I have the 850 series but honestly I don't think it does much more than your does. My washer and dryer link up and communicate but that's a real gimmick since we hang dry half our stuff anyway and plus we like to be in control of what dryer settings we want. The extra cubic feet does matter to me but for most families it wouldn't matter. I love having a stainless steel drum in my dryer though (didn't want coated aluminum). As far as helping it last longer, I don't even bother with the dispenser tray because they tend to cause problems for most machines. I use powder detergent in a box cause better for machine AND for environment, and while I do use the ultra fresh venting system now and again keep the door open half the time instead. I do need to clean out the pump below and sanitize the drum. Have never done either. Curious if never using the dispenser might still lead to icky stuff in there. So far it's always wet in there but always clean. I don't have a sink in my laundry area so wish I could buy special wet wipes that would clean the gasket but without harsh chemicals (don't want to break down all the anti microbial aspects of it!). Thanks for all the tips!
You actually don't have to do all that at all with the door and dispenser. This has the microban built in to the door gasket, despenser drawer and draining system to prevent mold, mildew and bacteria. I have the ge ultrafast combo which is this washer with a heat pump on top. Fantastic machine. Owner it 3 months so far and the microban really works. Saves you a lot of trouble and worry. 👍
I do like these front load washers but I know I'd be so particular with the maintenance I'd rather just have a top load, all you do with that is just leave it open when you're done and that's it.
