One of my gelish colours really badly keeps shrinking . I have some everything as per yr video . Could it be I need to do very very thin layers (thinner than usual)
@nailnovice8781
@nailnovice8781 5 лет назад
Has it been sitting on the shelf unused? The ingredients inside start to separate and need a roll around every now and then. I always roll all my colours every few weeks and give a gently roll or stir right after the client chooses their colour and allow it to settle again while I continue the service. Also, 2-3 thin layers. The first layer should be quite sheer. Shrinking can also be your foundation layer is too thick or you didn't cap the edge properly or you didn't dry brush. Hope this helps :)

Hi ! Very useful video but I have a few questions if you dont mind. Is the dry brush actually completely dry or does it have alcohol on ? Also , can you use the gellish foundation , modelones colour and then the gellish top coat ?
@nailnovice8781
@nailnovice8781 4 года назад
Hi! The dry brush is, dry! Certainly no alcohol as you want to keep the tacky layer, just simply remove the excess of it. And yes, gelish does advertise that their base and top are suitable to use with other colour ranges but you will have to ensure correct cure times and suitable lamps for each range is used :)

Can you use a Gelish PH Bond as a base coat with regular nail polish? Or apply a peel-off base on top of it?
@nailnovice8781
@nailnovice8781 5 лет назад
Hi Leksi, you would still need a proper polish base coat after ph Bond before applying colour. Have not tried with peel-off base as this is not something Gelish carry in their range.

@nailnovice8781
@nailnovice8781 5 лет назад
Hi Stace, I just use a cheap, synthetic brush that I like the shape of. It's wiped with alcohol after each client to remove the tacky layer residue, which is drying for bristles so I'm happy with a cheapie that i can easily replace every few months :) You can also use a gel brush though!

@nailnovice8781

Gelish cures at 395nm (much higher than other brands) So you require a lamp that cures at that wavelength or within a range that includes that.

Hi Samanta, if it's peeling, then it either hasn't cured properly or, your nail surface was not prepped correctly.

some videos I watch they use the pro bond after the ph bond and before the foundation layer.. how come some people do and some people don't.. does it make the nails last longer? also what are you using to clean the nails?
@nailnovice8781
@nailnovice8781 4 года назад
Pro Bond is a primer and is typically only used for extension services such as acrylic where higher adhesion is required. If you apply pro bond before gel polish, it may help it to last longer BUT, the soak off will take waaaaay longer and be more difficult. It is unnecessary for a gel polish service. If anything, ONLY at the free edge for trouble chippers. I am cleansing with 99% Isopropyl alcohol (or use your polish brands cleanser)

Hi Yoon. Acetone can leave behind a film that inhibits adhesion. While some brands instruct you to use acetone, Gelish doesn't. But yes, isopropyl can be used instead of ph bond.

Thanks for your video! I have a gel moment 6 watt led lamp, and I thought I could use it for my gelish polishes, but I'm worried it isn't strong enough, even if I leave my nails under it for longer. I tried leaving them under for two minutes and they didn't dry, but that was before watching this video, so I know I was doing some other things wrong as well. Do you think it can work?
@nailnovice8781
@nailnovice8781 4 года назад
Hi Dana, it's really important that you know and understand that not all lamps will cure all gels. Different brands of gel polish cure at different light spectrums. You MUST have a lamp that matches the spectrum that your polish requires to cure. This is why each brand, has their own lamp, that has been scientifically designed to cure THAT polish. Gel polish also LOOKS cured when only 50% cured. So you may THINK your polish is curing in your cheap lamp, but really it is under cured and could lead to overexposure and dermatitis. A 6W lamp will not cure much at all.... You really must look into the Gelish lamp if using Gelish.

@tomandme3698
@tomandme3698 2 года назад
May be it's the stickyness on the surface only, and you think it isn't dry... make thin layers and try out a longer time. And never wipe off this sticky part between the layers. Good luck 💅

I get a sticky residue when I’m done? What is that and how do I get rid of it
@nailnovice8781
@nailnovice8781 3 года назад
Hi, yes some brands, like Relish, have a sticky residue, even after curing the top coat. Gelish requires you to remove the tacky layer after curing your top coat. Use either the Relish cleanser, or isopropyl alcohol :)

Are all led lights the same? I have a small one and was wondering if it works the same as a bigger led lamp
@nailnovice8781
@nailnovice8781 4 года назад
Hi Jennifer, im so glad you asked and double checked, because NO. not all lamps are the same. And not all lamps will cure all products. Different brands and ranges cure at specific light spectrums amd if your lamp is not correct for the particular range you are using, you can under cure it. Whilst it will LOOK cured, it may actually not be. Which is exposing you or clients to uncured prouduct and could cause irritation, allergies and dermatitis! Do your research! Or but the recommended lamp from your range.
