Lifting the back of the Ducati (take the seat off, lift by the rails) with a strap eliminates the access problem with the bottom bolt on the shock, no need to remove the bracket for the foot pegs. Shock pops right out. Appreciated the tip regarding pulling the washer out with pliers. Put a Mizu 25mm lowering kit on my wife’s 2015 Urban Enduro, got it down for her at least 3/4”.

Thanks. Wish I’d never started 🤣. At least this time it worked out. It doesn’t always…

😳 I can only apologise and I hope you’re ok. That stuck bolt was a proper pain. The sleeping on it but helped a little, but luckily that big was cut 🤣

Very instructive video, nicely explained and clear instructions. Many thanks Andre, it will be useful when I swap out mine for a Nitron shock. Hopefully my bolt will not be as stuck as yours !!🤞

Good luck! I hope it comes free easily. If it doesn’t, at least you know it’s not you!

Nice to see torque wrench used, rather than "let's put a huge amount force on this bolt so it won't work loose".
@PeakMotorcycles
@PeakMotorcycles 2 года назад
Yup, there’s some bolts that should be done right. I tend to torque up all the big bolts to spec, and also any that are structurally critical. I’m also trying to make sure I don’t strip the threads, as that can really ruin a weekend!

Hi Andre! Great video! What specific benefit where you're looking for with this change? I want to upgrade my '23 800 (Gen 1) with Ohlin's front and rear as well. In your video you said you were going on a trip afterwards of 2000 miles. How was the handling? Did it make any difference? I'm trying to get rid of vibration in the bars, foot pegs, and pounding on my back when on bad roads which jolts all the way up my neck!! 😵
@PeakMotorcycles
@PeakMotorcycles 10 месяцев назад
Hi the change was mostly to the damping. It meant that going over bumps meant the suspension would compress and then settle almost immediately. With the stock unit there would be some oscillation. It didn’t make much difference to the vibration, though I’d already replaced the ‘Icon’ bars with ‘Full Throttle’ flat bars (also needed new bar clamps) and the pegs with multistrada pegs with rubber inserts and these two changes helped a lot with the vibration. As for the journey, it didn’t happen due to other matters which I don’t wish to mention again here.

Have you got a recommendation for aftermarket ultra for scrambler also local Ducati serve places . I'm a Sheffield rider
@PeakMotorcycles
@PeakMotorcycles 6 месяцев назад
Not sure what an aftermarket ultra is, but the Ducati dealer in Sheffield is SMC near the Wicker. (That’s where my bike came from)

Frustrating experience with the corroded bolt. I'm glad you managed to get it loose. In my opinion it is important to show setbacks as well, so congrats.Well done, André. Günter from Nürnberg/Germany

I should have kept filming but I didn't think i'd get it free. Not sure how many hours I spent on the cursed thing, but too many. Sometimes the shortest jobs take forever.

@@PeakMotorcycles That's true. I had the same experience yesterday when changing a scooter tyre. I simply couldn't break the old tyre, it didn't hop into the middle of the rim. No trick worked. Not enough power with my mechanical racing tools. Had to go to the dealers'. With professional machines it was easy. We had a good laugh together.

At what point underneath the bike should I allow the lift to make contact?
@PeakMotorcycles
@PeakMotorcycles Год назад
Hi, I used an Abba Skylift with bike specific adapters that fit the swingarm bolts. Mine lifts the bike from there, not from under the bike, so I'm afraid I can't really give you advice on that as I haven't tried it. Your local Ducati dealer can probably tell you where it's safe to lift from. Apologies.

Is it worth the money ? What is the improvement ? Grtz
@PeakMotorcycles
@PeakMotorcycles 2 года назад
I think it depends on how heavy you are and how you ride. I’m 100kg and with 20kg of luggage the stock suspension feels undersprung and I can bottom it out. For me it is. If I was 70kg and never carried luggage it probably wouldn’t be. The Ohlins damping is great, but that alone isn’t worth the expense. Not for me. It was the overall improvement that made it worth it for me. I’ve had the bike from new and will keep it for a while so I don’t mind the investment.

How tall is the misses? Do you lower the spring for ride height
@PeakMotorcycles
@PeakMotorcycles 2 года назад
She is 5’2” and the spring is standard. She also has some Daytona Lady Star GTX boots with a 2.5cm lift and the standard seat has been uncovered, reshaped to be an inch lower and half an inch of each side and she can flat foot the bike.

@@PeakMotorcycles hello, I have searched but there is no video that explains how to do it correctly and how it should look, there are for other ducati models, but not for ducati scrambler
