Nice job! I do think people don't stop to think that these Lack tables are made of honeycombed paper and that over time screws (especially the typical wood screw) will not hold any but the most trivial load in the long term. To mitigate you can fill the screw holes with lots of glue (though might take a long time to cure dependent on which glue is used) or better yet glue thin plywood to bottom of table and mount through the plywood with something like MDF screws that have deep threads intended for low strength material. The drawer design is great though- is just the table mounting that I have reservations about.

Hi Jarri, thanks for drawing that - I've been looking for a long time and was close to drawing something myself... but it's no longer necessary since you've done the job! One of the very few models that I download from the internet, so you did an excellent well. Very good job - thank you very much!

Thank you, My first version of these drawers worked really well but we're difficult to install and had a lot of limitations. I decided to redesign them from the ground up which has made it significantly easier to make really anything as long as it fits into this rail system.

This is an awesome design. I've had an extra Lack table that I haven't set up yet and am thinking that I'll see it up to get myself some extra storage space.

cool but fyi there is absolutely no *need* to pre-drill something like that. pre-drilling is to prevent splitting. That particleboard wont split.

There's a few places I would love to use these but doing so would end up wasting space because those spaces have a deeper space available to use. I would love to see a way to support double-deep or any-number-deep drawers by locking drawer and drawer cases together front-to-back to create a long drawer.

Love this. Have you thought of making this wall mountable? especially for the small drawers
@jerrari3D
@jerrari3D Год назад
Absolutely. I recently printed some RepRacks from Repkord to hang my filament on the walls and those can hold some serious weight, which really shocked me. I should be able to come up with something strong. Sounds like a good winter project/challenge to tackle.

May give this a go, especially the tilt bins. I am in the process of a contractor work van build. Any future plans of making the bins and/or drawer lockable? I know I can do rubber bands or bungie cords, but that would make these beautiful bins rather ghetto looking.
@jerrari3D
@jerrari3D Год назад
I really like that idea and would love to play around with incorporating that as an option. I'm trying to think of the best lock design for vehicle transportation. I'm imagining a tab on the front that when slid pushes a rod into the side of the case, basically a slide lock, would something like that work. This also would help lead into another future project I've been thinking about.
@ejholbs3730
@ejholbs3730 Год назад
@@jerrari3D for the medium/larger tilt tins, a simple 1/8" sliding catch lever that catches on a small 1/8" post on the side of the bin itself. would be mechanically simple.

How do the drawer stoppers work? I was assuming they are to stop the drawer from getting pulled all the way out. But they don't seem to do anything with my installation. Any additional guidance will be appreciated.

Great model, just printed out one to test around my shop! Curious where the "drawer stoppers" go? I believe they pop into the base of the drawer case, R and L perspectively? Does the flap stick up or down? Thanks!
@jerrari3D
@jerrari3D 2 месяца назад
The door stoppers will press fit into the front bottom of the drawer cases. They are marked L and R for the left and right side placement, the tab you will want facing down, this is what the drawer will run into. Awesome to here you are interested in trying it out! Let me know if you have any other questions. My Latest video on GEN2 QuickLock includes some more detailed assembly examples as well.

@@jerrari3D Thank you! Now that I have them installed properly I realize how silly I am - I did not originally realize they are for the drawers below! 🤣 Thank you so much for the quality model and the reply! You've more than earned this sub and follow!! 👍

have you thought about making a adaptor for mounting the lcd outside the enclosure?
@jerrari3D
@jerrari3D Год назад
I haven't personally, but I have come across revised models of my old lack drawer design that people modified. The Gen2 design has a rail mount piece that could be modified for this. Do you know how wide the ribbon cable is? I could make a model for that application.
@jerrari3D
@jerrari3D Год назад
Hi Anders, I just completed a model you might be interested in. It allows you to pass the ribbon cables between the GEN2 Rails and the bottom side of the table. You can then use any mount for attaching the LCD outside the enclosure. www.printables.com/model/291973-gen2-external-control-rails-for-lack-enclosures

I appreciate the work that went into this design but I have to say that the tolerances are a little too tight. I realy have to work to get these things put together. They are definitely not as simple as they appear in the video.

Most of the drawers are 6 hours or less, so I don't think it will take a year...
@oakld
@oakld Год назад
@@LongDono It was meant as an artistic expression of the fact that it takes a LOT of time :-). And 6 hours means I can only print like 1 piece a week, since I don't leave my printer unattended...

Just bought a 3D printer (my fault) with the idea to make exactly like these things.... Then I learned the hard way.... printing this stuff will take months.... what a waste.
