Monty Python throughout. Terry Gilliam the director John Cleese was Robin Hood, Michael Palin was the guy who couldnt quite kiss his girlfriend. That being said, you absolutely have to watch Brazil ..... for a little mind bending before it was a thing.....

There was actually a third film, Terry Gilliam, made. But yes, this was one of 3 side projects the Monty Python group did. This one, however, was backed by George Harrison, who sings the song at the end of the film. He totally believed in the troupe and this film.

The ending is great, Terry Gilliam was asked about the ending at the time and he said childrens films were always done from an adults perpective on what they want there children to see and he went to opposite way with Time Bandits, he was right as I watched this in the early 80's when I was about 9 and it was one of my favorite films back then and never freaked me out.

Kenny Baker (R2D2) as Fidgit! Such a fun movie. Yes, this movie is like Terry Pratchett and Monty Python had a baby. The director, Terry Gilliam, was part of the Monty Python team. Mostly did the crazy animation shorts. Also the only American of the team. So not surprising that John Cleese and Michael Palin, two other members of MP, were in the film. Terry Gilliam has done some of my most favorite movies over time. This one being his first and ending with the Man Who Killed Don Quixote.

Next, "Brazil", "The Adventures of Baron Von Munchausen" - all films by Terry Gilliam (one of the Monty Python group) plus some other films. If you have ever watched "Life Of Brian" or "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" then you will recognise Terry Gilliam's work. Gilliam is the only American in the Monty Python team and so yes there were some other Pythons in the film. Gilliam was responsible for the Animations in Python, so you can see the influence in this story. - Did you notice that the Devils Castle was made from Lego, and all the "heroes" the Bandits brought to the fight were all Toys on Kevins Bedroom floor

Terry Gilliam showed off his comedic directorial chops with this. And having Michael Palin and John Cleese from Monty Python appear in the movie was icing on the cake. I'm a huge Python fan. Your not wrong about the ending -- it is a story from a child's perspective, and it ends the way a child would want. Parents are terrible, and I can take care of myself. Now move on to Brazil (and the middle age perspective) and Adventures of Baron Munchausen (and the old age perspective -- also possibly the greatest fantasy movie of all time).

Because most here will be too young: the Supreme Being was played by the late, great Sir Ralph Richardson, one the legendary triumvirate of English acting knights which included Sir John Gielgud and Lord Laurence Olivier. (Sir Alec Guinness, aka Obi-Wan Kenobi, came quite a bit later but was generally included amongst them, even though all three were key to Guinness becoming an actor and having a career in the first place.) For English actors of the time, Richardson was viewed as a kind of God, especially of the stage, and Terry Gilliam said as much about casting him for the Supreme Being. Sadly, few remember him now, mainly because he was more of a stage actor and because he never had a role in something which remained huge long after his death (like Guinness did, with the original STAR WARS films). He was always a ton of fun to watch on screen, though.

The shit he puts his cast and crew though is second only to James Cameron practicallly drowning everyone on The Abyss. Thats why the Pythons mostly all swore off working with him after this film... becuase Terry treats people as if they were the paper cartoon cutouts he made for Monty Python.
