This is only to check and be able to replace your worn clutch facings, shoes, bearings and brass ring…….if necessary. Check your worm shaft splines and cap splines while you’re at it. Replace as necessary. Make sure your clutch shoes are a matched pair in thickness. Happy tinkering !

Good video. And at my age, I don’t let anybody pull on my worm shaft!

6:19 I always thought when comparing the two machines that the AMF machines were engineered more like something you would find in a factory, where as the Brunswick was designed more like a car. After all, AMF was known for building industrial production equipment for many industries long before they got in to the bowling business. Also with an AMF you get the best of both world's. Simple mechanics and simple electronics working together. On an 82/70 there's only three motors and one or two solenoids depending on how old the machine is. The chassis controls when each solenoid or motor runs. The rest is mechanical. The backend, ball lift, and distributor all are entirely mechanical. Also the movement of the respot cells and pin cups is mechanical as well. The AMF machines can also be easily be integrated with scoring to optimize itself. Eliminating first table run on strikes, and running the sweep reverse on gutters saves time and wear and tear. On top of all this the AMF machines is modular. If a problem comes up during league the majority of the time it can be fixed within minutes by changing the troublesome assembly. The machines "brain" (chassis) can be swapped in about 45 seconds with a couple plugs and latches. Swapping out the gearbox on an A2 is a much more labor intensive procedure. With all that said, I can still appreciate an A-2 as they can run well. And for the most part I don't believe there is such a thing as a bad machine, only bad mechanics. AMF seems to get a bad rep mostly because it takes a special kind of mechanic knowledgeable in both electronics and mechanics to make them run well. Many mechanics are lacking on one of the these skills. I've been working on AMFs for years and I've seen them run fantastic with the right guy in the back!

I've been in the business for 45 years and for the majority of those years I was a Brunswick man but I did spend 10 years on AMF machines 8230 and 70 and I have always found that on an AMF machine you have to hit an exact spot in order for the machine to run when you make an adjustment as to where a Brunswick machine you can have it within the general area and it will run until you dial it in and then once you said it you can forget it AMF machine is not that way you have to find that exact spot any deviation from either side of that plus or minus and it'll goof up but I can make them both run and run efficiently

Explained very well. I shared your video with a Brunswick guy i know who is working at a bowling center and fixing the A2 pinsetters that were neglected over the years. He thanked me for your video, and might have questions for you Rob? Thanks for sharing this video!!
