What a player stengle is. Delisted at the end of 2020. Gets picked up by Geelong and makes all Australian. Best team all year. May the best team win next Saturday
Outstanding team performance by Geelong. superbly led by Danger & Selwood. Their defensive setup, ball movement, selflessness, contest work, Stengle's freakish goals... They were up by 63 at the 3QT. They're such an evenly balanced team. Scored 18 goals for the game (could've been more) and kept Brisbane to under 50 points. What a win. The GF will be Selwood's 40th finals game, the most ever by a player. I hope Max Holmes is fit to play. He's been a gun!!
Why is Footy so cruel? Let's hope Max can play in the GF. He's been a gun all year. According to Fox, he had the highest player rating in the game till that moment.
Would've said the exact same thing if you hadnt already. Im sick of geelong due to their ongoing success but it wouldnt feel right if they didnt get it this year. Danger deserves a premiership medal too, you can tell how much he wants it with the way he played in this.
Geelong are way too op I'm going to say they will probably win the premiership since this team is way different compared to previous years but in a much better way the only team I recon that may beat them is the swans
Incredible performance from the cats, this was well played from their leaders and their scoring power, defence, midfield etc jelled so well last night against the lions and earned their spot in the grand final. The cats are the most deserving of winning this year's flag given that in most seasons when they play really well in the home and away season but crumble down in finals this is a different cats side just like from 2007-2011. All the best for the cats next week and may the best team win between the pies and the swans. (Coming from a Tiger fan)
@@drongosadventures7576 Not surprised tbh, a fair few tiger fans gave the cats fans a few reminders of their past woes in previous AFL finals since 2012. When it was the start of the finals series this year, I questioned to myself whether the cats would continue their cycle of losing in the first week (Despite this year and 2016) but managing to win in the second week (except 2014) then would either lose in the third week (except from 2020 and this year) or to go on and win the whole thing. I initially thought that the cats would repeat that cycle (not biased though just a gut feeling) but this year the cats have continued their strong form in the home away season (and many years since 2007) into the finals and got what they deserved.
@@samrasmussen33 and here, I have to do the unthinkable as a cat's fan and say that this is a class response. As much as I hate it, it's only a matter of time until the hawks come back swinging
Nearly 78,000 people in attendance for this dominant performance by Geelong. Since 1989, they have been to over a dozen preliminary finals and their tenth GF appearance during that span (1989, 1992, 1994, 1995, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2011, 2020 and 2022).
This is what happens when your team plays in an unsportsmanlike fashion. 10 goals behind, 10 minutes to go and you're trying to break Dangers arm, or your flatten Selwood after he has passed the ball.
Best moment was Rory slone putting him out cold flat on the floor, even in person I'd hid and shoulder him or selwood and be prepared to punch there heads in, terrible attitudes and weak men get them in gym curling 80kg with me watch em break.
Shame they Brisbane didn't go as hard when the game begun. I would have run through every tagger. Oh yes , it's all or nothing. Taggers are leaches. Cut them off. As for Selwood and Dangerfield the only way to beat warriors is too be a warrior.
@@dean7273 just cause Ur weak and the 4 people who liked Ur comment send me location if you want to be teached then Dean were all waiting for you're reply now.
Pathetic show by the lions, didnt even show up. Can't even solely blame Daniher like people are, its a team game. Barely looked like putting in an effort after the 1st half, (not to disregard how good geelong looked). And then resorted to their unsportsman like play later in the game when they were in the ground and done. I suppose its no surprise though, its brisbane in a final after all. Failing is a certainty.
I don’t know how to spell his name but I feel bad for our youngest player who probably doesn’t get to play in the GF. But because he is young he gets so many more opportunities.
Outstanding Team Performance by the Geelong cats led by Selwood and Danger this is a great game I was there we were in the grand final after this we won the Preliminary Final
Sydney need to win first i dont fear Sydney at all there not that good like everyone thinks they beat melbourne who lost in sets falling a sleep at half time
Ah well, I’m content with our finals series. 2 great wins and bundled out by the in form side of the comp with 15 straight wins. Wish we still put up a little more of a fight but it is what it is. Still a lil salty about those 2 HTBs that set the tone of the game in the first but the better team one. Go on Catters
I don't know what the deal is with the Lions..?? Just so settled with being a top 8 team without really threatening to win the comp. Same can be said of the Cats too..seem to be a ligitimate top 4 team and only after 11 years of being one of the top 8 or 10 teams look like winning the comp.
@@adriandevil7232 So true... Only you'd think they'd have won 3 or 4 comps in that time... And last night's prelim was probably not the best pressure game before a grand final..
@@adriandevil7232 well, I was talking about since 2011... Since 2011 Geelong have not won a Flag and runner up once to Richmond. It's good contending but you play to win the comp not just to sit in the top 8.. since 2011 Hawthorn 3 Flags, Richmond 3 Flags, West Coast, Bulldogs and Sydney a flag each. Geelong no flag since 2011.
I'm not a Geelong supporter but would be nice seeing them win a flag after all the years of dominance but failure in finals. I've got a funny feeling Collingwood are going to shock everybody and win today and next week. I hope not but that's what my gut is telling me
Think of the amount of players they're cherry picked out of teams Dalhouse Isaac Smith Dangerfield Stengel Cameron thooey even got Ablett back for a season what makes Geelong a destination club for players
I think your right but it makes it like a premier league scenario where there top 6 clubs take the best player's after they've proved themselves elsewhere i don't what premier league football because it's an absolute waste of a competition
@@aaronsmith5154 you can still only operate within the salary cap. So no it's not like the Premier League. Players like Hawkins and Selwood have taken considerable pay cuts in order to make room in the cap. It's called playing for the love of your club rather than money.
@@JustKindComeng idc if Collingwood loses cause I’m tipping Sydney to win the grand final even my team Collingwood will lose to them I still tip them from winning
The Brisbane cubs. Bloody pathetic effort. Soft as marshmallows. Playing for G.F. would never have known. Lockyee Neil needed a screen. Not one player ripped into each tag 5. Every Brisbane player should of kicked the crap out of each tagger. Yes , Geelong played well. But Brisbane showed no character , guts and determination. Fight ! Geelong sucked you in. Geelong are soft. Sydney aren't as skillful as Geelong but hey I guarantee ya they will fight to the very end. Collingwood skillful as well but may need to harden up against Sydney. Brisbane didn't want it as much ya were beat before ya run on to ground. Oh Daniel Rich you are a seagull looking for kicks on outside. In finals you need to do more .
This might be a long list. As an AFL neutral, I'm not feeling too confident with Collingwood facing Sydney on their home turf, and i can already forsee some negativity on AFL's twitter and their youtube comment sections before and after the game (over-reactions, i know). From the team that has being at the bottom of the barrel last year to the top 8 this season with a 11 game winning hot streak under a new coach. I think that's really impressive. If they lose, that's fine. Don't want anybody making them look bad because they got this far into the competition and too much hate is NEVER a good look. Best of luck, Sydney fans. ;) Well done, geelong.
bloody hell mate the Fitzroy lions went bankrupt 26 years ago, and did not have enough money to stay in the league. They ended up merging with the brisbane bears to stay in the league as the Brisbane Lions.
@@JustKindComeng I mean around the 90's fans just stopped showing up to their games, they were losing almost every single game in a season, and their membership sales were declining. Correct me if i'm wrong.
There was some terrible calls by the umpires on both teams behalf. Especially at quarter and half time with the calls that were given where it was called holding the ball and ball, even though he just picked it up.
I honestly don't know why so many people spam in the comments section of AFL matches. Anyway, a review: And then there were three teams remaining. Geelong dominated Brisbane after quarter time and never looked back after that, thrashing Brisbane for the second time in a Preliminary Final in three years. The only downside for Geelong? Holmes MIGHT be in doubt for next week. As for Brisbane, they should be proud of themselves for even making it to the Preliminary Finals from 6th place, including a takedown of Premiers Melbourne. Unfortunately for the Lions, they will have to wait until next year. Can Geelong notch up their first Grand Final victory in eleven years next week? Time will tell, no doubt.
No one likes Geelong, going to be the worst GF since 2007 if Sydney win prelim. Not a Collingwood supporter. Can only hope for an upset to make it interesting.
