Having now used both sets, Flowtoys have the advantage. A friend of mine recently got a pair of ninja poi, and upon removal from the packaging there were several quality concerns. There was evidence of cracking near the base of the outer o-rings and after a couple of uses the attachment point on the ninja poi was already showing advanced wear. Keeping in mind that having a modular system with flowtoys, you can expand your abilities with a minimal cost over the long term.
I have had my ninja poi for about 2 months now and they are amazing. Smash them together all the time and they have not broken at all. I know I have hit them together a few times and the lights go out and wont turn back on, but it's usually because the batteries are dead so i just recharge and they work fine. If you have the ninja poi and they go out after whacking together make sure the batteries aren't dead before assuming they're broken...
Thanks for the review! I have a bunch of G1 Flowlights so I thinks I'll go ahead and get the Ninja Poi for my next addition...but I'm definitely going to invest in some G2s eventually!
Can't say anything about ninja poi, but my flowtoys are going on well over a year, and that's 3 different pairs, 2 I use and 1 my gf uses. We got them early in our poi spinning careers and we smashed them into eachother a LOT, and no problems so far!
After playing with the ninja poi for a few hours, already noticed a few cracks in the case, chipping on the bottom. The next day, I go to play with them again. Perform a fatal butterfly collision, one dies. I emailed home of poi, told them what happened, and they are sending me a replacement! I still have my doubts. My friends that have flowtoys lasted a lot longer, however, you have to smack them to get LED’s to work or they have stopped working all together.
@pengy945 I too got a pair of nebula about 6 months ago. They are G2s. But you can check by removing the battery door and there should say G2 next to where the battery goes. That is how you know.
The battery covers DO NOT stay in of their own accord, you have to keep at least 1 ring on to hold the door on. They also now have black rings for the jailhouse look :)
gotta agree @Pasquo. After spinning for less than a month the casing snapped right below the connection ring on me. E-mailed HOP with pics and was replaced in less than two weeks though. Looked at my broken ninjas, and looks like the plastic casing that connection loop is on is only casted on one side (both sides not getting even stress). Replacing the metal links that connect to the head with cloth (theres a video on RU-vid) will also help save the heads. Other than that I
i actually broke on of my friends Ninja Poi the Day he got them, doing a butterfly, the Poi simply refused to turn back on there was no structural damage visible, he contacted HOP and got them replaced with a new *G2* model, so far they have seem to hold up so far, my biggest complaint are the Rings down the body, they are really sticky (they catch on everything....always) i also agree that should focus on Quality of patterns, the ones that are good are awesome and deserve elaboration.
Spectrum flowlights for the win!!!! I think that the flowlights FEEL nicer, and spin more comfortably than the ninja poi, doing glowstinging type spinning, or infinite spiral wraps for example feels way more comfortable with the flowtoys I think......... Changing the battery on the ninja poi is annoying, and those rubber link can become loose in travel... however, the pod poi are epic and you should just get those!!!!!!! =]
I ordered the new ninja V2's from home of poi they said they were the brightest they sell and I trust them.. Are these the older ninjas not the V2's? I hear the ninja v2's are way brighter then the new flopoi
Pretty much agree with everything in the vid personally i have flowlights they are really good but as you said lack the ability to change colours the modes are sick though
Homeofpoi No longer carries NinjaPoi. Well that's what I think because when I search of them on the site nothing pops up other then the buffer rings and the battery door...I ordered a pair on Dec 9th and still don't have them Its Dec 28th right now...I really hope I have them before new years eve...If I don't im going to be very disappointed :/ and btw meenik Your tutorials are very very helpful over the past year I've gotten pretty good by your teachings!!! :)
can you get em with extra rings? or should i just get reg and paint the rings black?/ take em off when i dont want the effect...also i dont ever hit em but do they tend to fall apart on their own???
So far i heard ninj poi crack real fast. I personally use flowlights over a year. In the bigining i didnt use any crystal and i was suprised of their durability. With the crystal they are unbreakably. HOWEVER, the ninja have more colors. I think when ninjas will get durabilaty it will be time to compare. Now its just too early. And its cool HOP are doing new pois :)
They no longer carry them? Good, it's probablly because of all the complaints of what garbage the quality is. I love HOP and have been satisfied with every product of theres BUT these. Mine broke within a few days, after complaining Tom said they had a flaw where the circuit board becomes loose and shifts with the slightest knock together. His answer was to open them up to push the circuit board back. This worked great. Then I realized I don't feel like doing this every 5 minutes while spinning.
the ninja Poi look as if there is already a burned out section in it.. there should be 4 sections of lights. i only see 3, and one not lit up.. (flaw?)
Used NinjaPoi, own g1 flowtoy's. I like flowtoys more crystal case for my warps...NinjaPoi are just ackward to me...but other then that I find them very equal. I just wish FlowToy upgrade the battery to AA :/
Awesome color spectrum not so Awesome durability. After spinning these things less than a month, i went to one festival and the casing on the top of the poi handle completely ripped off, and the other one looks like its about to go too. good thing i had the new Flow Loops and was able to Jimmy Rig the broken one. I have contacted HOP and hopefully they will be able to replace them for me. Overall these things are amazing except when it breaks or you give yourself a minor concussion.
Aftee about 3 weeks one if my ninja poi wont turn on, boo ninjapoi's durability. The casing also has a lot of damage. I just order trick concepts extreme poi, those should kick ass. But I bet the most durable are the ones super bright toys used to sell...
Everybody I know that has these are good spinners and they don't break them or rip anything..my Freind had the old ninjas for over a year...if your still a beginner and your smacking your poi together all the time then of course something is going to break..practice with Egg poi so you don't break poi you don't need
@thebrillopad it relly dont have character with ninja poi i can express myself better due to the fact im not confined to one set of collors and ninja poi put jus bout every flowlight color in there exept for soul cause soul is bland
Guys don't order Ninjas if your not an experienced spinner.. Id your ripping the rubber then your probably spinning way to fast..these arnt rave toys guys. And I woudnt learn moves that can smack your poi together..I bought these cause I have everymove down almost and I don't spin like a maniac like some ppl
