Thank you!! Almost every review I’ve seen of this guitar has been people shredding it and I prefer playing quieter relaxed songs, so thankful you showed a variety :)
I know some of that tone is in his fingers, but man oh man, this guitar sounds beautiful. I like when I can tell someone is pleasantly surprised by an instrument in the low to mid range . You just helped me narrow down my next purchase.
The first time I played this guitar I was literally amazed. ESP really outdid themselves with this guitar! Very very close to a Les Paul Standard. This is one of the best values on the market.
I just bought an EC-256 in cherry sunburst. This review helped me make the final decision. I've been playing Epiphone Les Pauls for years, but my EC-256 smokes them. Already looking at another one in a different finish.
you shouldn't buy a mim brand new imo, get one used if you aren't getting a mia. Strats don't really fit in this shoot out because they have different tones for different types of music compared to Gibson. Esp is a more direct comparison but starts have a complete different sound and feel imo.
Neth BT a Gibson is the equivalent of an ESP or at least an LTD Ec-1000 level of instrument. This is more like a low/medium cost Epiphone. They aren’t bad but I’d save up for a LTD ec-401!
These are just amazing. Getting the 256fm in green on Wednesday and I'm so happy to get one, this review confirms it, you really did the guitar justice there dude congrats
Thanks for the great review! Been looking to upgrade my 10 year old stater pack guitar(bought in this past summer) and I think this is the one after trying it out ar my local guitar store.
It IS a Mahogany Body and has a Mahogany Neck, not Maple neck. I've had my EC 256 FMLD (Flame Maple, Lemon Drop finish) since Feb 2015. and play it 'almost' every day. But my Strats got lonely so for the last week I've been playing my '86 Strat, the 1st Strat I bought. Anywho the EC-256 ROCKS, I like the stock Humbuckers -- play mostly the Neck PUP w/ the Coil Split. Oh and it IS a Coil SPLIT, not Coil Tap. Big difference between the two technically-- a Coil Split does exactly that.
Nice review, all round coverage, with all the good reviews on the EC-256 and the deals I found on line, I ordered 2 brand new, one in flamed Maple see thru Cherry Sunburst with case and extras and the other in see thru Cobalt blue and case, and paid less than $550.00 for both, Great deals to found on these.
Man, I got the EC-256 in cherry sunburst and put some EMG passive pickups in it, and that S.O.B. is now a tone BEAST!! I'd recommend it to anyone on a budget that wants a damn good guitar that's pretty much out-of-the-box ready for studio recording or live stage gigs. Add the EMG passive pickups and you got one helluva guitar...hands down.
+Gunslinger Survival Yes, these do sound great out of the box, but for their price you don't have to break the bank for some nice upgrades either. They have been pretty popular here in the shop. We just had to make another order!
a whole bunch of things I liked about this review. first, the guy speaks with a normal, American accent and totally easy to understand....every word. he doesn't get in a hurry yet keeps it moving right along with the proper amount of information to get his review across. Naturally, he plays great. The guitar reviews always sound super no matter how good or cheap because the man doing the review has his shit together and I'm guessing, the axe is set up pretty good, good amp, etc. It's on my short list to try and maybe buy this ESP.
Was thinking of buying with a black star 40watt amp beginner player, big metal rock fan since I was 13 always wanted to play guitar 43 now not sure if iam too old to start, great review thanks.
Got this guitar two and half years back. It was my second guitar. It's still in great condition. No fixes needed for it. Excellent for every genre of music I play. It's an excellent guitar for the price. This is something I'd pay a good £600 for.
How's the intonation and tuning stability? I have their cheapest one and am considering upgrading to a mid-high Epiphone Les Paul or one of these, but need something a little more stable. Had work done a couple different times on the EC-10 to try to fix all that but not working
These are great guitar! I had a lemon drop one, but just recently traded it for a green one. Still sounds just as amazing, I just liked the green one better.
From my experience I have owned 2 epiphones and have had nothing but problems with them so in my opinion go to some stores and check for quality and have a feel of loads of different guitars and purchase what suits you. Don't let anyone tell you what guitar you should buy as that person will probably be biased.
really a good video!!! Congratulation!!! Can you help make a chooice? I'm undecided between a ltd 256 fm and an epiphone les paul standard plus top pro. Can you give me an advice? Thank you and greeetings form Naples!!!
Hey oaks. I have an LTD ESP EC-100QM, A fender Strat (The one Made in USA) and a Fender acoustic CD-60/SB . I am looking for a new guitar to add to my "collection" ( :D ): would the EC256 be a better guitar than an epiphone dot? Really hard to choose.
I am in the market for a "Les Paul" type guitar but not wanting to pay over $1,000 for one. Been looking at Epiphone Les Paul Custom, Epi Matt Heafy Les Paul Custom and now looking at ESP/LTD types of Les Pauls. Would love some feedback on Epiphone vs ESP/LTD "Les Paul's". What is the best bang for the buck $???
I've got a question if someone would mind answering. Is the EC-256 a good guitar for a beginner guitarist who is past the entry level (like me) who wants a decent guitar for around $400-$500? Or are there better choices out there?
Definitely a good option. Keep looking around and go to guitar stores and try them out personally to make sure you like them. Try as many as possible. Assuming you havent already bought one
