Thank you for reviewing this switch! I was considering getting one of these. I think I might get one since I can solder, so I can fix it if necessary.

I know that this is a 3-y.o. video at this point but you might be interested in the video entitled "8 port AV switch box review and signal ground modification" also posted about 3 years ago by DrCassette. It points out repairable ground deficiencies on one of the two boards in the exact same 8-port unit.

At the end of the video you don't seem to highly recommend this switch or at least not a long term solution. Is there any high quality rca splitters you would recommend? I would like to get one that doesn't casue signal degradation or have soldering issues, any advice would be appreciated!

It's honestly just a luck of the draw when it comes to budget rca switches. Many companies, especially those in China, can vary wildly when it comes to quality and production standards, even when an item looks exactly the same. Some companies have more strenuous quality control than others. If I had the capital to go out and buy a few of these switches, I would do so and review each one like I did with this one but alas, I don't. I was looking for a cheap solution at the time. Powered switches tend to be of better quality, but they are also more expensive.

How do you connect it to play the vintage video game systems. I know they have the red white yellow plugs; but how would that work?

Your TV must have either those rca plugs (the yellow, red and white) or you need to use a converter to convert the rca signal to an hdmi signal with something like this. This specific one does not need a DC adapter to work due to it being solely a mechanical switch. Switches that use DC adapters usually have an amplifier circuit to amplify the incoming signal and push it through an output. Sometimes the switches that use a DC adapter also have internal relays or circuitry to control the outputs and can be controlled with a remote. The downside of a switch that doesn't use a DC adapter is the possibility of signal loss or poor video/sound quality and not having an ability to use a remote control but they are also cheaper to manufacture which means cheaper to buy.
