The Mookambika temple is noted for its architectural beauty and spiritual significance. Besides its cultural significance, the temple is also considered to be the site of a penance performance by Adi Shankaracharya, the great philosopher. Moreover, it is recognized as one of the seven mukti stalas in the region. Overall, Mookambika is a reverse goddess in Hindu mythology and a symbol of blessing.
Kodachadri or Kudajadri peak is situated in Shimoga district in Karnataka about 115 kilometers from Shimoga and 36 kilometers from Hosanagara. Kudajadri is at a distance of 315 km from Bangalore & at a distance of 147 km from Mangalore. The king cobra, python, tiger, leopard, Indian gaur and a variety of birds, including the Malabar pied hornbill, inhabit these forest.
Murudeshwar is home to the second tallest statue of Lord Shiva (123 ft) in the world.
