As a kid this is the game I obsessed over. I remember watching this trailer over and over again, I must have watched it over a thousand times. I’ll never forget the feeling I had when I finally got an Xbox 360 for Christmas and started playing this on Christmas Day.
Same thing happened to me with Halo for PC, when my parents bought it for me for Christmas and I played it all day long! Awesome memories, then when I bought X360, Gears of War was the other game able to give me the same feelings of something new and really exciting, and to think that now I have a daughter, time flies, it’s almost 14 years right now. Have fun playing mate!
I worked at a sports bar during this time and I remember when this commercial first came on, the entire bar went silent. The bar was large, two floors, and filled packed. It was an awesome experience.
I was kid when I first seen it, I think during a football game. Then about a month later I was at Gamecrazy and they were playing it and I seen Marcus chainsaw a dude and it blew my mind. My dad and I ran through the campaign countless times, one of my favorite games of all time.
Love this trailer. The way the darkness and dread are portrayed is eerie. A world that was once home, now a charred battleground. Enemies in front, enemies behind, no escape, no hope, and yet he pushes on from one impossible situation to another. The depression and hopelessness of the world are further reinforced by Gary Jules, which is just a masterwork of a piece of music and fits perfectly with the scene. So much captured in a minute. Beautiful.
No game trailer has ever come as close to this one. It captures so much with so little. The epic backdrop of an apocalyptic war clashing with the sorrow and fear enveloping the ones that fight it. This is the true epitome of game trailers, and this game more than deserves it
You cannot deny that the Starry Night and Believe Halo 3 trailers were equally as powerful as this one. They probably also drew inspiration from this trailer as well.
I remember seeing this on TV way back when I still had an Xbox Original lol, doesn't feel like that long ago, man time goes by fast when you're busy having fun :O
Andres Cobo don't you go on my channel much, everything is in the About section on my channel m8 ;) anyways its xboxgamer969 but I only play on Xbox One now
***** It's not showing me the about section. I don't know if that's because I'm using a mobile device. I also don't have an Xbox one so its all your fault I'm gonna kill myself.
JK193765 That reaction from marcus is what made this trailer a true classic, the trailer shows nothing from the game, but it shows what Gears of War was all about in the beginning, a helpless world being overtaken by a locust swarm, just surviving is hell
I remember back when this trailer came out I said "Wouldn't it be cool if someday games actually looked like this trailer." Now in 2016 games actually look better than this. It's amazing.
This trailer is so amazing, especially the end of it. The fear on Marcus’ face cutting to show the insane size difference of him and the corpser emphasizing the feeling of complete dread and uselessness. Such a well made trailer and it was done so well.
All these years later, and this still gives me chills. Cheers to those teenage years staying up until 4am with my friends trying to beat this on Insane 🍻
Whenever I hear this song, it takes me back to this trailer. I'll never forget watching this at my friend's house and getting so freaking excited for the game to come out.
I remember coming home after school from the 3rd grade, and in my brothers room he was playing GOW. I was so jealous because I had a band concert that night and had to leave, I'll never forget it.
The fact the end as you see the despair on the face of this unknown soldier running from unknown horror and the lighting is only from the lancer and the helmets showing how hopeless this world is in
Best trailer I’ve ever seen. I’m 23 and was 12 when it came out. So many memories I can’t even put into words.. just wanted to share how much this meant to me .. feels like yesterday
Truly one of the best pieces of art work ever. Please consider my bias of this being one of the best video games of all time. What a song, what a cinema. Bless whoever made this trailer
good times. this was the first game me and my brothers purchased ourselves along with the 360 and a second controller. i remember playing it all night and just being amazed at the graphics. it's already been 8 years?!
I know right. Really really hard to believe. I also did a similar thing to you, bought the game, and a second controller. Add a good mate to the mix and O for orsum!
