Not to mention working a grinding job alters your mind in such a way to make you more susceptible to bad domestic decisions, like going out to eat. I know they talk about grinding ramen, but that shit is TERRIBLE for your body. Actually diet is another blight of the poor and will cost you later in life. Get educated about what you're putting in your body. Most foods and big brands are selling you straight garbage because it meets regulations enough to keep prices low. Hell, even nutrition labels are not actually representative of what's in the food. Companies are allowed to round down counts of fat and carbs if it only has a certain amount of one substance in it. That's why companies use many substances: high fructose corn syrup, sugar, fructose, agave nectar, brown sugar, cane sugar, corn sweetener, dextrose, maltose. All sugar, and probably represented as 1 gram of sugar or less. That shit is anticonsumer and these companies fucking know it.

At that point, I was spending quite literally all of my energy at that workplace, and all of my money into surviving and the boss wants to come in and talk shit? It's not that the dude at 20:00 is wrong, it's that his advice is tonedeaf. Things have gotten worse, undeniably so. As in: can not be disputed. If you look at the average wage, mortgage and the average house price from today and contrast it to the average wage, mortgage and average house price of 30 years ago, you need to work approximately 8-12 years longer to be able to afford a similar home (depending on where you are). Because this is not feasible, people feel forced to take on multiple jobs, or at least secure a job that allows them to work a minimum of 50 hours a week. I won't even argue with anyone: negative health effects of working more than 40 hours a week and positive health effects of working 32 hours a week, are proven fact at this point. It is not that people CAN'T buy houses, it is that people are letting you know they are being overworked. The dude's argument is: 'but... you can just overwork and then you'll be able to afford it?' Like, yeah, everyone knows. That's the problem.

I don't live near a city my town has a population of 1,200 there are surrounding towns/cities with populations of like 15k 40k and 60k 4. Im actually making more money with my kids because I pay less taxes and we don't pay for child care because my wife is able to stay home.and be an amazing mom. 5. Literally a guy who makes a living talking into a camera and playing video games on camera. I don't believe he has any meaningful input on the modern day situation on the working class. The largest issue the working class is dealing with is housing. Corporate ownership + investment purchases have fucked the market over for years, making homes more expensive then ever. With homes out of reach for many this causes more demand for apartments, hence causing that market to balloon up. The surplus of undocumented immigrants sure doesn't help since they compete in the rental market. Housing is what is killing the working class more then anything else. Looking at CoL to wages ratios in the 50s-80s to what we see today and it's kind boggling.

I think capitalism can be good for a lot of things but this is certainly one of the major reasons so many people oppose it, companies get away with largely underpaying people and not giving them any free time. Also its much easier said than done to just "get another job" currently where many people struggle to even find one that they qualify for, most people who say just get another job are people like asmongold who do basically nothing all day and give job takes which they have no room to speak about.

I used to be one of those bitter assholes with the mentality of “well I had it rough so you should, too.” Now, I have an entirely new perspective. I couldn’t imagine being the age Gen Z is now (I’m a 42 year old Millennial) and trying to get my feet wet in the world. There’s no way. And spare me the crap of “minimum wage was never meant to be a long-term deal.” No, it wasn’t, but when many jobs in my area base their pay off of min wage then brag about how starting you out at $12-$15 an hour is amazing money, it’s fukin joke. I was barely getting by back in my early 20’s, where half my take home pay went to rent alone. I didn’t go out, never could afford fast food, milk and juice was a luxury I couldn’t afford, etc. Yeah it made me hustle and become the success I am today but I also caught some damn lucky breaks along the way. I had managers take massive gambles on me in jobs I had absolutely no experience in, I got lucky that I never had a major disaster such as a flood or medical emergency, etc. And I’ve done the multiple job thing, it’s not worth it. Humans were never meant to be this abused.

Older millennial here. It's not just Gen Z: we're with you. The adulthood my generation was promised was stripped away from us years ago, and that became more and more apparent as I entered into my late 20s and then into my 30s. If my wife and I didn't have a hand-me-down house from her dead grandmother, there's no way we could afford a house. The entire system is broken and it's a fucking joke. Hearing other millennials and older generations gaslight everyone and pretend like things are vastly more fucked than they have been in years past is ridiculous to me. Yes, a lot of people hate their jobs, but it's a lot easier to stomach than reality when you're not living paycheck to paycheck. Over half of Americans report living paycheck to paycheck, and there really are people out here dumb enough to act like there's nothing wrong with that, and it's the American worker that's the problem. This comment section already tells me a lot about what plagues modern society. You already see a lot of people out of touch, who aren’t even that old, possibly in their 30s but they are still out of touch with the current generation because of how fast things are evolving. Society has become a full-on corporate dystopia where they currently call the shots including for major stuff inside the government (lobbying), and nobody pays attention to it. That’s the real issue, corporations were never meant to gain such power over people because the government would step in and punish them if they did. The government no longer does that, in fact they even encourage it.

All politicians were lawyers, doctors, accountants, etc. as their main career and did the politics thing as a side hustle. They only physically reported to DC twice a year max for important votes. Get rid of lobbying, get rid of 80% of society's ailments overnight. And another 15% of society's problems are caused by Feminism and birth control pills. Get rid of that, and intergender dynamics will be fixed overnight just as nature intended.

Sorry to break it to you but its been that way since before WW1. Corporations lobby to create laws that destroy the competition. Its the antithesis to the free market. What we have is not free market capitalism, its a borderline command economy and its been allowed to get this bad because the government controls the money supply instead of it being based on a physical commodity like gold. Now they can print infinite money which makes the poor poorer and the rich richer.

Yeah. Life is completely awful for the current teenagers and 20-somethings, and even the current 30-somethings usually don't quite realize that.

I'm a white male with close to 20 years customer service and sales experience and 10 years delivery experience. And yet, I can't get a job. I want to work, but I know McDonalds wont cut it for my rent and bills. This is just insane to me.

You can easily get a trucking or cargo transport job. Medical supply to-house delivery pays well, certain truck routes, transport jobs at the airport, etc.

If you have a car try out medical deliveries, it pays a lot. Walmart and target also have their platforms for deliveries. It might work out for you

You wasted 30 years, didn't think to progress your career and now avoid accountability. I wouldn't hire you either.
