Gedore ist well know for their high quality tools made in Germany. Let's have a look at their ratchet spanners and compare them with a few other brands.

I know it isn't fun making negative reviews, but I thank you for the honest presentation. Good information.

Thank you! I wasn't sure if I wanted to post anything about it. Now I am glad I did. Neither of the shown tools is a highlight. Ratcheting spanners seem to be a niche product no one is willing to put some effort in. Regards, Etna.

This video made me go and thourghly inspect my own Gedore 7R - 012 set, i have not found any of the issues mentioned in this video, well except the crooked metalized sticker. I do defintely agree with the statements made in this video, seeing reputable brands like Hazet rebrand and sell quite average products with a heafty markup is disapointing to clients who look for a lasting tool.

Do you know when you bought your set? I have nothing against rebranding things as long as the quality doesn't lack. Hazet has a rebranded Felo screwdriver set in their portfolio that I can't complain about. In the past it was somewhat common for the Remscheid community of tool manufacturers that niche tools would be made by one and sold under 4 or 5 brands. Regards, Etna.

My set was bought september 2022. With Hazet i was thinking about some of their their pneumatic tools like some models of impact wrenches which seem to be sold under different brands like facom or even USs harbor freight earthquake brand

I absolutely hate when ratcheting wrenches are sometimes good in backdrag and others are very hard to turn. Shows serious lack of manufacturing consistency and quality. This is a lot more common than most people realize, but most don’t seem to care, I do. My rule of thumb is when I get a ratcheting wrench I always dip the ratcheting head in thin aircraft motor oil and exercise the mechanism quite a bit with a drill in slow speed for best reduced backdrag and lubricating it

Was da an Kerben drin ist...

I bought the Gedore 8248-160 Combination pliers, angled, 160 mm brand new and the cutters were absolutely dull as they get. My hopes were way high and the reality is, they have quality control issues.
@Etna.
@Etna. Год назад
I can't say much about their pliers as they never occured to me as a pliers-brand. But it is sad to hear. Regards, Etna.

Amazing review Etna! I have the same set that I bought 7 years ago and I like it. Its sad to see these brands sell out for money

What you mentioned here about quality is 100% reality. But... it isn't connected only with GEDORE, Just looke at any German made Car, new and that which was made 10-15-20 years ago, both will say made in Germany, but newer stuff can't be compared to the old analogues, old is the way better. To be honest, tools made in West Germany are the best for their quality.

I own the gedore 7ur 012 and I find them excellent, they have an angled ring end and have selector switch for direction change, I guess they are not for everyone that's your choice.

To me it is purely a quality issue. I expect more from German companies. But that's only the case because I've seen so many tools from the past that are way better. Regards, Etna.

I have had exactly the same experience with the "Gedore 7R" and some of them were slightly bent. I'm still looking for an alternative with a straight head.

Hey @Etna, I'd love to see a video of your chuck swapped Bosch 12V drill.
@Etna.
@Etna. Год назад
Hi! Thanks for that input. I am gathering some things right now and I want to make a small series about their 12V tools. Are you also interested in a self made drill in a casing out of red acetate? That would also be upcoming. But don't try to get a date out if me. Stuff happens and priorities shifted a bit. Hope you have some patience! Regards, Etna.

I have the same stahlwille set but it is branded as a Biltema tool (swedish chain). I paid around 100euros for the same set and the button mechanic sucks. Its way too easy to bumb the switch on something in close spaces.
@Etna.

It never occurred to me but good to know. Seems possible. I didn't have this in mind. But I would still prefer the buttons over a loose feeling lever. But the best solution would be a straight ratchet that only moves in one direction. Regards, Etna.

So what the hell should I buy now? If even german top brands are made in the far east. Is NOS the only way forward?
@Etna.
@Etna. 9 месяцев назад
Well... This type of tool wasn't common back then, so NOS wouldn't be really an option. But I can't see a way forward in buying NOS. But the again I feel that older Carolus and Rahsol tools - that were the B team back then - feel higher quality than todays Gedore. Regards, Etna.

Those Gedore wrenches are pitiful coming from their name, truly a sad thing to see (but all to familiar now) especially given their history of real, quality tools. As for the Wera wrenches I find their slightly larger head design reassuring built and have never had a problem with them being too thick (for what they are), I would rather support Czechoslovak manufacturing than Vietnamese anyhow
@Etna.
@Etna. Год назад
I'd do it, if it wasn't so annoying to use these Wera. Have a listen and closer look at that part were I use them. These teeth engage all the time. They scratch the nut, bite into it and keep sticking. I just can't stand them. Regards, Etna.
