I think the biggest issue we have in the U.S is a lack of respect for others beliefs. The woman in pink perfectly embodies what's wrong with gen z. She's one of the most privileged people in the world and says Gen Z has had it 'extremely hard'. This woman has honestly no idea what extremely hard means. And comes across as completely tone def. But that's what happens when all the information you read feeds into your pre-existing belief that the U.S is the worst place ever. These people have it MUCH better than most. It's just a complete lack of perspective.
@pratosaurusrex1128

Context is important. I presume she is talking about America rather than the entire world. She is also likely comparing her quality of life to her parents (who are likely to be Gen X), when all of the hallmarks of traditionally successful life (house, car, stable relationship, hobbies, vacation etc) were arguably on average easier to get. Especially housing and stable relationships. Wages have not kept up with house prices and using dating apps sucks, whatever gender you are. While it’s not good to let these feelings fester it’s also not good to dismiss them either.

@@rash9488 $310 a month mortgage? That’s great going! How long have you been a homeowner? Was the down payment a large % of your home value? Reason I ask all these questions is different circumstances have different outcomes. Some can’t get enough pay to save for the down payment because of rents and other costs, others have the down payment (or sometimes the whole property) gifted to them by their rich family. Also a slight aside as I know nothing of the US mortgage market (I’m U.K. based). Over here interest rates have gone up by 5% in 18 months, so a number of people have seen their repayments go up by $600 a month overnight.

As a Europian, I can confirm the gender politics are sneaking in here. Today a few interns had to ASK OUR 11, 12 AND 13 YEAR OLD STUDENTS. If they even felt like they were in the wrong body or that they were attracted to the opposite gender. This was pushed by their college and I refused to let my students fill in the questions. It's up to me as a teacher to make my students feel safe to think about what they want to think about. It's not for me to plant those ideas in their mind. Let kids be kids and discover the world. Let them come to me with questions when they have questions. Don't make them question themselves.... We are pushing too much...

@obietrice2309
@obietrice2309 10 месяцев назад
When they said systemic racism and rights against trans kids were some of the biggest issues, they lost me. Systemic racism is often confused with individual racism. There are no factors holding me, a black man, from becoming a successful person in this country. There is no laws against what business and how I can start one. A lot of that rhetoric is exasperated through social media and honestly feels like a psyop to keep us divided and dumbed down. Trans kids issues may be a problem but to say they are a pivotal reason is insane. If anything, we should be focused on the “why” trans numbers have risen dramatically with Gen z. Mental health is a big factor of that but since it’s “wrong” to classify trans people as having a mental condition known as gender dysphoria they are becoming more enabled and I feel like a lot of them just really want acceptance from any group and transitioning is one of the easiest ways to acquire that.

I am 20-year-old mixed race (Hispanic) male. Grew up in a military family with my dad ( Hispanic) who served for 20 years in the Marines. I love this country. and so does my dad. I have never experienced racism. In fact, my white friends have experienced more racism than me. Yes, we had our issues, yes, we have done terrible things as America. But these people hating on America, really are truly ignorant of how good they have it. They hate the values and rights America has handed them because they are taught that we are an evil nation, and yet they still use these rights every day without knowing it. I would challenge them to go to most other nations, and then tell me how racist the US is, how much it hates women, how cops behave towards civilians, etc... my dad saw these issues firsthand when fighting overeas, and America is nothing close to being a bad nation. Most of these issues that they bring up, only truly have a few examples to back them up, but the media blows the issue up and generalizes it for all of America... for example, the idea that cops are hunting down black men and gunning them down for no reason or locking them up for nothing. This is blatantly false. Do we have a crime and justice issue? Yes. Is the solution to create a race war, attack cops, and abolish the justice system? NO! I do agree with some of the answers though, that America has lost a lot of its good values, and is exporting a culture of ignorance and insanity to the rest of the world. the Trans "rights" issue and other social justice movements being an example. And yes, we do have a problem with massive corporations that are in bed with our big government, mandating things and manipulating things behind the general population's back. We have an issue with our education system, teaching children that mutilating their genitals, having abnormal sex, and taking hormone drugs is affirming. It is telling women that men who think they are women, can come in their bathrooms, harass and assault them, or take their trophies, and get away with it. THESE are the issues we face in America. The people who hate America, are fighting for the wrong causes. They are trying to take rights away, not give them. They are trying to censure and attack people, not include them.

We were fighting two separate wars simultaneously, and society was just concerned with whether you were joining the fight or not. These high schoolers in 2023 have no wars to worry about dying in, and yet they act like their world is ending because they can't use any bathroom they want or a politician used a mean word. I know it makes me sound old, but the kids today would have been MERCILESSLY bullied for this delusional mindset back in the 2000's. The world is not filled with hate. Gen Z just believed the ultimate lie of "I am special." Nobody is special. You're not special. Your friends are not special. Your family is not special. Nobody is special. We are all equally unimportant. That's why there is so much "anxiety" with Gen Z. They genuinely believe life is supposed to be rainbows and unicorns. I thinks it’s wise to remember families break down for reasons that are not usually due to “societal trends” or perceived pressures. It’s usually something much more real.

Personally, I think the issue with the lack of unity in the US and lack of patriotism in Gen Z is from a lack of common values, as pointed out in the video when people have a common national tragedy to focus on they tend to unify behind the country more. Both sides of the political spectrum nowadays put an emphasis on how we are 'different' from the other side rather than finding common ground. Now add that onto the barely formed identities of teenagers and their usually easily impressed minds and it's easy to see why you would end up with such radical minds from younger populations on both sides...

Hi , We also face this in France nowadays , this problem exported from USA in the first place. You are probably right but with everything that is tough in your schools / College and University are from now far more focused on making differencies a trait : Like everything is special and need to be treated as something great , pushed by political and social agendas ( even if it means throwing everything established by parental education , science , and past societies off ). I'm not saying that it is bad , but where we were told to be tolerent and live in acceptance , today we also need to fight to for these things to be relevent in the future : Like a war between (Wokism) and (Science/Religion) Wokism has some aspect to be considered taking into society today as a whole , but what we see (in france for instances) are all the stupidity , and the bullshit bias that US throw to Western Europe. USA has that much of a softpower that if it fails , others will follow and that's a fact that we know all too well. I hope everything will clear for US in few years for this country to rebuilt itself and grow stronger.

i mean, maybe the reason why we're closed off and "soft" is because many of us are just psychologically in a fragile state. maybe the problem is that the world is such a mindgame, and i mean it is a serious mindfuck nowadays. you have to firstly learn about adulting extremely quick after high school, balance that with your expectations and the expectations of others, everybody gets pushed into pursuing a university education because... to be fair, university-educated people do actually earn the most money, assuming everything goes well. the operative clause being, "assuming everything goes well", because graduate unemployment is a huge issue plaguing a lot of new graduates from uni. so, the fact that things like trade school, alternative post-secondary options, and the option of no post-secondary are now being promoted is really cool, but still, whether you go into uni or not, the market nowadays is just way more cutthroat than it used to be anyway, so you have to desperately find something to stand out against hundreds or thousands of others to get a job and an income to survive on and also, not to mention, i didn't even get into how loneliness is one of the biggest issues out now. this is surely to do with the internet and how it is making people tend away from actual social interactions and having to deal with people out there who have different views. not that i am claiming to have any mental health issues; i personally don't, but lots of young people, girls and boys both, have lots of them. even for us that don't we have things like huge loads of stress and burnout to contend with also. so, i personally think the reason people are nasty to each other over a difference in opinion where they didn't used to be is because most people are less mentally healthy, or literally more insane, than they used to be.

We’ve had a constant move towards expanding both political and cultural acceptance of people without regard to innate traits we cannot control. We’ve created the most prosperous society in history, a period of relative peace and global development and raised standards of living. We do have issues. Our education is crumbling, our politics are getting divided and ineffective at tackling anything that matters. We’re seeing huge centralization of wealth and power on the backs of the common people. These aren’t insurmountable problems, but we have to come together in good faith to fix it, and we cannot rely on our current government to do it for us.

I'm not American but I am an observer from a much smaller Western country: Australia. One thing that scares me is the amount of influence the divide in America has on my country. A lot of sociopolitical "problems" that didn't exist in my country suddenly existed because of our ties as a Western country, but the reality is we made those problems ourselves. There's almost a narrative in liberal politics in America that being opressed is a good thing, having hardships you can't overcome is a good thing such as being a minority but especially being a struggling minority instead of acknowledging how good you have it. Whenever I see someone from a minority say they've had a good life and are grateful for what they have, others will tell them they're an outlier, they're blind to the truth of their existance, they should be ashamed. It seems there's this culture over there among my generation, Gen Z, that if you're grateful for what you have you're uninformed and you should always be bitter about what you don't have instead. And there are moments where this anger is justified- not being able to afford rent, having no friends, being born to a low socioeconomic position, having a failing educations system. But sometimes people don't seem to understand that they have so many more opportunities in America with their own position that even I as an Aussie don't have. My country is also geographically the bottom of a pillar beneath South East Asian Countries as well as East Asian countries like Japan, SK and China. To be honest because of our sparce military but also vast geographical position, anybody could run through our country and take over very quickly and one of the main reasons they don't is because of our alliance with the American military. Seeing their rates go down is extremely nerve wracking because if may eventually hit a point where countries who are "protected" by America suddenly won't be and war and takeover may break out, completely flipping America's strength on its back. Sometimes I get jealous of the USA. No, a lot of the time I'm jealous of the USA and how good they have it over there, but I'm also angered by how much they convince themselves the things they have that are lucky are considered bad. I think that Americans need to be world educated. They're world leaders but they don't know anything about the world around them. They compare their problems to their own problems so of course it will always be the worst. But I think opening their eyes to the nuance and ways other countries are will help them to view their country more objectively than reactively too.

In our pursuit of pleasure and comfort we've pushed to the point where the best is what we don't have, and there's a sense of entitlement. People don't recognize what a gift it is to be free, to express one's self and to live in a country that allows people to flourish. If instead we could focus on gratitude, generosity and what it means to really love people and foster real community (outside the world of our phones), we can solve a lot of the issues we face, and even when pushing through the issues, we will have hope and a deeper happiness than if we only look towards what we don't have.

I hope you enjoy the $2,700 monthly payment on top of property taxes, utilities(which just quadrupled in the last two years), and maintenance. Let alone food, savings, or investing. Oh, right. Zero jobs pay $25.00/hr or above without a master's degree or equivalent unless you want to drive 75 minutes to the nearest city.

As a Gen Z I think to a certain extent we do have it harder than other generations not bc we are over dramatic or can’t distinguish news from propaganda, but more so bc of the changes happening in the world that are making our generation struggle to live the same “level of life” and same level of “quality” that others before us had or were able to experience. I mean issues like a broken education system, money being worth less than many imagined it would get, a lack of resources to move up the ladder, and too much negativity on the news mixed w/ a pandemic no one was prepared for. It seems like every time u pull up the paper to read the weekly news there doesn’t seem to be anything positive to mention so that takes away “hope” for a better future or give any confidence to those who are already on the fence, that America still has the American dream and that anything is possible in this country. I’m not saying being able to read the paper and see what’s going on is a bad thing bc some countries don’t have that opportunity, but it’s difficult to sometimes be positive when there is so much negativity in general that goes back many years and in recent years has gotten worse.

I hate america because it’s a country that doesn’t value its own citizens. Me, someone who was born on US soil, can barely afford college without falling tens of thousands in debt to pay for forty years of my life. However, people not born in America, come here and are given better lives (depends on what country they’re from). A good example is my last neighbors were from India. They came here with high hopes, were given a free education, and got higher paying jobs. Another problem is the fact high schools don’t teach information that is an actual necessity such as credit, or financial teachings. Instead, they waste four years of teenagers lives teaching chemistry when most people do not need to use or know that on a daily basis. Or for the schools that DO offer finance classes, they’re not usually a mandatory class, often a pathway or elective, keeping us uninformed on self-sufficient finance capabilities which benefits the government and the CEOs every time people uneducated on this subject get payday loans, title loans, don’t understand how credit works, fall into debt to these people, continuing the process where the rich get richer. Even just paying taxes, you’re buying someone at the top (maybe big brother) another Porsche to add to their million dollar house’s garage.

Just did some research: Your channel here on RU-vid says you come from Peru. Now i don’t personally live there, but I’m judging based on human experiences and statistics shared online. Peru is currently a 2nd world country, but a developing one being a “vital ally to the United States”. And plenty of websites say Peru is a middle income country. The USA is apparently a high income country. And it seems like statistics are showing crime rates dropped over the years, but i think we all know statistics are often payed for and made up to alter opinions of outsiders. But i see where you’re coming from, we’re often known as privileged, and i totally agree and won’t deny it. I was just stating the state of my country atm. I personally sense we’re (USA) getting worse and worse year by year.

Gen Z is not being taught to hate America. Both Gen Z and Millennials take a contextual look at America from the boomer era, the gen x era, and the current era and understand the country is an objectively worse place to live. This being despite our advancements in technology. Between mass greed, unhealthy consumerism, increased crime, ridiculous inflation, and the polarization of politics/social ideas, the American dream as imagined in the 50s and 60s is absolutely dead. I hear stories from my grandparents and parents about how much they got paid compared to the cost of living and it’s insanely different. A middle class American would need to work two jobs today to maintain the standard of living that our forefathers only needed to work one job for. I think it’s mainly culture that’s caused this issue. Too much hustle culture and consumerism, not enough focus on family and community. This doesn’t even cover the perspective of minorities - why would minorities have pride in a nation that historically didn’t want them there? From the perspective of my parents - imagine being told to say the pledge of allegiance after the kkk burned crosses at your school’s football field. Let’s just say I was not taught patriotism.

The cops have been "defunded". Some even buy vests with their own money. Our borders are the biggest issue. Thousands of people coming into the country everyday, most are all military aged males, and the government greets them all with open arms. Crime is going up, especially sexual crimes against women. Meanwhile houses are getting more expensive so some of our citizens are forced to live in the street or in their cars because they cant pay rent.

America has a lot of problems with its own governing system and on a social level, yet it’s still not the worst country to live in and still offers more privileges and opportunities than other countries. The newer generation are the ones who forget what it means to be American and fixate on both current and past mistakes with good intentions; it’s only when people take extreme actions where they lose sight of the overall picture. Others have also commented that a loss of values also contributes to the overall loss of patriotism and I agree, when you can get almost anything you want and not think twice about it you slowly forget how you were without that kind of opportunity. Personally, I think the ease of technology and services had a major impact on Gen Z because it made older skills and challenges obsolete that are rarely used or practiced like a public pay phone or a bus schedule, all of which can be done with last year’s iPhone.
