such an easy fix! Thanks!

Much thanks for this video, I'm sure this was my problem. I got a couple of small pieces out and thought that was the clog, then the crap pushed through and there was a LOT there. 20+ years I've had this fridge and I've never had to clean it out until now!

So far so good with this fix. The only ting I would add is that once I removed the drain pipe water did start pouring down so be careful it doesn't get on the mechanisms and floor. We have hard wood so its more concerning. Otherwise thankyou very much for the video!

Thanks Steven! I had the same water puddles and saw all the disassembly the freezer videos. This is exactly like mine and that black piece was clogged. Boy was there a bunch of water up there! (8-10 oz or so). Hopefully solves the puddles.

Hey Steven G. We would like to thank you for making this video. Our 22 cubic foot, GE S x S was flooding out the front. Prior to noticing the water leak, the refrigerator was making a very intermittent popping noise like an expansion differential between the interior and the insulation. The black drain adapter with the 2 little slots was plugged like you showed. I cleaned it up real good and problem is solved. A bonus is the popping also ceased. I have no idea why the 2 little slots? Tempted to open up the slots more but don't know the consequences in doing so?

Yep, cleaned both tubes. If you still have ice, give it a day or two to go thru the de ice cycle.

Exactly my model fridge and exactly same problem. Scum and mineral buildup clogging the slots. Good time to defrost and clean the inside too.

As I just found out, check the drain line before you start taking stuff apart inside the fridge. A shot of compressed air blew it clean.

Nailed it - water on the floor, drain pan largely dry, cabinet kickboard fiberboard ruined, and this stupid little rubber gasket evidently designed to drive service calls as there is not benefit to reducing a drain pipe down to two pinholes. Mine was completely blocked with a sludge like material. The sheet metal screws don't even fit right on the back. Our GE is a pos and has had no end of problems.

Repaired my yesterday and yes mine had dirt/hard water calcium build up in the black rubber piece blocking the two holes ! Cost of a service call, no thank you.

Thanks for this video. We had a repair guy come out two years ago. Stopped the water for a couple months. We’ve just put up with it since then as a nuisance on our tile floor every few weeks or so. I saw another video that suggested snipping the hole larger and the replacement of this discontinued part doesn’t appear to have such a small interior. Has your fridge clogged again since you cleared it?

Do you know if this is 1 major maintenance action 2 do periodically? Because I don't even c anything related 2 maintenance in my fridge's user manual. Also, I guess this short pipe drains the freezer condensation 2 the bottom pan from where it simply evaporates?

My GE has no access to the bottom and the drain pan. Dumb design!
