This is footage taken (most likely), for the purpose of making promotional videos. It is just as it is from the master copy. Unedited.
I hope everyone enjoys these as much as I did, as you really don't see a lot of raw, soon-to-be promotional footage from a company. There will be several more videos of manure handling equipment coming from this tape, so stay tuned....
And....
Enjoy!!

Cool footage, can't imagine this piece of equipment was too successful.. loader would have been faster.

Don't know too much about it, but I don't think it was all that successful either. Fairly certain they tried grain loading with one as well & had mixed results. Interesting idea, though.

I was thinking the same thing. Could have had that spreader loaded with the skid loader in the time they spent trying to get everything lined up.

Neighbor next to us had one but it was a different brand, his worked good, have to keep backing up slowly and it would fill a spreader fast, faster then a tractor and loader and skid steer!

It was a good machine, but came out after most farms had gone to full slurry lagoon storage, or above ground manure storage. Well designed, as all Gehl equipment was, but late to the dance.

Very very cool to see. I have the sales brochure on this but never thought I would see one working.

That's cool. I have the manual, but I'm not so sure about the brochure. It is listed in one of the full line catalogs & a couple manure handling brochures. Also ran across a drawing of the brochure in the Gehl collection. I'd guess it's a proof to be ok'd for finalization. Neat stuff! Thanks for tuning in!

@@ikonseesmrno7300 yes the brochure shows this and the big tank type spreader together. Very neat concept. The buyers guide show it on an IH 886 for a couple of years.

Interesting piece of equipment - no way to innovate but to try ideas until they find the designs that meet the needs of farmers!

I haven’t heard a lot of good things about this. It doesn’t look like it would do good in sloppy shit and it’s pretty slow, cool though.

I don't know how much it cost, but it seems like an expensive solution to a problem. Also the elevator was not long enough to make it convient.

It didn't help that they were in an awkward spot. I think they should have scouted things out better before taking video. Also noticed that it was on a rather small tractor. The manual shows it on a 1086. That might have improved things a bit.

Did they build this? Or was this a prototype?

This loader came about with the acquisition of Hedlund Martin in the late '80s. I have no idea how many they sold. Don't think they were made in West Bend, either. Though I do recall seeing one sitting by one of the shop buildings for a number of years. There should be a couple slides scanned in of the old H-M by Gehl equipment in their green paint yet. I'll post them to the forum if they're fairly easy to find. There's a loooot of slides here!

@@ikonseesmrno7300 I think those were taken at PA's ag progress days in late summer on the Penn State ag research farm, the last picture with the barn in it sure fits. I might have even been there at the time but I sure don't remember green spreaders, but I do remember that time with that period Gehl logo. Got to keep a low key over there, every time I log in I get "Love Letters" in my email from Fan's yet...........Well, they are the farthest thing from love letters, but I have fan's I guess!!!! LOL

@@ikonseesmrno7300 No, that is quite ok. I was actually last on to PM someone who I lost contact info for. Try to watch from afar. Keep the videos coming, I enjoy them very much. I find it amazing the dealer here never had any of this that I knew of, so it is all new to me, even though I remember those machines sitting there new. Curious, are there any for the rebranded Vicon discbine sold under Gehl. Was one in those picture you put up that made me smile.

If only the manure was in a round pit and the loader had an agitator and pumped it without moving. Could maybe be vertical and if the manure was mixed into a liquid and the guy on the spreader had a remote and didn’t need a guy on the loader. Wait, that’s what we do now. Just kidding. Real neat footage. My dad and uncle had Gelh equipment when I was growing up in the 80’s. Thanks for sharing.

Hmm. Seems like more expense and trouble than a front loader. Maybe if the auger chute could extend and move, then it might be something. But neat raw footage. Yeah, probably can't show the H&S slinger. 😃

It works for me. H&S were heavy competition in the spreader market for some time. They can take a back seat every once & a while.😁
