This is one of those forgotten FPS games that nobody talks about or ever mentions. It is so obscure, that I expect someone will make a Doom mod of it some sunny day.
@@FerociousMit I was 11 or 12 and the spot that confused me as a kid was being the ghost and finding the way the game WANTED me to do it rather than the way I wanted to lol the first time any other time I just messed around until I figured it out lol
I loved the whole idea and game dynamics... It has a great start, but then it feels like they were rushing to meet a deadline and so the final chapters are pretty weak... I still liked it anyway, one of a very few actually original games
"DID YOU KNOW YOU CAN POSSESS THE DOGFOOD TO SOLVE A PUZZLE?" -Every single video game reviewer i was aware of at the time this released. Until your video, it was the only thing i knew about. Even now, the image of dogfood poltergeisting pops into my head when "Geist" is mentioned.
@@KIRKCOLLECTS i didnt even know geist was a shooter! I guess i recommend second sight by the timesplitter devs if you want sth to play around with, it did have a possession move. I used to possess guards, make them shoot at each other, then depossess. Like a dude blacks out and wakes up being shot at by his buddy and both are super confused as to why they're trying to kill each other
Welcome back to the channel! I hope everyone is doing good, staying healthy, getting whatever holiday shopping they need to do done and getting some time to play Cyberpunk. I remember having this little gem back in the day. Sadly I traded it... Pretty cool that Nintendo tried to make an M rated FPS exclusive. Shame it hasn't been ported to current consoles and pc. Wish we got more games like this now. Another style of FPS gaming pretty much abandoned now.
@KIRK COLLECTS, Nintendo has been absolutely terrible at rereleasing their classic games from N64, GameCube, and Wii. The Nintendo Switch basically has no true backwards compatibility at all unlike the Wii and Wii U. Not only would I like to see Geist remastered, I'd love to see Eternal Darkness remastered too. Nintendo literally owns these games and does nothing with them. Just more Mario, Zelda, Pokemon, and Smash. This is almost as bad as how Nintendo treats Star Fox and Metroid...
@@Gruntvc I'm a hair more optimistic, I think some of the delay is just them getting the emulation right especially since it was pretty lackluster on the wii u. The Mario collection gave me some hope in that regard. That being said it is frustrating how they sleep on a lot fo their franchises. I understand the business reasons, but my god how many years have people been demanding a re-release of the Mother games? F-Zero is another one. At least with Metroid we know we're getting Prime 4... eventually... hopefully. As for Star Fox that shit has been so mishandled lol
@KIRK COLLECTS, Must be a giant embarrassment to Nintendo, Sony, and Sega how modders got: GameCube, N64, PS2, PS1, Sega Saturn, and Sega Dreamcast games to run well on Xbox Series X/S. Ah yes Mother games. Remember when Nintendo teamed up with Robot Chicken and flipped the bird to gamers asking for those? Real nice lmao. I'm hoping Metroid Prime 4 turns out good, but it sounds like it's in development hell. Didn't they change devs and start over with the original Metroid Prime trilogy dev? Metroid Other M and Federation Force... As for Star Fox, man, did they Nintendo completely botch Star Fox Zero. Even the GameCube ones were better. Star Fox 64 is still the best one in my opinion.
@@Gruntvc Well I hope they shirk off whatever embarrassment they might have and study that closely so they can start getting their back catalogues available to their fans. For Metroid Prime, to my knowledge it was being developed in a fashion where they were having a group of developers work on it with Bandai Namco (rumored) being the lead developer and for what ever reason it wasn't working. Then Retro Studio approached Nintendo with a pitch and took over development, likely starting it from scratch. That's why its taken so long. Hopefully it'll be ready in the next year or two. Yeah Star Fox Zero was a bummer. I could maybe see them making a Deluxe version for Switch though and fixing the issues. It might depend on Platinum though who developed originally.
Love the video, never knew this game existed!! Would love to see a more modern and expansive take on the concept too, a hitman style world would lend itself to hours of experimentation and a lot of fun I reckon. yknow this reminds me of those optional side-missions on cod black ops 1, you could control the soldiers, turrets, drones, and that big tanky dog robot thingy very fun
I miss this nintendo, when they actually tried to give all genre type of mature games, they really tried with the gamecube. If nintendo was like thar today they would surely beat the competition.

Gotta admit, althrough i never played/own this game, i remember reading a walkthrough of the game on a magazine called Club Nintendo (basically, the hispanic version of Nintendo Power) and it did caught my attention as a kid, a game in which you play as a ghost and control people? That's so cool!
You left out one of the best parts, the multiplayer. I was always so jealous that I couldn't own and Xbox360 and play online, but this game had bots and I could just set up games with 5v5 or 2v2v2v2v2.
@@Gruntvc Don't think you've been looking hard enough....Doom, Doom II, Doom 64, Duke Nukem 3D, Doom 2016, Turok, Turok 2, and the newly released Doom Eternal are all on Switch. The only hole I see is maybe multiplayer......COD:Warzone specifically.
@ACE1252, I meant more exclusives like Geist on GC or The Conduit 1/2 on Wii. Those are all available on most consoles and pc. Switch is honestly the worst way to play Doom 2016. It is impressive they got it to run, but they sacrifice a lot to make it work. Switch simply can't handle well most FPS games on the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X. GameCube and even Wii could. 3rd party support was great.

Played this game for a few hours today after getting a GC a few weeks ago and I must say that it is a lot of fun. Don't know if anyone already mentioned it, but Messiah had a possession mechanic that was pretty similar.
This is legit the very first FPS I’ve ever played, still has a place in my heart. It’s a janky game, but it’s dynamics and the idea of the game is absolutely great. And let’s not forget...that good ass music
Great review. It's a real shame n-Space isn't around anymore. They developed games for a pretty long time with a huge portion of their work being portable/handheld titles (which many of them pushed their production values pretty hard). I enjoyed Geist and wouldn't mind a reboot of it (even though it will never happen). I also enjoyed n-Space's Wii version of Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2.
It's funny you mentioned the potential immersive sim angle because right before that I was thinking about how this concept but directed by Ken Levine seems like it would be amazing. Also: Since you mentioned Metroid Prime, have you ever tried out PrimeHack? It's my favorite game of all time and it's amazing how giving it mouse and keyboard support just breathes so much new life into it. It really helps you appreciate the scale of the bosses, especially in Prime 2.
The story was kinda meh, but the idea of being a ghost in a game so you play as so many ppl is just a crazy idea for GameCube standards. Man they need to make a sequel on the newer consoles using graphics like from horizon zero dawn.
I remember seeing the cover art and logo for this game and being super intrigued thinking it was some scary awesome FPS. I just got it to play on the Dolphin emulator but since I never got to play it or see any gameplay as a kid I decided to look up a review before I play it and damn it looks so damn mediocre. I don't even want to play it anymore lol sure would have enjoyed it as a kid but looks too outdated to give it a shot.
It's so sad nintendo don't put in the effort into making new games anymore, i feel like I've wasted my time with the Switch, all the best games are wii u ports I've already played :0
