So the trick to helping them grow and stay long is a good strong apex. Focus on that mainly. This is why some people can more easily grow their nails longer than others if they already have a natural curve and thickness to the apex. But using products like this where you can build it up a little bit more will help even if you don't have it naturally. A good tip to remember is that the longer they grow, the thicker the apex should be in order to sustain the length. Just make sure it doesn't go past the free edge, and don't over thicken the very tip of the nails. This can make it heavy there and cause pressure at the apex, then it could break off. Balance is key.
Yes an apex u are right so I'm learning at home just as one my hobbies and for months they would lift and pop off right after I did them some times just hours after I did them till I learned about APEX and bam now they never come off huge difference when u focus on that
@@MonsterrBunneh free edge is the part of the nail that extends past the finger tip. So you don't want to thicken the free edge with product bcuz it can't support weight and could break. When building apex (the thicker "hump" or natural curve in the middle of the nail) you don't want to go past the free edge or past the finger tip
@@itsmekiki6508 yes, whether using just nail polish, or a gel, it's good to cap the entire nail all the way to the underside so that it seals, or encapsulates, the whole nail and makes the manicure last longer. I like to use a rubber base gel on my natural nails when they get long bcuz it sort of flexes along with your nail and absorbs everyday impact to prevent breaks/cracks. I always do underneath the nail but I try not to make that too thick, especially on the very tip bcuz you don't want heavy tips. Heavy/thick tips will cause the nail to break off. Last I use a thin gel no-wipe top coat.
There's different kinds of nails. My cousin's have thick nails that they can grow this long without doing anything. I however have thin nails, thinner than a blade, which is why a simple slide of my nails on anyone's flesh can cut their skin. 😅 Thin means I can't make them grow longer than 4mm. The only time I was able to make my nails grow was when I was still pregnant, coz during pregnancy our nails gets stronger. After I gave birth, it all went away. My only option is to use press-on nails or this way, which is to use a rubber base.
Your nails don't need to breathe, they're dead. Basically, gel or normal polish add a layer of protection to your nails and keeps them from breaking more easily.
Q: once you apply the rubber base, can you use regular nail polish…wear that for a while…and then remove the nail polish with remover WITHOUT removing the rubber base?
yes, I do that all the time.. normal nail polish stays and also looks much better on products like that and a polish remover without acetone doesn't harm the base either, so you can change the color as often as you want to and the base stays where it is :)
@@Bigb00bs_umchileanywaysso only with acetone or filing it dow carefully or, letting it grow out .. but usually it would just be refilled where it's grown out
Peel off base coat would be a great option to go on top of this before applying your regular polish. That way you won't have to use acetone when you want to change shades.
wish to god I could find a nail tech in my area with a grounding in Russian techniques. gotta drive 40 minutes just to find someone who can do stilettos that aren’t lumpy, forget about all the cuticle care 😭
Russian manicures are terrible for cuticles. They get that "clean" look by basically obliterating the cuticle. You can tell by the red inflamed look that cuticles have in so many videos. Cuticles should never have an efile used on them or massive trimming with cuticle scissors. Most people just need them pushed back gently. Cuticles exist for a reason - to protect your nail bed from infection, and a Russian manicure pulls the cuticle off the nail plate and removes way too much. It's not healthy at all.
@@cosmicmuffin322 if done correctly, it will never look inflamed, you can watch actual russians do it, they do it very professionaly. And no, removing the cuticle doesn't lead to any problems. I have friends who get russian manicure done for years, never got an infection
Well, hate to burst your bubbles (no pun intended but that is funny) the last 4 months I have had over 12 ER patients with horrific cuticles that are inflamed and infected to the point that an oral antibiotic and a topical were required and every complaint charted indicated a “Russian Manicure”, now that does NOT mean it was a Russian nail tech, they could have meant “technique” vs the persons cultural background, but that was the commonality for ALL of them and they looked just like “THAT KID” in 4th grade that nibbled his cuticles until they bled, and all of these people came from ALL demographics, from Lower Middle Class to plain ‘ol Mega Rich so who they went to, to have a “Russian Manicure” is anyone’s guess but with THAT MANY infections, the Health board would be notified and then a Unit Clerk would call the patient if the RN didn’t get the name of the Salon and there you go. Sooooo, you’d know fairly quickly if you phoned your Salon and they were closed for a week or two for some obvious reasons after putting 2 and 2 together. IF it is a Health Board Violation they are shut down for, a sign would be posted on the front door and their VM must indicate as such. That rule could vary as I am not sure if it is a City rule or a Federal, etc etc. If you go to the same person definitely watch how they clean their tools or ask, Autoclave? Light? Etc. And PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT EVER LET ANYONE USE A USED BUFFER, FILE, EMORY BOARD OR ANYTHING THAT CAN BE USED ON SOMEONE ELSE!!! I will ask for mine when they are done as they MUST discard them after each use and it is MINE so why not? All they can do is say no and they I would ask why and see if they say, oh, we clean them by blue light or some ridiculous answer that is NOT good enough. Staph, Fungal infections GROSS GROSS GROSS and very hard to get rid of!!!!!
Sameee! One time the nail tech hurt my cuticle so bad that while she was applying a light pink nail polish, it kept bleeding and the red of my blood mixed with the polish so that nail was a deeper shade of pink 😰
@@cosmicmuffin322 you'd better keep quiet if you don't know and haven't seen a real russian manicure. Russian manicure is unlikely to be done outside of Russia at all, unless it is russian masters, because only we teach the right techniques. I have been doing manicure for six years and none of my clients HAVE EVER had any problems with their nails. except for girls who came from vacations or business trips from other countries. because they had to redo their manicures there and the nails they came with were in such a terrible state that I wanted to cry looking at them.
Those asking if nails need to breath.. that's really the wrong term to use. The nail is porous. The nail bed/skin beneath the nail emits moisture through the nail. If the nail is covered with gel, acrylic, or press ons, that moisture can't escape and water logs the natural nail. Making them soft and weak, like any other time your nails are kept in water. So give them a couple weeks in between manis to soak them in oil like jojoba and castor oil daily to keep nails and cuticles healthy.
That's what I do to keep my French manicure on, 3-6 t gel topcoats ! A really thick topcoat stops the dents and nicks chipping your polish! A good basecoat is Arte Clavo, a really cheap Ebay gel polish. And good topcoat is Collection 2000 Solar, its good on bendy nails and cheap! Now I'm after Essie or a good grippy basecoat! Nail industry all a con! UK 🇬🇧 27.11.23
No that’s a well filed nail tip you can literally see where your natural nails end. What’s she’s doing does work though that’s how I grow out my nails as well. If you want her look use a natural coloured nail tip and file away once you put the base coat it will be transparent.
I do my mother's nails. She uses so many different skincare products... In order to get anything to stick to her nails, she has to soak them in acetone for a minute before I can apply the primer. It's just crazy
Using acetone to dehydrate her nails is a perfectly fine option. It just means she has oily nail beds and needs something to remove the oil so the gel or polish sticks to the nails.
I would like to try this. I’m a nail biter and I’ve been working on quoting the habit ( very hard ) and because of years of damage and not proper growth, my nails are weak and bend. I just want to be able to get them to grow and to maintain them.
I have been attempting this but my rubber base gel lifts and peels off at the bottom edge. I actively try to ‘seal’ the edges, but it still liftsAny tips?
I treated myself to CND SHELLAC TOPCOAT AND BASECOAT and my nails chipped, aagh! Might be the cheapo Wet n Wild White creme nail polish I used, it's a awful crumbly nail polish! Nice shine! I'm trying to strengthen my nails so they can grow long! Used Essie Here Stay basecoat but it chips and shrinks! Good tip is thin thin layers, thin down thick polish, less bulk is less lifting! Works for me! Also apply 3-4 thin layers of topcoat and use nail Drying drops! I use Maybelline nail dry drops work fast! UK 🇬🇧
Im low-key triggered by such large nails beds talking about how easy it was to grow out their nails. My nail beds are so small, my nails are thin and brittle, and always, always break. I have to have acrylics. Otherwise I'm getting way over stimulated by my thin nails bending and cracks getting caught of my hair or clothes.
Mine have gotten twice as long with just basic nail polish to the point the salon was asking what i did to grow them the 1 time i did go for a painted design😂 So guys You dont NEED gel polish to grow them long. (Obv) Just keep your nails safe. 2,3 coats of colour obv to get the color even. And 2 coats of a nice strong top coat. Keeping up with filing off any damaged/cracking nails before they get worse. Thats all i did anyways. Im also vegetarian so im not sure if that had to do with it lol
Any tips to heal your nails. I’ve had dip for several years and my nails have never had an issue until now after getting them done by someone new. It’s been about 4 months and they are still red and hurt a lot around my cuticle and the nail fold wear your nail grows from but my natural nail is too thin not to have something strong or it will break off. Any tips to get them To stop hurting would be amazing ❤️
What do you recommend for a nail that constantly brakes straight down the middle? (There’s one in particular that has a line/ridge that seems to go down to my cuticle. It was slammed in two different doors in childhood sadly by people I know.) and they can be brittle at times; so I’m sure my diet /water intake and all that can only help so much
How does the rubber base grow the natural nail please? Is the rubber base gel and if so, what kind? As I need a rubber base gel coat to use with my LED UV lamp 🔦 at home! Thank you 😊
it helps with normal growth by making the nail stronger and protecting it.. also a rubber base compared to some other products is kind of flexible, the natural nail will always bend sometimes just because of normal use of your hands and any product that isn't flexible wouldn't stay that well, in my experience
@@Cara84de Okay, cool thank you :) And also is the rubber base before the gel base coat and gel top coat? Does it need curing under the lamp for a certain amount of time before applying gel or does it dry quickly on its own? Thank youuuuu 🥰
@@OrlaAfikiruweh yes, everything needs to cure under uv or led light.. some people do a base coat underneath, some don't.. the order would be (after cuticle care) cleanser, primer, (base coat), rubber base.. if it has a sticky layer you can apply color onto it or directly topcoat if no color is wanted.
📍📍@@Cara84de Okay awesome! :) My nails on my left hand, (I'm left handed ✋) esp my thumb grow long and then split off the entire down the right hand side, so I lose a corner off my nail basically ☹ Everytime I finally manage to grow it out, without it snapping off 😭😭 I will buy this and give this a go! Hopefully using this alongside my Venalisa gel kit with my LED lamp will help my nail growth alot more! Thank you for your help, much appreciated 🙏🥰
So does the rubber base, in a way, help shape the natural nail? Like my nails grow down when they hit a certain length. Would rubber gel help with that? I dont see how the gel wouldnt just curve down with my natural nail. But I feel like I heard in a previous video of yours that your nails to grow down also but yours look beautiful here. I’m so curious!
Would you be able to do a video on how to prevent lifting at the free edge with the structure rubber base. It’s my first time trying your technique which I love but on only a few of my nails the free edge started to lift from the nail bed. What do I do? 😅😢
judging by the description, you have started onycholysis..look at the pictures on the Internet, tell me, does it look like what you have? if yes, then somewhere in the manicure process you made a mistake. perhaps they burned the nail the nail plate or treated it too much with a file. In this case, it is worth removing the coating completely and waiting for a healthy bed to grow. there is another way, of course, but as far as I know, there are no qualified craftsmen anywhere except the CIS countries who can fix this problem.
Can you grow your natural nail while wearing press on’s? I dIY my nails and I wanna start growing them longer and healthier but I also want to add extensions sometimes. I use poly gel or sometimes I just stick the full nail on using a base coat and go .
@@veronicas8270 You don’t need primer for gel. It adds liquid to the nail for acrylic to adhere to better as it cures itself. ANY type of moisture will cause ANY gel to lifer faster than it should.
okay wait I saw you say you leave a bit of product after filing but also soaking everything off. Do I have to soak my manicure off erveytime I wanna change it with a rubber base or can I just file it off?
My clients have been experiencing lifting with rubber base when I use the same technique here assuming you don’t need a base coat of anything since the rubber base coat is technically the base , what dehydrator and primer do you recommend and should I use a bonder too or no..?
This is not really your natural nails then . With any gel manicure you do the same steps and your natural nails still grow underneath just the same, the only difference is that you didn’t apply the colour . It’s just transparent in your case lol
@@darling1045 but shes wearing extensions. You can see where her natural nails end and the extensions go longer. And at the end you can see her natual nail is short and brittle underneath.
It’s depends, because people can have allergic reaction to anything. I mean one of my friends get reaction, other people not. It’s not salon problem it’s personal reaction
Their is a line going across the middle of the nail, is that a normal thing that happens? Only asking because my nails have the same line in the middle and i don't know what causes that.
Its her natural nail. She is wearing extensions and shes lying saying they're her natural nails. Look at the end of the clip when she shows her nail underneath, you can literally see her natural nail is short and brittle.
U lucky to have nails rite to the top, the free edge is already long, ie bitten nails sumtines have a lot of skin to cover the glue sticks to skin under nail tip form natrual nail
My nails just don't grow... they get a little and I mean like tiny bit long then break or split I've tried builder gels but no luck.... which is why I fuking love doing my nails with my big nail kit! 💅 ❤
Zoya Armor Topcoat 😍 is good, but it chips and peels too easily, very disappointed! I'm after Glisten & Glow topcoat or Vibrant Vinyls topcoat or Dazzle Dry. Tired of my varnish looking smudgy and chipped! Using nail stickers was okay, but even gel stickers peeled off! UK 🇬🇧 15.7 24
It always looks so easy but it feels like my inhype rubber base is so thick in comparison. It doesn’t self level as much as I want it and it kind of frustrates me bc i can see minor imperfections in the leveling. Are there any tips to this. I turn my hand upside for a long time but it does not perfectly level out.
If looks like you don't have to use as much product as you would if it was builder gel in a bottle, is this true? With the BGIAB I need to make it thick bc my nails bend too easily.
Are we just going to ignore the fact she said these are her natural nails even tho you can clearly see that she has extensions on? Lol you can see the line where her natural nails end and the extensions are longer. Plus you can see underneath at the end where her nails are short and look pretty brittle. I'm not sure why she is lying and making people in the comments belive that these are her natural Long nails and all she does is add gel ontop lol
I can see why you think that, but as someone will long natural nails too I can confirm what you’re seeing is actually excess skin growth under the nail. I guess it happens as that area of skin gets less contact the longer your nails are over time and it grows out a bit more, I forgot the exact name for that skin area (can also be very sensitive if you then cut your nails off very short). Her nails are also naturally more on the clear side so you can see it from underneath a bit more 😊
