The "Crit Awards", an indie game award ceremony, apparently scheduled to be held in this year's Gencon, includes openly anti-Semitic statements in its regulations.

The ADL Twitter just thanked Gen Con for removing the CRIT Awards, and recognizing that antizionism is antisemitism. And yet, the idiots crying tears over this will claim to know better than the ADL what antizionism is, and continue to claim that antizionism is completely different than antisemitism. I wish we were in a smarter timeline.

The Munk Debates are incredible, like a dinosaur that has survived from an earlier era, when people engaged in vigorous public debate. If you've never seen any, you should try a youtube search for them, they're almost always great.

Autenticity & knowledge are some of your strenghts in your works and books. Too many of old DnD worlds or campaingns were sometime just bad rip offs with poor real worldims or just uninspired works. I think great to have authenthic ways to have more realistic campaigns, or just go full fantasy world with no real worlds bad copies. Keep the good work, mate.

Yes, but a ton of fantasy RPGs claim to be "medieval fantasy", when they mean fantasy with some very surface-level medieval trappings. The problem, as the publisher of L&D pointed out in an ad he made, is that a ton of people THINK they've played tons of "medieval fantasy", and until they play a game like L&D or BoF, they really haven't. They just played "renaissance faire fantasy".

I have the Gonzo Fantasy Companion and I find it an absolute treasure trove of an ideal well. As your social encounters on the silk road. It's not specific to any game I play. I play AD&d 2E. But those tables are just a wealth of ideas. I can roll on a random table get some idea that fits your setting totally doesn't fit our game but I can get a great nugget of an idea that'll make the same theme fit within the setting. It's all great stuff. Also I'm a history buff so when I DM'd there was a little more rustic realism.

Salvage Union by Leyline Press jumped out at me. They won the people's choice award for best roleplaying game at UK Games Expo this year. I think they also had/have an Ennie nomination. A solid mech game. I also know Dragon Dowser -- Hatchling Games -- I didn't make it to their booth this UKGE so I haven't seen it yet. I saw Fumble Folks book "Ritual Spellbook and Witch Class" for 5e at UKGE as well. They also run a small RPG shop in Cardiff. Looks like a quality book though I only took a very quick peak.

Israel is in fact a nation state and the Jewish religion is in fact a religion. That doesn't make the Crit Awards regulations right, and they were correct to cancel it. However, the far right in the TTRPG community has been a source of anti-Semitism and hatred for far longer, have you made a video or statement on that over the course of the last decade? That wouldn't fit your polarized lens that seeks to turn everything in our world right now into political binaries, would it? You, who replied to another comment assuming I'm some sort of blue-haired leftist with six septum piercings just because I disagreed with you. Corporate leftism is having a horrible effect of media of all kinds, and it pains me deeply that I cannot find anyone online who speaks about it with any nuance. Folks online seem to often think that THEY are the ones acting against an ideological, reactionary opposition. But from outside of the fish tank, it's clear that they are just as reactionary and ideologically-motivated. Our own moment in history is surely bright red with embarrassment at its own stupidity.

In point of fact, I've attacked the very marginal group on the "right" of the TTRPG community, the "BroSR", who are blatant and explicit anti-semites. So, YES, I have made video statements about it. But once again, reflective of greater society, the anti-semites on the TTRPG "right" are a very marginal group that aren't even successful or influential among other conservative gamers, whereas the anti-semites on the TTRPG "Left" are some of the most influential people around, like for example the guy from Critical Role who donated tens of thousands of dollars to "charities" in league with Hamas.

GenCon has been lost to Radical Left activists. I don't like it, but it's just true. You cannot reason with zealots, so if you're not part of that crowd the only sensible course of action is to stop supporting it. Instead, support socio-politically neutral conventions and make sure to give feedback that part of why they're getting your dollars instead is because they don't discriminate. Smaller cons are hungry, and will definitely care to know what does/doesn't get asses in chairs at their event.

Criticizing the State of Israel is no more "Antizionism" then criticizing the CCP is anti-Chinese. Put differently; if one claims to be against Zionism, but endorses slogans such as "From the River to the Sea," then they're fine with the general principles, they just don't extent their principles to Jews.

They were so successful in a nearly-empty land that within 20 years waves of Arabs from neighboring lands (Egypt, Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, etc) immigrated as well for the opportunity the Zionists created. Those people would later turn on the Jews because they wanted their lands, and joined a genocidal war against them. The Arabs LOST the war they started, and over decades invented the myth that they were "palestinians".

I would argue, yes, the people who you take issue with being called Palestinians are being displaced. The Israeli government is blocking their access to resources, they have literally settlements in these contested lands, and they push farther every year. I don't care about this award, but anti zionism and anti semitism are not the same thing. Rabbi Rami M. Shapiro (Reformed Judaism) and Rabbi Yisroel Dovid Weiss (Ortodox Judaism) are two rabbis that I know of that are against the conflation of zionism and judaism, for example. You may criticize this policy under the view that "foreign policy views are no reason to remove someone from the award" if you want, but it is not anti semitism.

Funny how the two guys you mentioned are an ecumenical communist and a religious fanatic, the former having no real allegiance to Judaism and the latter only opposing Israel and Zionism because it is secular, and actually dreaming of having a fully-religious exclusively-Jewish Messianic state as he believes his religion prophecies. Meanwhile, people chanting about Zionists are also violently assaulting random Jews in the west now without bothering to check their views on Zionism, proving that protesting "zionism" is just a way to be anti-semitic while trying to claim you're not.

Token Jews with fringe positions shouldn’t be used to justify antizionism as not being antisemitic. As RPGPundit points out many of the so-called Jewish antizionists aren’t really antizionist. What they really are, are anti-SECULAR-zionists. They are religious zealots who want Israel to be a theocracy, and who the Far-Left would normally oppose, except they share a common cause in wanting the destruction of modern Israel.

I only review books that are sent to me. I've been gaming for close to 4 decades, and I have played all kinds of games. Games have to be pretty obscure for me not to know them, as a rule.
