Gearmatic Winch problems 

Easiest way to determine if it’s the control or the winch is pop the cover off and see if the actuator arm strokes when the winch control lever is pressed. If not, focus on the hydraulic side, if yes, focus on the mechanical side. There’s nothing to those winches , just need to be cleaned internally and properly adjusted. I’d bet your in need of adjustment or the secondary band has oil on it based on what it’s doing. I suspect your primary (skinny one) band is engaging thus it begins to winch the load but your secondary (wide one) band fails to bite due to wear or extreme out of adjustment. It doesn’t seem to me like a hydraulic issue. Basically once that actuator strokes the control arm enough to engage the winch it ought to bite the secondary (load carrying) band. I have a CanCar 20B and it’s nearly identical. I love it, works great. As far as parts DAVCO in Farmington Maine has every part on that winch and control in stock for reasonable prices. They also stock mostly OEM parts not crappy aftermarket junk. They have ceramic clutch bands and fiber brake bands. They have used winch controls and new winch controls plus every part in between, trust me. They can square you away NP. They are real good about tech support to, speak to John or Mario. If they’re helpful send them some business. They ship anywhere in the world and are one of the few shops that has extensive Tree Farmer new old stock.

I normally get parts through Valley trucks. Which is in Michigan but you can probably find a truck supply store close by to you

Looks like a real pain in the you know where but it can't be all peachy. Looks like some of the trees that they marked will be ready for harvest in about 5 to 10 years. Good luck with getting the skidder fixed maybe its something simple. Keep up the great videos

People still make bows out of Osage Orange or hedge apple Trees supposed to be some of the best Primitive bows But those things do have thorns on them that will put the Hurting to you if you're not careful made

You were saying it's a extention to a sub division, so would they keep any trees standing or just clear fell?
