I just got a physical copy of the game, and since I had no idea how to play this, I wanted to see it played. This made me cry, this is so good and I can't wait to play!
I'm so late to the news of this game, and I'm so sad I missed when it came out. Everything about this has sold me, from the theme to the mechanics to the music. This playthrough was beautiful and powerful on so many levels, and precisely what I look for in an RPG. Now I'm going to listen to the "Life is Strange" soundtrack in a state of melancholy.
Just rewatching this after playing a game myself. Such a great experience - I think we got the worst possible ending, with Alice and one of the friends dead (and, because we had just three players it really hit home). The voice mails at the end are such a great touch, especially when they somehow tap into events that could not easily have been predicted.
@@ginachew4280 Oh, it was a while ago, so memories are hazy. It's more intense, perhaps, than a larger game, as the smaller number of people to text to tightens the focus on a smaller number of dramas, whereas a larger group has a lot more intertwining subplots that feel like a messy teenaged life. Still good but we had a climax that was pretty much all three of us descending on the National Park and running around in the dark, until the final tragic ending.
This was absolutely amazing but if I had ONE criticism, it's the fact that the audience wasn't able to see the counter. I think it would have added more suspense to see the clock winding down. Other than that, this was amazing, and truly devastating.
I watched this in preparation of playing it with some cross stitch friends on Tuesday, and I absolutely fell in love with this. I’m going to rewatch it on my computer to catch some of the stuff I missed the first time around. But I’m definitely buying this!
Oh my gosh... I just found the box the other day in my fav book/game store in town. Loved the design. Loved the art. Was curious about how it played. Looked at Becca's rule and now this playthrough. I think I'm buying the game tomorrow. I don't know with whom to play yet but... Instant Crush of a game! Wooow! Gosh! This was tense.
Reaction at 2:32:50 is so real. When I played my first game of Alice is Missing it was on my mind for several weeks after that. Truly amazing, emotional, experience.
It was awesome! Something difficult to follow, but damn I was in... (some tears near the end. But i'm allergic surely...) Thank you for this experience!!
I was watching this just to see how to play the game before I do, and I immediately got hooked when the messaging started. It was a wild ride, and I cried.
Gave up on finding a group to play the game with and just watched this gameplay. Pretty good. Would still love to play it if possible with a group. . . Some notes about the video: -Would've loved being able to see the cards the characters drew. -Chat screens were cut off right at the name, which made the identification of who's talking to whom difficult. -I guess I can't complain too much about the screen size. I used a zooming feature to be able to read the text. I guess the cams could've been a bit smaller to make the text bigger, but it's fine. The game is special and the stream was experimental and it turned out overall pretty good in the end. . . . Thanks to all host/s and guests, great play everyone!
I just got my copy in the mail! I bought it on a whim because I really like true crime, and small town mysteries. In reading through the rules, and especially after hearing the first few tracks on the timer, along with how much role playing freedom you get, I’m now super excited to play!!
i was not expecting this to emotionally affect me as much as it did but MAN. the climax literally had my heart racing. such a cool game and i can't wait to play it
I bought this game yesterday and watched this to get a feel of the gameplay. This was a delight to watch and I'm so excited to see what ending my group will get
Just bought this game from my LGS over the weekend. Wanted to see how this plays out online since that's where I'll probably be trying it out first. Very interesting premise for how the game works, though it's hard to wrap my head around since I'm used to regular D&D style round-table games. Edit: Also, ngl, kinda fun to fish through the actual cards while watching and work out which clue cards they had at each interval lol
Great game. I'm going to run it tonight for our first session of 2021: we started 2020 with Ten Candles and the year didn't turn exactly fine, I hope your game brings us luck. :-D
Loved this game. I wanted to see how the playthrough goes before my first. At the beginig I found it a little bit hard to follow - all those chats. But it really gives a kind of real-life experirce to this game. Absolutely stunning. Thank you all.
Just played this game yesterday with a group of friends (I was playing Julia). And what an experience! 😳 It felt kinda weird at first sitting in complete silence, but once we got into the game it was such a thrilling mystery helped by our group chat and private messaging (I ended up having a bit of a rivalry with Evan and kinda labelled him in our game as an incel) really helped with an amazing soundtrack! 😅 Both very intense and entertaining! We’ve agreed in our group to try it again some other time (after a good while so it will be a new experience again) and this time not hold anything back, as we kind of did. In my mind, nobody is really a saint (although they like to present themselves as one)
Leaving this comment here, but to anyone who wants to play reply and I'll make a discord!! This game looks amazing, and I'm a sucker for story building games like this- spectacular job!!!
Getting ready to play this today, in like 20 min. Just laying out the cards, getting music ready and reading up on rules. Looking foreward to playing :)
Quick update: we're done, everyone went from "wtf is this weird shit" to "my hands are shaking from emotion!". It was my first time, a few mistakes and misunderstandings, but all in all a amazing experience 🙂
Well I’m late to this party… It’s so hard to follow all the texting at once. This vid might need to be watched multiple times, focusing on each character, in order to figure everything out.
Going to have my first game in a few days on Roll20 and I will be the facilitator...can't wait!!! High expectations! PS: how can Becca be SO lovely in any gesture? is it anything people learn/practice or is it something you need to be born with? :P
Just got the game and am so excited to play I just had to see how it was done. Just got past the introductions and setup and am already anxious to see how the story goes!!
Trying to figure out how to set this up for an Actual Play for a charity event, any suggestions on how they did the windows for personal chat? Using OBS as our tool to stream.
They used facebook's Messenger. roll20 isn't a good text system for this, as there's only one chat window and it's not easy to have side stories. Discord is a good substitute if you don't want to use facebook.
While I love this, I feel like the Roll 20 version of the game is still robbed of a rule book... Yes there us a hand out but I've checked emails, the official page and Roll 20 and there is no obvious location where the rule book is... For now, this will have to be my best reference.
If you go to the "Marketplace" tab, click on "Your Purchases" and choose Alice Is Missing, on the product page you'll see a button that says "Download PDF" about halfway down the page!
Still , you can do whatever you want, the game will end HOW it wants, so that's basically a meh. Nice role acting from people trying to sell the game It's an experience for sure, no need to play it more than once tho.
This was the most pretentious RPG I've ever had the misfortune of playing. The role playing you have leaves you with plot holes and wrong directions explored unless you meta or play it as boring as possible.
