Bwipo definitely threw this game by leaving top lane and hitting the scryer's bloom. Up until that point, GenG had no idea that they were doing baron. If he had stayed in lane, GenG would not have expected the 2-man baron take, and even if they had, Kiin wouldn't have been able to place the ward in the pit which allowed Chovy to TP in. That was the most free baron ever if Bwipo just stayed in lane to keep Kiin busy. If you watch the minimap leading up to that fight, you'll see that Canyon, Chovy, and Lehends are busy not even looking that direction, and Peyz had started to move toward midlane, but then started heading back toward dragon because of the 2v2 fight in the river near dragon. Quad and Busio would have kept all four of those guys down there, Bwipo could have kept Kiin in top, and FLY could have taken the baron for free. Even if Peyz decided to go back toward mid and not toward dragon, he can't facecheck baron.
@@ivmen98 don't agree tbh. I just think quad wasn't comfortable on yone as a he hasn't played it much, you can completely shit on smolder all the way from lvl 3 to pre 225 stacks on him, he should not have let chovy farm stacks like that, I guess he just had too much respect and didn' want to risk losing early in the 1v1
Games already lost at that point - even if they got the baron I still feel they only had a minor chance of winning, they were really behind and the game was way too slowly played for a fiddlesticks. The mid laner had 0 impact on Yone, and they could never get a fight or tempo because of this. Fiddlesticks misplayed his spell book swap and was holding ignite instead of smite for 14 minutes (terrible rookie spellbook swap mistake to make for a jungler.) Even less tempo all game because of this, extra slow jungle clear for 14 minutes because of no access to smite. these 2 things definitively lost the game.
dont talk nonsence, people have to make their dreams come true, geng almost got their asses kicked in the last game, i bet they were sh*ting themselves
People are probably thinking the sett pick or the fiddle pick were bad, but to me, the real problems of the draft were the blind pick kalista and the last pick Alistar. Locking in Kalista blind against smolder when your mid is already locked in leaves you no room left to answer smolder’s scaling unless bwipo takes yone and quad picks another hyper scaling champion (like Asol or anivia to neutralise both smoulder and Skarner). But then this means flyquest have little room left in the draft to build a strong enough frontline for Kalista, which also further screwed them over. You can argue that the Kalista pick was meant to dominate early so that smolder had no time to scale, but the yone matchup makes it too easy for him not to scale anyways. Blind picking the kalista also meant peyz got to neutralise it with ziggs, making the pick completely useless for the whole game as well. If kalista was meant to be the answer to smolder, then it immediately got blown up in their faces once ziggs was locked in. Alistar also doesn’t do anything for their comp. Gen g has no divers for busio to protect flyquests’ carries from, and they shouldn’t be relying on Kalista R to engage/follow-up when they have a fiddlesticks anyways. A Leona would’ve been more valuable here, or even a rakan if they didn’t ban it themselves, as they have higher pick potential and have access on to smolder and ziggs. Alistar reaches no one and was such a low impact last pick. Flyquest tunnelled too hard on picking team fight champions and failed to consider the fatal gaps it opened in their drafting. :(
Yeah, it is actually int. If you wanna use the fact you can duo baron dont lead the enemy into it. At least dont hit that orb so GenG thinks you are just looking to tp on drake
@@thatgermanview5721 yeah its true, or bwipo who tp for the last TF far way on top of the fight andd way to far , but big respesct for them , very great fial, but i think bwipo maybe been better in another roosster.. maybe
they had so much time to run away after it too. they literally know they are playing vs ziggs and rumble. you baited out the ult just back off. its so insane how much the west looooves the throw at baron
Can't wait to see how the salty EU fanboys explain away this one. Not only did NA make quarters and EU didn't but NA also took GenG, a tournament favorite to win, to game 5 and the series was close.
@@YuYuYuna_ I think that the new revrelations about how top teams worked behind the scenes for the last 3+ years left EU fans pretty grim for the future. Plenty of good players were/are wasted because of the ridiculous management of said teams and EU teams only want to invest in younger talents now to cut costs. There are plenty of veterans that made Worlds and have the motivbation that are teamless because of budget and some of them were so disgusted by how they were treated that they left the LEC and in oder to thrive elsewhere. Most players in Europe are only here for a bag of money, few actually aims for the top because " G2 will win anyway" and/or " we don't have the budget to secure players to reach and win Worlds". The new format WINTER-SPRING-SUMMER + the franchise thingy ruined EU and i don't see the situation improving anytime soon. Having the pressure to lock a team before winter just added unneeded pressure to either " assemble the best team" or to "cut cost" and rush tryout phases that would be beneficial to the players in order to find out who is compatible with who.
As a G2 fan, I'm def happy to saw NA putting such a strong performance (and agree with FlyQuest > G2 or NA>EU if u want). In general, I'm on the side of any western teams (esp when it comes to defeat textbook gameplay GenG lol)
@@YuYuYuna_ hmmm not even an EU fanboy, but in swissG2 faced FOUR LPL/LCK teams, THREE of which are in top 4 right now, won vs Weibo, got close with BLG. FlyQuest got GAM and PSG and TL and lost the only 2 games vs actual teams 😂😂😂 stop embarrasing urself
Gen G didn't have vision so Bwipo hitting it wouldnt show up on their minimap. We just see it because we're watching via Spectator Mode. It's actually Inspired hitting the vision plant that tags the control ward that gives them info.
@@Lookitsluk Im pretty sure you always see vision plants on the minimap. It is common knowledge they give away your position, unless I am missremembering hard.
While reading the comments, I’ve come to the conclusion that the vast majority of NA players are not the smartest ones. First of all, FlyQuest is NA only on paper: 1 Korean, 2 Europeans, and 2 North Americans. Second, the Baron sneak play was actually pretty good. It was Bwipo who gave away the information, while it would have been much better if he had waited in the bush near red or close to the blast cone. If he had just destroyed the blast cone, it would have made a huge difference. They needed 10 more seconds at most to finish the Baron, and the only way they could have lost it was if Kiin got there in time. He had everything he needed (even a ward so Chovy could TP). Even if he hadn’t hit the Bloom, Peyz had already ulted because Bwipo had hit the Bloom earlier, it only helped for giving full vision. But if Bwipo had been there to prevent Kiin from getting near the Baron (he could have ulted him away, or as I said, just destroyed the blast cone), Kiin would have had to flash into the pit, making it harder for him to close the gap. We won’t even talk about Kalista hitting the blast cone after flashing. I was watching him play Kalista, and that champion is definitely not his best. He should have played Kai’Sa, as he has shown that he’s good with her. I’m not sure why FlyQuest didn’t try using two carries again, as they won with that playstyle to make it 2:1, and then they proceeded to let Gen.G play it. This last game was what I personally hoped for. If you can’t beat them with meta picks, surprise them with pocket picks. And they actually did pretty well until that Baron play. It’s sad that we didn’t see more because the Koreans definitely felt the pressure. If FlyQuest had been a little more patient, things could have gone the other way-or at least not ended like this-because we didn’t see much due to that Baron play. It was Chemtech drake so Blast Cone was crucial in that fight and Bwipo really should have destroyed it. Mistakes are part of the game, but in the end, its only a game. As much as I have nothing against Bwipo (he’s a funny guy), he should have saved the jokes for after the game. He was overreacting, and that surely impacted his focus. If he had actually focused on the game instead of reacting to certain plays, maybe he would have stayed top to keep Kiin busy or done what I already mentioned. He didn’t even manage to use W or flash in that fight, so he really trolled as much as he could. And finally, I think it’s a mindset issue. They came to have fun as outsiders, but after winning 2 games, they still didn’t believe they could win it all. I mean, they believed, but they already felt like they had achieved something big by taking 2 games off Gen.G. The real accomplishment would have been taking all 3.
considering how diverse the US is, that level of diversity is actually a pretty apt representation of NA. inspired shot a bloom while otw to baron. it's possible that clued GenG off to the baron play. peyz was already otw mid and kiin was finishing up with the top wave. everything else you said about massu's comfort with kalista, bwipo's attitude, and their team mentality are all just speculation of someone who clearly didn't follow Flyquest throughout the year.
GenG just snoozed hard enough to beat an opponent that shouldn't have even been a contest. I hope the GenG choke curse out-does the T1 vs GenG curse and we get a more exciting final.
Fiddlesticks is the most 'do your homework' champion in the game. His 'Fear' theme is so perfect, he is a horror movie villain. If you slip up anywhere, Fiddle will be there to rip you in half, but if you are sufficiently prepared and a bit lucky, he can't hurt you. Flyquest challenged a bunch of Korean teenagers to a homework contest, and paid the price.
its honestly crazy that flyquest managed to take GenG to a damn GAME 5. if Gen G was strugging against NA of all things, i cant wait to see how they fare against T1 where T1 is just...built different in worlds compared to at home
Commentators talking like they have any idea 😂 ”maybe picking fiddlesticks and Sett doesnt matter” ”maybe meta champions arent so meta” theres a reason there is meta champions that are ovetuned in comparison. Skarner is completely broken. It might appear as picks wont matter if youre hugging tower all game 😂
im so sorry for Fly, though i didnt watch them so much thinking they are some "yeah" noobs in the worlds ..... after watching this games im so sorry they lose ..... come on, they had 2 INCREDIBLE games, a 1 game before win and they pick Fiddle and Seth ...... i am a Fiddle player but except from aram where is THE BEAST if u play it right; ..... when will fiddle find a perfect moment for his combo jombo ..... call me noob, dreamer or whatever ..... they play so good i was already seeing them in the finals ...... man im so sorry they lost ........ they had the win in there hands ......
Do you not realise its scripted or they were win trades? Chovy and Peyz were jumping in randomly while running by themselves. It couldn't be more obvious
Nah the misplay of getting kalista killed didn't change anything that was going to unfold as a result of losing the fight. Even if that doesn't happen they can't re-contest the baron. It's embarrassing and looks bad but losing the fight trying to sneak baron is what lost the game. It was a good attempt to sneak it but just not enough damage to really burst through it fast enough.
@@javierheenandez7873 "he killed his teammate here." if you were paying attention the co-casters pointed out that Massu was the one who hit the blast cone. He flashed over the wall and accidentally hit the blast cone.
Not sure if anyone will see this. They could have prioritized another pick over Fiddle. Maybe a Galio before it was banned, since it was such a pocket pick and would unlikely get banned. Not sure if that would change the outlook of the game though.

someone explain why Fly won 2 games. From my perspective. Gen G. have more discipline to not go for crazy stuff that "might" work. On the other hand. That first blood.. had rumble flashing and 2 inches under the tower.. he STILL went full aggression at exactly the right moment. My point. You can't be passive if the time is right.. but you need to calculate risk correct. GenG seems to do that way better.
Game 1 was just a draft that geng didnt expect and fly snowballed it well and game 3 geng just made some uncharacteristic mistakes but all the other games they remembered they are geng (inspired also said they were nervous which also made them play worse)
Can someone PLEASE tell me why its possible to see the baron getting hit without any vision ? Fly tried to rush baron at min 20 in game 5, the camera is over the baron which is completely dark but you can CLEARLY see something happening in there ? I know its been like this forever and it always bothered me but now it kind of decided a worlds quarterfinal. Anyone ???
It's spectator vision bro. GenG couldn't see that. Now if you want to talk about actual bugs that exist for baron there is a rare bug that can happen where you can hear, very quietly, the hits from baron sometimes through fog. I've seen it and had it happen once before. Again it's rare so don't cope here. This was just a case of Fly making a genuinely good call but they just didn't have enough damage to burst baron before GenG got there.
blg vs hle: A fierce clash between the top seeds of China and South Korea wbg vs Ing: The old players worked together perfectly and advanced to the semi-finals geng vs fly: The North American team that was not favored by everyone pushed the favorite to win into a desperate situation t1 vs tes: Faker kicked a stray dog to death on the side of the road
He had no moment to use ult though. Fid is just bad in pro play bc of his style u need to catch enimies off guard with no vision over u but that won't happen in pro.
@@Nam_Le4 Fid just needed to force more. Sweep vision, find a corner, and create a dilemma. His ult is an area denial, let them start an objective and cover it ouchie circle while your team does the rest.
@@Zel_eo thats the problem they r not stupid to not be careful about fiddle once hes spotted on the map hes useless compare to other meta jungle like scarner lee senju vi. Its not possible to ult 5 people in pro play even 2 3 wouldnt possible to begin with. There is a reason why no one play him in pro play until now
@@Nam_Le4 You aren't looking for a 5 man fear my man. You are just doing dmg and cutting the fight in half. Better yet, get 6 and just toss yourself behind mid or bot to cause panic. Dude farmed for next game lol.
@@Zel_eo its hard for fiddle to do anything in team fight when Gen G is the one in control there all their team has wide range ult champs like Zigg Rumble Maokai Smolder. There is no way he can ult them before they ult him. They can literally kill him bf he come close to use ult not to mention LCK is known for their control and map awareness
Trying to think they won't notice 3 people missing, maybe would maybe work against a "silver" team. AND.. the idea only makes sense if you have backup plan of not dying.
As others said if Bwipo wasnt so stupid and keep Rumble busy at top lane they take free baron but i believe even with that GenG will defend and outscale at the end but it would be a banger game 5.
I don't get why GenG is the kryptonite of T1 cus comparing both their performance so far, T1 has been performing flawlessly with little to no mistakes but we'll see how this goes.
They shoudlve told bwipo to just fight the Rumble, they had no idea and just zoing rumble off in the first place wouldve stopped Gen from winning that fight. They werent paying attenion to it and woudlve been paying attention to Sett engaging the rumble.
L take. they were already slightly behind against a ziggs and a smolder who just hit full stacks. then they gave up baron and one kill. Massu hitting blast cone was a misplay, but all it did was make the game end at 30min instead of 33 min
FlyQuest, you have earned my respect!!! Well, put it this way, GENG is a team to claim the S14 trophy with a favour and they have to withstand the high pressure; whereas FlyQuest is typically a unsung hero and they basically have nothing to lose, as such they can fight GEN G with no regret. Dude, this is absolutely, one of the best yet surprising BO5 that I have ever seen.
Looked like a Bronze draft by Flyquest....then they let Gen G farm away for almost 20 min on Smolder...where were the mid ganks? Terrible just terrible
As someone from EU I can clearly appreciate any Western team putting up a good fight in the knockout stage. So, well done FLY! But I must ask WTF? Why they also have that tendency to fumble like G2? First of all, why play those champs in Game 4 that did not workout in Game 2? They got destroyed in the same way. And why force baron in Game 5? It should not have been a do or die situation. They were even in gold and kills before that. They could have just waited for another good picks or a team fight. They played so much better than G2 in the knockout stage but they made the same mistake. And G2 has been making these kind of mistakes for years now and seems like something that just cannot be fixed. Or am I completely wrong?
i like this comment section. i think the rivalry is no longer NA / EU but WEST / EAST. which is cool. who cares whose the 3rd and 4th best region. we’re just trying to take down the titans now
pro could be so much more fun/exiting if htey just did micro nerfs to damage and damage received. Pool could go from 20 champs to 80 ez. Riot doesnt care.
Fly Quest threw it IMO. Shame. Kallista and two melee just food for GG. Utterly stupid baron play from every perspective; even if they win baron its too early to capitalize on it.....thats stuff you see in bronze.
Brainrot take when the casters were saying this could "change how everyone sees drafting" If you're training to defeat a bear and I attack you with a wolf instead you would be surprised but not bested.
winning = bested and they did win games doing it. drafting to surprise the opponent with a strategy you are much more familiar with than them is a winning strategy and G2 could've made it out of groups if they had the balls to do it more like FLY.
yeah, i wanna see a pro play game without the most uninteresting broken champs ever, it really looked like GG only won the second game due to ksante diff, unironically cant do shit against it.
They mentioned it in the pick phase: Inspired has picked Fiddlesticks seven times over his career (this game was number seven). Prior to this, his win rate for Fiddle was three and three, i.e. 50%
Fly drafted an unconventional comp, but they couldn’t get the early game snowball they needed. Yone in the bot lane threw a fight, and then the mid lane support or ADC also threw, completely messing up the tempo. However, the Fiddlesticks pick was a stroke of genius. The most critical moment was when Fly attempted to sneak Baron, with Sett coming from the top lane brush without stepping on the bombs. None of the three players trying to take Baron had a control ward, but the enemy Rumble did. Honestly, this Sett has to be one of the most useless champions in this game
Hey! That's two years in a row where NA went deeper than EU at World's right? Man.... Them EU boys is sad. And, we ALSO took Gen G to the edge? That's cool, man. TL beat a Chinese team at MSI earlier this year. That's cool, man. Baby steps from, "NA will never beat an Eastern team." Hope we take these series to heart from the year and build on it moving forward. Stay sad EU fans! P.S. I'm actually a massive G2 fan. They got me into Pro LoL. Please just enjoy some friendly ribbing. This is the best world wide LoL has looked to me on the pro scene for a while. If only the meta wasn't so boring for most of the year!
This game is so brutal, one game you are 11/0 invincible mega carrying kaisa that's the pround and hope of your region, the other you are a kalista that literaly 4 AUTOATTACKS is all you can do bewteen a misclick on a blast cone that kills yourself and the end of your world journey, 3 of which is when dying desperatly cornered in the wrong side of the map, 1 of which is even more desperate on 1hp and before panic flash into a rumble ult. Still makes NA's history. It just feels like your fate is not at all in your own hands sometimes.
