The great Gears of War piece was a CG from Blur Studio, using in-game assets from UE5.
Game info: Gears of War: E-Day is the next mainline game in the Gears of War universe, set during the pivotal Emergence Day. Fourteen years before Gears of War, war heroes Marcus Fenix and Dom Santiago return home to face a new nightmare: the Locust Horde. These subterranean monsters, grotesque and relentless, erupt from below, laying siege on humanity itself.

E-Day has always been something that's fascinated me since I've played to first game and now almost 20 years on we get to play through those events. The Reach comparison isn't far off as fans were hooked on the Fall of Reach novel.

Judgement had that brutal Karn as main boss, the horror he led alongside Raam was just unthinkable for the Gears. Pendulum War ended just the day before this event. Let's not also forget that Anya was in the control room that pushed the button of the Hammer of Dawn, that's going to be sad to see.

@@crabLT But in the interview that dropped right after the reveal, it was hinted that we may still get the mk2 lancer in the campaign. Which means that the whole game probably won’t happen during the very first day alone. I know it wouldn’t make sense to detour to halvo bay but I just thought it’d be cool

We are going to have to go through more heartbreak with Dom and his family again! Still remember searching for Maria the entire game and only to find her so she could die in our arms that scene was so intense. I’m ready for it! Let’s go! This is every gears of war fans dream. We all wondered what E Day was like. Raam will back. Hopefully his right hand man Jermad. This is gonna be a wild ride!

The creative director said that this is gonna follow Marcus and Dom’s relationship and how they strengthen their bond after Carlos died. For those who don’t know, Carlos is Dom’s older brother who died during the Pendulum War. My sneaking suspicion is that we’ll get some Pendulum War gameplay, maybe see Carlos dying, then we get to see how Dom and Marcus continue to live in this new world as it crumbles around them.

Listen to me, the story is going to take place at the end of the war against humans, then there will be peace, then the locusts appear just because of the lancer retro, maybe there will be an excerpt from the campaign at the end of the war between humans and they have to for a scene of them creating the current lancer with the chainsaw and possible characters carmine, probably clay because he is the oldest, Hoffman, kim and tai and possible mentions of baird and cole

The carmines were all kids then, (but I’m sure we’ll see will carmine or another carmine fight . Tai was probably out there fighting as well Hoffman was in city of Ephyra at the time along with Kim. Cole hadn’t join the army just yet Baird was recently new to the army

I think they planned to de a prequel about E-Day from the very start. The whole way the first games were set up just ask for a prequel. They keep talking about places, people and events that happened on and around E-Day. Even had a few characters Marcus supposedly knew from those days. Hell, Dom had an entire arc throughout the games about his family, but we never REALLY see them outside of that one cutscene that was a dream of Dom's if memory serves correct, and of course Maria's ending, but there's so many unanswered questions and characters to explore and I am convinced it was set up like that for exactly this game. I'll fully admit that I'm not as well versed in Gears lore as I am in Halo, but I did play all the games (just need to finish 5). I've replayed the original 3 games a ton of times and also played them with friends in splitscreen. Lot of fond childhood memories. Even though they kinda take a backseat to Bungie Halo, the Gears games hold a lot of sentiment for me. Dom's death hit me hard so seeing Dom again with Mad World playing broke me. I just hope the game ends up being the game we all wamt it to be. Unfortunately, we live in a time where publishers continuously mess with studios. From forcing mechanics said studios don't agree with, to a very bad job security and tons of layoffs. Publishers make them rush out products before these studios are ready to release them, with annoying stuff like MTX and battle-passes that a lot of us are sick of, and then when the game inevitably fails, the devs get blamed and fired and leadership will carelessly contimue their bad practices. I really hope this doesn't happen to this game. Whoever the leaders in charge of this are, please, let the devs cook and let them release it when THEY are ready, not when your shareholders pressure you to release the game unfinished!

This game worries me a little. We won't see many of our loved characters in this game. The only ones we might see are Hoffman, Tai, Adam Fenix, Bernie and MAYBE Anya. Every other character they meet sometime between 1 and 5. This isn't the thing that worried me, we've got great games without all the characters already. The thing that worries me is whether or not they can create intresting ones in the span of 1 game when we practically KNOW the outcome of it. It'll also be hard to get us invested in characters that we know likely wont live.

If anyone is wondering, we have seen a little of the emergence day in Tactics and Judgement. With the use of the Hammer of Dawn. But this, is the exact moment the invasion happens, it's beautiful. Note: The lancer with the chainsaw won't exist here, that's why we see the retro. The chainsaw lancer wasn't invented yet.

@@KhanWolf95 The Lancer's origins were retconned. Adam Fenix saw a video of Tai Kaliso's last ditch effort by killing Locust with a Chainsaw when his Bayonet broke and had only gardening tools nearby to fight back after running out of ammo. The weapon was engineered to fix that issue but the COG found out that if you try to use a Lancer against a Locust there's a small chance the bone fragments will high-speed launch into the user like shrapnel even while using Osmium armor due to the speed of the fragments. The weapon was launched but the COG officially advised to use it only to clear a path like rundown houses or to break doors and to not use it against Locust because of the aforementioned issues. The majority of the Gears didn't give a fuck and used it like that or both situations if they could considering not doing so was just as equally lethal if a Locust gets a grip on you first. Casualties from bone fragmentation are an unknown statistic, current Lancer models are much safer and people can use them with casual clothes and rarely get hurt from any sort of shrapnel or never at all because of a few redesigns made by Marcus Fenix and then refined by Daemon Baird to make the Lancer much safer, including a fix to the Bayonet's design so the user can rev it at any time even while reloading, previous models actually had a connected barrel-chainsaw system that disabled the chainsaw if you expelled the cartridge by moving the bayonet forward and then moving it back into functional position (connect with the motor) to prevent accidental rev ups and thus lose of fingers/limbs but it came as inconvenient in-battle because it meant having to ensure the cartridge regardless of it having ammor left or not didn't dislodge or else the Lancer's bayonet was as good as a regular saw and less useful than a Mark 1 Lancer Bayonet. In-game through the games that predated Gears 4 and 5 we never experience this issue for the sake of balance and convenience.

From the beginning we know the end, a lot of characters are going to die in this game, E-Day was a true horror show that even messed up hardened vets of the Pendulum war. This game will show how terrifying the locusts were when it began, no one could effectively fight them the first year.

It hammers home how deadly and different an enemy the locusts are then the UIR. A lot if vets from the Pendulum War were completely outclassed, and these were people who were fresh off a war ending, no one had lost their edge yet.

@@miguelcribillero3536 Reading them in order of publication date is how to do it. Start with Aspho Fields and go from there if you like them. I’d consider them GoW canon, but I’m not sure if that’s an official stance (if there is one).

Hope we get to see Tai in this. Canonically, he’s the one that first used a chainsaw to kill a drone when his bayonet broke. That’s where the idea for a chainsaw bayonet came from.

I am really glad to see my boy Dom back. But at the same time unprepared of what Gears of War: E-Day has in stored for us. From what I recalled, Dom and Maria lost their children on Emergency Day which led up to his wife fell in despair and leave Jacinto. The rest we know what happens in Gears 1 & 2.

Even though we have not gotten to seen the Pendulum Wars (other than from the novels and comics) Emergency Day is the event of the Gears of War Universe we haven’t fully explored. And this is what I have been waiting to see since the first Gears of War game came out in 2006. What an impact this reveal trailer this is! 🔥 🔥🤩🤯

It's a shame the Pendulum Wars only got a fraction of it in the beginning of Gears of War 4, but I'm pretty sure we will eventually have a full game with it too.

Brother, I had the same reaction in 3. Tears and all, of all the stories told in movies, or books or anything... Gears is the one that latched on to my heart. Dom's moment in 3 was devastating, and along with it the moment he reached down to save Marcus in the E-Day trailer, the blade on his chest, finally the full face... oh man. It was hard not to be emotional with the Mad World running behind it. Holy smokes, I'm pumped

It's very likely that GoW: E-Day may be a testing of the waters. Showing people what the Marcus Fenix collection might look like upon release and how well it might be received based on how well E-Day is received. People had a similar reaction with the most recent Metroid game I believe.
