We are fools. We had the big, fancy looking GE washer and dryer and after only 4 years the dryer started to literally smoke. It cost us over $400 to repair. And then the washer’s rear bearing went 2 years later ( so only 6 years old) and the spin sounded like a jet was taking off. We rode it out for another year and just got rid of them. But what did we replace them with? A GE 27” stackable unit that had only worked 3 out of the six loads I’ve tried.It’s being picked-up in three days for return & refund. General Electric is such a garbage company. I can’t imagine any circumstances where I will give them my money again.
Lid lock was cracked and broken and main circuit board had burn spots . I replaced both now I just get all lights blinking and I am in able to enter diagnostic mode. Any thoughts?
It looks like the actual sequence of this repair has been edited in the video. The switch repair appears to have been the last repair and not the second one that led to the finished repair. When the motor is replaced, the old switch is still on the trans. Yet the video has it replaced second, before the motor. The actual sequencing of this repair must have been The belt, then the motor, and not until the switch was replaced did the machine work properly. It its a big difference to me that I should replace the switch before the expense of the motor and that is the lesson here. thanks
The motor was the last thing replaced. I was new to filming with the iPhone and sometimes it gets bumped from 4K to slo-mo and I get footage that is unusable. Either way I apologize for the way it plays out with the edit, but the motor was the final part replaced
Hi, the issue that I'm having is that when it goes into a regular wash cycle the top shifter hub doesn't engage with the bottom hub for the tub to agitate. But when I put it in drain cycle it engages just fine. Any suggestions?
That is the model I have! I need your help with it, please! I moved into a new townhouse condo recently and when I first used the washing machine, there was black gunk (scrud I think it's called) all over my clothes. I have tried many times cleaning it out with a cycle of vinegar, a cycle of Affresh tablets, and letting the Affresh soak for hours before rinsing it out. It works at first, but a couple of weeks to a month later I'll start seeing bits of the black gunk again. And then I'll have to do another cleaning. I suspect the gunk is under the agitator, but I don't know how to take it out or if I should call a technician to do so. Is there a way to prevent this from happening? I make sure to use a big enough load, I keep the lid open after use, I don't overload it. I'm at a loss. Should the agitator be replaced? Please help.
This is just a guess but #1 the lid that sits on top of the washer drum can be removed. There 4-6 tabs (can’t remember) that must be pulled up surrounding the washer drum. There is a gasket under that lid that may have came loose and got shredded. Removal of the flat panel where the lid lock and switch is needed to take of the tub lid. #2 check inside the agitator the top should just pull off. Removal of the agitator requires a socket but can’t remember what size. Hope that helps

@@magicianmana4 hey if it looks like that then I don’t think it would be the gasket seal. In a perfect scenario the agitator removes easy but all equipment is designed for failure and if pieces start falling apart it may be hard to get back together. All depends on your comfort level of working on appliances 👍

I have one that doesn’t agitate, lid lock is good, got the same error codes as you in this video, cleared the motor and everything but it just does quick little jerks when I run the cycle and doesn’t actually fully spin
Hi. I'm planning on getting a 24 inch washer dryer center from GE, due to limited space. Would you recommend this machine? Meaning, in your opinion, is GE's space maker washer dryer combo a reliable and durable machine? I'm just worried that this is a machine that'll be good for the first few months or a year, and constantly requires repair jobs thereafter.
I don't do as many repairs on the newer (2019 and up) GE washer / dryer combos compared to the older 2015-2019 models. Since I primarily only work on GE and Whirlpool though, I do find myself repairing the GE's a lot more though. Hope that helps.

Hi. My electrician wired the outlet wrong and when i turned the washer on it made a wired noise and there is no power to washer and lights do not turn on. Dryer still works fine. What could be wrong with the washer?
i could use some insight. i have the model: gtup270em4ww GE stacked washer/dryer. one of my sweaters had its zipper pull slip between the dryer drum and the housing, so i took off the face plate to remove it. now the dryer wont start. i noticed a couple wires slipped off the prongs of the timer controller so i checked a photo online to put them in the right place. still nothing. the photo may have been inaccurate but i can't find any others, its quite a rare photo surprisingly. also i didn't read of a reset sequence for the dryer, just the washer. i'm out of ideas. anything come to mind of what may have happened?
Very hard to tell but there should be a wiring diagram in the panel directly above the washer lid (2 screws i believe) to ensure your wires are in the right place. There are also two fuses in this panel that could have potentially blown if you did this live and wires were dangling.

@@ApartmentMaintenancePro so my landlord called the repair guy and he saying the motor is bad. I don't know how taking the faceplate off the machine could have blown the motor. And he's saying it's now a 2 man job. Does this seem sketchy to you?

@@ApartmentMaintenancePro thanks. It just seemed weird that he even suggested that. It was running fine. Just got a zipper caught. I turned it off manually. It didn't stop on its own. I don't see why removing the faceplate would burn out the motor.
Mine has the spin light blinking, i refered to the manual and it said the lid lock would be broken. But i replaced the lock switch and it still wont work. I have tried going into diagnostic mode but i am not able to. Any help would be great!
Hey, not sure if you are a homeowner or building maintenance, but USUALLy when you can’t get into a diagnostic mode there may be a component on the circuit board that’s gone bad.
@@zachroth9311 I'm not very good at diagnosing circuit board parts or circuitry in general. Sometimes you can see a small burn mark on them from a short though. Not sure how much your circuit board is but if you can find one cheap enough it might be worth the risk to replace it and give it a shot
When I turned on washer, I just noticed 'white flashes of light' coming from behind my washing machine. There were approx. 5 flashes of lights. What could possibly be causing it? It's an OLD washing machine.
I showed lid lock codes. So I bought a lid switch. Ran washer in diagnostic mode. Showed no codes. When I reset my codes and tried to spin only it gives me flashing spin. Any ideas
Hey does the washer fill up with water before the lights start flashing or are you just using the drain:spin function. What’s the model # is it the same as this video? Which light is blinking? Sounds like the washer thinks the lid is still open. I would double check connections and go back into service mode and clear codes and give it another shot. Let me know if that works
@@ApartmentMaintenancePro the washer fills with water then stops. Does not go to spin at all. When I just need then washer to spin the spin light flashes. I bought the lid lock sensor thing that has 2 wires. Ill update once I fix it. Hopefully it works. I've already replaced the lid lock itself
I have this same exact model and the washer filled up with water, but stops on the rinse cycle and won't spin. I don't see any error codes, but I checked that the belt is on and that nothing is stuck in there. Any ideas? Please help!
My unit won’t finish a spin cycle, has a blue and pink cord loose. took the motor off can’t find the home but the harness is still connected. Help please !!
You really answer comments?? Crossing my fingers! I have a 2 month old Frigidaire Quiet Stack. We are on a well and it ran dry while the washer was running. A bunch of red lights flashed. Thought I reset it but apparently not. It looks and acts normal but just stops about half way thru. Can't get any help anywhere!!!
Hey, I haven’t worked on that model. There should be a tech sheet inside the washer (probably on top you’ll have to remove a panel or two) that will tell you what the lights flashing means. I would start with turning the power off for a minute or two and turning it back on though to see if that fixes it 👍

Tried the power plug thing, lid flipped 6 times, 2 buttons simoltaniously etc The red buttons only happened once and I don't remember the exact pattern but I will try the manual again. Great video, u helped me figure out my error code, I opened it up and cleared the thongs that's was wrapped around the pulley belts. But now when I run the washer that wheel in the front makes a clicking noise and I still have the same error code. Do I need to replace the motor or the black wheel that the belt is attached to? Help

They are replacing the washers in my apartment development with this unit. It is absolutely the worst appliance! It never washes the same way twice. I am constantly pushing buttons in order to complete a wash. And what a waste of water: having to always use the bulk setting to get enough water.
WH49X20495 is the part number for this particular model and works with many other models. Amazon, PartSelect.com are few places I order parts online. If you get this motor just make sure it's compatible with your exact model number, PartSelect is good for this. You will have to take off the wheel and reinstall it on the new motor though, which isn't in this video. Future upload hopefully if I run into this again.
Criminal what junk. F**k GE and Home Depot for selling it. I'm buying directly from local repair guys from now on. Thank goodness for dudes like you that can fix stuff. It's so hard to get good help I want to go back to being a renter where there's a guy like you nearby.
