Excellent amp. This will likely be my next amp. I have a Marshall DSL 20 combo now and while I love it and have played Marshalls and Boogies and Randalls and Peaveys and Fenders since the 80s I like the great tones and simple controls of the HT series. I've tried them all at my local Guitar Center and they totally knock me out. And I've always been a combo guy. I had one Marshall stack and that was it. It was like moving a grand piano anytime I had a gig, like a big piece of furniture. Combos just make sense and they have more than enough volume. I also like the efficiency and smoothness of the tone controls on the HT. The ISF knob not only helps dial in sweet spots between the Mesa Boogie and Marshall/British tone spectrum, but they work smoothly. I can't tell you how many times I've had to finagle with the tone knobs on a Marshall anytime I turned it back on because they just don't retain the settings you dial in. They are just not constant and reliable. Nice demo.

Best explanation of the ISF feature I have ever heard!

Very helpful and thorough review, without dragging it all out. Excellent! I have the original HT20 Studio, and I've been thinking for the last two years do I need to upgrade and get the MKII or not. I am now sure that I don't need to upgrade, but I am also sure that I absolutely want to upgrade!

I have played the original ht20 and it’s great. The mk2 is revoiced compared to the mk1. It’s a lot more versatile and has more gain on the second channel

It's definitely a very versatile amp. The kind of amp you could get if you're indecisive about your sound and want to experiment certain flavors.

Killer amp! I think very sweet and toneful with tons of crunch and overdrive options. I love mine and I have 8 amps Marshall to Fender to compare and it always wins...

is the built-in speaker good?
@ethagr8162

Hey I’m the guy in the video. The built in speaker is good. it’s got a lot of good bass response that makes you app sound bigger than it actually is. the top end is pretty level and not accentuated where it’s piercing. I’ve experimented with a speaker from a basic marshal cabinet and I ended up going with the bull in speaker. keep in mind I primarily play slightly overdriven tones to crunch. I don’t use this for high gain.

Should I go for marshall dsl20cr or blackstar ht20r mkii combo?
@markkosa1
@markkosa1 3 года назад
Marshall sounds great cranked for that "Marshal tone" but that is it, sounds kinda flat at lower gain and clean volume settings. I have the HT20MKII with a Celestion V type speaker and it is marvelous clean, pushed clean, crunch and overdriven...PLUS it has a 2 watt button for fat home use and a global master volume that does not affect the tone! The amp sounds big with tons of bass...It is an amazing amp and I am comparing to my Fender Bassbreaker 15 and Blackstar Studio 10 El34. Just my opinion but it is my best amp out of the 8 amps I own and play daily.

If you want more of that cranked classics rock tone go for the Marshall. If you need versatility then go with the blackstar

@@markkosa1 Do you prefer the Studio EL34 or the HT20? Does the Studio do the Marshall thing better?
@markkosa1
@markkosa1 2 года назад
@@audiobunny1767 Tough call as both sound great. The HT20 MKII is so much better overall, sounds bigger and has a global master volume so you can get a great sound then dial it back to what loudness you need. Plus the 2 watt option, 2 channels and 2 voices each...the winner.
@markkosa1

Both can be dialed into a Marshall sound easily. Remember Blackstar engineers worked for Marshall before they left to start Blackstar.
