Watching this, I recognised his voice and I couldn't pin down where I'd heard him talking before besides maybe a few interviews- and you're 100% right I was wrong, thinking of Mr. Brian Cox
I would absolutely love to meet these guys. First watched LOG when I was about 11 or 12 and instantly fell in love with how dark they can go and how fucking bizarre the programme was. So happy they're still writing and producing such amazing things.
I think Papa Lazerou was probably the most disturbing character in LoG...he was funny for the first few seconds but he became so dark, so quickly, that I think he simply didn't fit into the show. Granted, he could have been the central character of a psychological horror feature...but the main obstacle would always have been the blackface makeup...even though this was the least horrible part of the character
I remember having a Brownies club leader, called great owl, who was the absolute spit of Pauline; the hair, the glasses, the underlying river of repressed Saphism and anger. These characters are based on real people dialled up
Thank you so much for posting this interview. Would've liked to see Mark Gatiss attend though i think the three of them go great together. Never watched Inside No. 9 yet but can't wait to see it :)
Interestingly Benjamin Denton from the League of Gentlemen is pretty much Jeremy Dyson as Jeremy based the Denton storyline on his experiences of visiting relatives
Even their interviews are hugely entertaining... and that includes Mark's. Really think the league are easily among the most talented people of our generation.
Loved this been a huge admirer of their work since league (one of the best comedy series ever which they will never top) shame they missed out on discussing the second series of psychoville :( silent singer is one of the best things they've done
The third season was very intricately written and it was nice to see them do one long continuing story for once. Psychoville seemed in a similar vein. True, Inside No.9 isn't a very funny show but it has made me cry more than once.
I know. He's brilliant at those characters that give the impression they could turn on you at any minute. There was a family near me when I was young that Reece often reminds me of when he plays those characters. They'd be really chummy with you and it was so unsettling because you knew at any point they could turn really nasty with no provocation.
I would tend to agree but Reece's performance in 'Bernie Clifton's dressing room' absolutely blew me away. In my opinion Reece is one of the most underrated comedy actors in the UK. Absolutely phenomenal actor.
@@Laceyktm I agree Reece did a brilliant job in Bernie Clifton. Literally makes me cry every time I watch it. It's a gem of an episode anyway because the writing is so good and Steve's comedy turn it in is very skillful but yes Reece touched my heart with his performance
He didnt seem comfortable meeting people either not sure if was because their on tour snd its tiering or not but he seemed really tired and not talkative. Steve however lovely sweet guy
I guess just because he's an actor, doesn't mean he enjoys appearing publicly as himself. I get the feeling he's an overthinker so maybe he worries how he comes across?
There are definitely a lot of similarities, maybe because Mark Gatiss was a writer/script editor on little Britain? Although the league of gentlemen is the best by far!
You know how you can make yourself see double by straining your eyes? Well, at certain points in this, you can make Reece and Jeremy's faces merge so that you see Reece's face with Jeremy's hair. The result looks curiously endearing. :)
I know that Pop was a result from Steve asking Jeremy to write him a character. I don't know if Jeremy know him from somewhere though, I really hope he doesn't...
just found a link to the bit in the blackpool documentary they referenced in regards to maureen dressing up as tina tuner the lady from the guesthouse and her gravy browning here . ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-7P_bY4FN7Ok.html
@@mad-bhaktimlabhateparam2592 i cant remember posting this comment, but steve says "foursome" which sounds like force her i think? lol i was probably drunk when i made the comment anyway
Hard to single one out, but I have a soft spot for the devil of christmas because it was the episode that got me to take a second look at no.9 and realise I'd nmissed a trick. Also really like the episode with Nigel Planer where they find the hare that grants wishes.
He seems a bit uncomfortable in certain situations where he's not playing a character but is just himself - he's always fidgety and seems unsure of himself. With fan photos he always stands with his hands together or behind his back, maybe he doesn't like people invading his space! I'd be much the same. But in this he's good friends with Jeremy and Steve so I don't get that vibe
Is it just me or does Jeremy Dyson sound almost exactly like Brian Cox (the physician, not the actor)? I’m an American and my knowledge of English geography is good, but not great. So, are they both from the North? Is that why their accent sounds similar?
