It is a Mandolin, and they are from Regina, which is in south-central Saskatchewan approx 500 miles due west of the Geographic centre of North America.
It would seem to me that their area of Canada is basically the equivalent of Alabama/Mississippi in the US. Great song, really dig the minor chord choice.
Wikipedia has their start point as Regina ... mind you that's Wikipedia so I tend to take facts from there with a large pinch of salt! Saskatchewan I'm sure is the correct province either way 🤣
great version, my only criticism is that last part their shouting the lyrics instead of keeping the audio level that they were singing during the rest of the video
