Right? I have the non pro Pixel 9 and am loving it, but yeah just gonna try the free month and see how I go after that. The translation thing might be handy when I'm in Europe in December though. At least give the non pro guys a free year like with the pro!
"What's the time now in XY?" - "It's 1pm" - "No it's not 1pm" - "You are totally right, it's 4am" - "It's not 4am" - "I'm sorry for my mistake, it's actually 2pm" - "No it's not 2pm" - "You are right, it's 6am" - "No it's not 6am, can't you just google that shit and tell me the result" - "It's 8am" - "That's wrong again" - "I'm sorry for my previous mistakes, it's 1pm" - "We already established it's not 1pm" .... My Google Gemini experience.
@@jeevan88888 I guess it was to say that two different things that has nothing to do with with each other, are different. 🤪😂 He or she is like : " John talked about physics with Albert (the Einstein one)" and tells a bit about the conversation they had, and He or She replied, "I talked with Albert (The Trump supporter one), and He thought that the earth was flat. This is the experience I had with Albert". I think that it's better to see nothing more than an entertaining point in this comment and nothing more serious.
@@jeevan88888 my point is, that besides being able to provide truly impressive results, LLM models (and in my experience especially Gemini) often fail at really basic tasks and provide you with absolutely bogus (but convincingly worded) results/information, which users often don't even notice, if the query is more complex. Yet many people testing and reviewing them, are also propagating how "smart" they are - not focusing on the fact that, as of now, they are fun to play around with or get a quick research head start, but in reality being a really bad source of anything related to information. And I wanted to poke fun at Google - considering the current state of their new Assistant in 2024 "slightly" differs from what they teased at Google IO 2018, 6 years ago.
Most of call center are just so bad... That it would be surprising that they can give such a performance on Gemini use. Actually Gemini should replace them all, they had their chance and wasted it.
My first conversation with Gemini was about Van Gogh and whether he committed suicide or was shot by town bullies. It was strange but hopeful that people will learn to have a thoughtful conversation again thru ai. I'm going to keep using it.
Actually, Gemini can speak more than 2 languages at the same time. Just ask it to speak other language! More cool thing is that base on the English voice you choose, the other languages' voice will be different too And you can ask it to speak more natural and fast in the other language, it will change the speaking style more human friendly but in the same voice 😂😂 So awesome ❤!!
I have the Google One Subscription for 5TB of storage and it comes with Gemini Advanced. It meant I was able to get Gemini Live and even had it working on a cheap £100 phone.
I'm not sure why I have Gemini Live but I do! I do have a Google One subscription for 2TB storage (£8) but don't have the Advanced/Premium sub (£19) but Gemini Live just showed up on my aging Pixel 6.
What I'm looking for with a conversational Ai is using it for writing. I use OpenAi sometimes to consolidate my ramblings or charechter sheets. But its annoying doing it in text. Would be nice being able to just ramble outloud. I could be multitasking better that way.
In my case it would be much more fun watching the real soccer game, with real people in beautiful atmosphere, with real emotional fans and their loud singing while having some beer to get drunk. Real feelings, real live emotions, real human experience. The real deal. I know this AI thing is the present snd future but i even did not use the google assistant. But if you all need this "gamechangers" or have fun with all this "helpful" and "fun" AI stuff everyone should feel free to use it. I won't look down on you AI futuristic Gemini users. 🎉❤
@a1000island research what all AI can do now..... AI will advance immensely in time. Operating an app will be low on the list of what all AI is capable of. And scammers and hackers can use AI as well.
That's amazing I can't even think of one single that I would ever need Gemini for. I actually have it right now on Evolution x ROM and I can't think of anything to use it for.
Are you recording this video in the UK, with UK setup devices? I'm in the UK, and while I have Gemini Live, there is no such option to change the voices that I can find
can't find the option to change the voice, it would be nice if you could show that. Also today is 20-Aug-2024 and I asked Gemini about the next F1 race - and it siad today in April 2023 there are no Grand Prix races. So I corrected it and told it there was a race. Then I asked it about the state of the season, and it got it wrong again and said as of August 2024 the season hasn't kicked off yet. I asked about the drivers points and it got these wrong as well. So it got all three questions totally wrong - so unless its still learning or doesn't have access to the F1 or Wiki data. I also took a photo of my watch and asked it could read the time from the picture, I'm at 8:15pm and it answered that it was 09:45 but it wasn't sure. Its got a bit to go yet.
I asked Gemini how long it would take to drive from my home to Houston, It said 18 hours. I asked it when I should leave to get there at 8:00 PM. It told me I should leave at 11:48 AM the same day. I questioned it. It stuck with the wrong answer. I questioned it again. It changed its answer to 11:48 AM the previous day. (32 hours). I explained to it that 18 hours before 8:00 PM is not 11:48 AM the previous day. It apologized and told me that it should have said 11:48 the same day. I told it that 18 hours before 8:00 PM is not 11:48 AM. It finally told me that I should leave around 2:00 AM the same day. If this is how AI works, we are all screwed.
That's an interesting feature but it seems like you can only access Gemini Live through the Gemini assistant not the Google assistant plus there are other countries that use dollars as well so would it always default to USD or would it know other currencies as well like for example AUD which also used dollars or not since if it only knows USD then it will be a pain to get the answer in AUD instead for a gift idea so besides that I'll try out this feature at a later date even if it looks interesting.
@@BenjaminGrimley in France I just have one female voice, and one male. I don't know if we have a special voices for Gemini advanced because I didn't take the subscription. It is supposed to be one year free but when I go on it it says only 1 month so it's weird. By default, the voice of the assistant is used by Gemini. I put the male one
@@manu_ovg of course we now have everything, including Gemini live, but my message was from way before, and everything has been activated just few days ago.
Can you have it translate another persons speech for you and vise versa? This would be amazing for travel and using it to translate in real time for you.
No. I can't do that. It can't do a lot of things. It is not in any way a competitor to ChatGPT Advanced voice. So many people are trying to make out like it's amazing when it's truly horrible.
I see Gemini Live carries on my disappointment with going to Gemini from the Assistant. If GL can't make a phone call (yet, I'm assuming this is coming), why not automatically route the call request to Gemini?
It's a little bit rough at the edges. E.g. interruption and latency. Not severe. But noticeable. The question is, is there enough "value" there, that it introduces a whole new AI interface category. Not looking for a "Her". Just what Alexa, Siri, Assistant, should've been in the first place. AI hardware (e.g. Humane Pin, Rabbit) has thus been a disappointment. But I hope this introduces a new category, that can take off. (Also, probably the same for Apple.). The smartphone is probably it. (Ear buds is an interesting idea, esp. given that Live doesn't use much of a screen.)
An AI that doesn't mind interruptions will train everyone to be rude. I wish its rules included not putting up with abusive or rude interactions. Even just a gentle reminder "Hey, be nice!"
Not all interruptions are rude. It's not black and white like that. It's better to accept a certain level of interruption as just effective communication. Like any tool it can be abused.
Any idea how I change the voice I'm really irritated because I've already seen multiple RU-vid videos with quite a few voices but nobody tells you how to access the voice menu mine literally claims it only has one voice and there's no such thing as multiple voices for the program
To activate Gemini on Pixel 8, navigate to Settings > System > Developer options > AICore Settings. If you have the toggle available on your phone, it should appear as an option in the list that reads Enable on-device Gemini features.
The fact that you need to have *another* subscription to access this feature just sucks... Like I mean.. Google you're sitting on such huge pile of dosh.. why fleece us??? Also a lot of the times it just gives wrong answers to math problems
All are in the same league of pricing - ChatGPT, Copilot and Gemini while each one of them are different from each other. Right now all these AIs are in their childhood...no way I am paying a penny
Because Gemini and Gemini Live are going to replace Google Assistant soon.. Google Assistant and Bixby are very basic assistants. Apart from telling a bit of information and doing some basic stuff they can't do shit. So Gemini is basically going to be like ChatGPT with Google Assistant built into it
@@shelbycat03 no your data is not as valuable as you think and no none of these apps spy on you. It’s just a myth that we like to believe in answering your other question Bixby is almost useless. Google Assistant cannot do much. It’s not even a language model it’s just a bunch of pre-written responses, combined with basics of their functionality, siri is even worse than Google Assistant, Gemini, live on the other hand, has the capability to understand natural human language, and respond in the natural human language
I had gemini on my phone and typed in "turn on fan". It said i needed to say it with my voice. I wasn't in a position to do that. In the end i uninstalled it and went back to google assistant.
I asked gemini (web version) to give me some 4 character hexspeak words. It gave me absolute garbage answers. I told it that it was wrong and it tried again but it was still garbage. Example 'FOOD ... sounds like food' which should have been 'F00D sounds like food'. The word should have zeros to be hex.
How hard can it be to combine with a second AI system on the ohone to deal with calendar, email, texting, notes and so on? I think that is what Apple are going to do. It is impressive though.
The part about all of these AI chatbots that no one talks about and especially Gemini is that they hallucinate and make up crap responses and nobody fact checks them. If there is information that you ask it that is not in its training data then they hallucinate and just make up stuff. This might be acceptable when you're talking about hobby stuff with AI models like Gemini but if you're doing any kind of cooking or anything of importance it will straight up lie to you. I tried it for some very simple recipes like chicken salad and it was completely horrible. If you're using it for anything important make sure you fact check it. I've found Gemini to be worse than most other AI models. It can't even generate images of people right now. I think Google is trying to play catch up and they're just rushing their models out the door before they're tested or ready for production.
Your opinion has some truth to it, but try to be unbiased. Yes they hallucinate, but that's why most models allow you to provide feedback. Give those sessions a negative response so it can learn. It's also worth noting that these hallucinations aren't as frequent as your anecdote suggests. The response is only as good as the prompt. If you don't give it a good prompt, don't expect a perfect answer.
@@Max86421 google has said that assistant will eventually die while gemini standard (not live) will eventually replace assistant on phones and nest devices
Gemini is replacing this, you can choose this already. For certain functional Gemini will enact Assistant to do these things. It seems to work for most verbally but I've found it doesn't so much if you type into gemini, but maybe it's bow I'm doing it
I still love Google Assistant. I used an iphone for a year, it was unbearable. And one of the reasons is Siri. Google Assistant is so much better. And its so much faster than Gemini, so I still use it a lot
