Yes Kamalasulochani geetham is classified under the Raga Ananda bhairavi from a very long time ..it is said to be composed by Saint Purandaradasa (1484 to 1565). This geetham as carried in most text books starts with the phrase like NDNS and has a phrase PNDN PDNS also which is inconsistent with the Aarohana and Avarohana of the present day Anandabhairavi that we follow now by convention.. PDPS is the uttrarangam part of the scale that we now follow from perhaps the times of Shri Badrachalam Ramdas(1620 to 1680)who composed Paluke Bangaramayena and the Trinity who came after Shri Ramadas and whom St Thyagaraja looked up to . Perhaps the Kamalasulochani being a geetham was set to a more easier folk tune as it was an Aarambha paatam or the Ragam Aanandabhairavi may have evolved gradually to its present day form during the 16 th and 17 th century . Paluke was written in the 17 th century and hence has some other aspects like Shuddha Dhaivatam which the present Aanandabhairavi has but the geetham does not. The geetham may have been intentionally composed that way to carry a folk flavour and is not representative of the current day Aanandabhairavi at all. Maybe it's name has to be changed for the geetham so that students are not misled . Nevertheless the geetham has its own beauty whatever name by which we call it ! Thanks for the comment.
