This was incredibly bizarre to watch 3 years later. The content was top notch as ALWAYS, but it immediately brought back the memories of dealing with the unknown and the sense of isolation. I guess I'm dealing with some PTSD from our lockdowns - I could feel the fear mounting during the opening. But it was worth it to watch you create those incredible prints using what you had on hand. I'm so glad that we're now experiencing your adventures with Barb and all the new ideas you're sharing. Continue to be well!!! ♥♥♥
Hi Elizabeth. I only discovered Gelli printing this year, and am happily browsing through lots of old videos for info & advice. Loved these stencil prints. Your words at the beginning of the film took me right back to those weird Covid days when the UK was first in lockdown and there was no cure, proven treatment or vaccine yet. Everything was strange and unsettling, an odd mix of loneliness and camaraderie among people. My sanctuary was my garden, and we were blessed with warm sunny days that summer. Anyway, thanks for all your videos. I've watched so many in the last few weeks! My printing techniques are gradually improving. Hope you're well. Valerie
Thanks for taking the time to write such an encouraging note Valerie! I’m really glad that you found my channel. Those were strange days indeed, I began filming more then, creating my Patreon page as well.
Hello Elizabeth: I am just watching this in July, somehow I missed it when you first put this out in MARCH and I usually watch every one of your videos even more than once. This one really hit home for me as I am feeling so depressed (at times) about my lack of motivation to create art. Its more of a general sadness that I feel and so much indecision going on in the world in general I almost feel why bother? I know that stress has never stopped me in the past but this feels worse. That said however, I'm SO grateful for people like you and some others who ARE still creating and making these short videos to encourage others to just PLAY and have the feeling of energizing our minds and hearts with COLOR. Color is such a healing thing.....and the good thing is that each little step leads to another and hopefully can get us back to the easel even if we are the only ones who can see it. Thank you so much for being there and I hope your summer will be successful. I loved watching your daily videos of the workshop in N. Carolina (or was it South?)...and happy belated birthday!
Somehow it's hard to be motivated these days, even for me. Don't feel bad. BUT if you just give yourself permission to PLAY without and agenda, you might find you are happy to move paint around. OH NC was so fun, we did have a good time. I will have more online workshops, I hope that is helpful... in person classes are cancelling for a ways out!
Thanks Elizabeth. Yep, definitely feeling it. Fires, floods and now Corona virus. Grateful to all the creatives trying to bring a little relief to everyone (-: Marion. Ps I just ordered your Fabulous Florals book & can't wait for it to get here
A little creative relief is good! I love just making papers on my Gel Plate and so I thought I'd share the love. I am very grateful for your purchase of the book! Than you Marion
I love the large spectrum of possibilities you can create with a limited color palette and just one stencil ! Thank you Elizabeth for keeping up with your videos, stay well 😍
Thanks Elizabeth, I look forward to your videos. Now, I'm especially appreciating this extra, welcome goodness into uncertain times. Thanks again. Look after yourself.
Loved your thoughtful words about using this time to just relax and enjoy some art therapy....appreciate all you do to make my world more creative and art-filled. You’ve inspired me!
you are so welcome, I totally agree that we need to make art and play with new techniques to pass the time and give our emotions a rest. I am so GLAD to have inspired you Lynn, that means the world to me. I appreciate YOU!
Thank you.....your tutorials are excellent. Enjoyed your class at MISA......YOU Are an amazing teacher......I had never used paint before and you were the best at helping me succeed in class.
Hi Elizabeth, I stumbled over your gelli plate video this morning and wanted to tell you what a nice thoughtful demonstration it was during our shut down. An activity for everyone! And you are right that it has been hard to get motivated to paint during this time. I’m going to check out your website to see if you have your paintings on there. I’m always interested in seeing other artists work. Thanks, Ellyn
I sure do have my paintings on my website! Thanks for stopping by and I hope that you’ll stick around :-) if you want to receive my videos every week as a blog post in your inbox, subscribe to my mailing list: eepurl.com/KkA-L
So it is a few months after you made this video and we are apparently headed back to raging Covid. I found your video and decided to order a gel plate to play around with while I am working at home and sheltering in place. Your comments about creative energy being blocked due to outside events was SO spot on! I am a professional photographer and I also do leather work and polymer clay and right now NOTHING works. I came across your video and your energy is so positive and so freeing. The fact that you used a physics textbook for doing the prints made me laugh out loud! Thanks for posting and will subscribe!
Hi Elizabeth! I originally found your BEAUTIFUL artwork on pinterest and was delighted to find that you have a channel here 😊 It's also exciting to see you have a line of stencils!! Thank you SO much for sharing your talents and adding some light to these challenging days 💕
You are so very welcome and WELCOME to the party!!! I also have a line of Rubber Stamps with a small, family owned company that could use the support: rubbermoon.com/collections/stamps-by-elizabeth-st-hilaire
Loved that demo Elizabeth - thank you 🙏 I was a little worried at first because I thought a fly had dropped into you tea/coffee but later realised it was a tea/coffee bag 🙄😂
Thank you so much Elizabeth, I really really love ❤️ this video and I really really love ❤️ and enjoyed watching you create them too. Please stay safe and well too xxx Mags
Hi Elizabeth, I enjoyed your video and I like messing about with the gel plate I have. Out of curiosity what do you do with the prints? I have made a few cards but really don't know what else to do with them.
Hi, I am a collage artist. Please check out my portfolio at paperpaintings.com. I tear up the gel prints and create impressionistic, collage paintings! I have a Patreon page where I can show you how to do this :-) or I teach in person and online workshops of the collage process.
unfortunately not Christine due to the VAT tax and customs. you can use a freight forwarder however, here is a link to the info on that: bit.ly/36AqC7d
I've NEVER heard such a thing! NO I never do that. it's just on my desk out in the garage studio with NO issues. In FL cockroaches LOVE all paper, so there I put my paper in plastic bins, you could consider that... if you have a moth issue! :)
@@ElizabethStHilaire THANKS!!~~I did think it was kinda weird - so I truly appreciate your response. If that paper does well in Florida's climate...nuff said!!!!!:-)s
@@ElizabethStHilaire yes i finale found them. you do GREAT stuff. Any in the size smaller for a smaller gelli plate? I usually use 5x7 so I can make them into greeting cards.
thankyou so much for this! I am completely new to gel plates, also English, so I don't understand some of your words- are you saying 'brayer' or 'Braer'? we call it a roller
