Yes you are so right about the classism in Jamaica. As a Jamaican, who now lives in the USA, That's one of the things I dislike most about my country. I lived in Upper St. Andrew, and know so well the classism in Jamaica. Trust me the color thing is also a stain there, as well. My family lived in a very upscale part of upper St. Andrew, and affluent. However, we are BLACK, not brown or white Jamaicans. Our neighbor was a well known, wealthy white Jamaican. His daughter and I, were friends, and went to Hillel Academy in Cherry Gardens. My dad was more than able to afford to send my brother and myself there. Would you believe one day I was over my friend's home (next door),playing, and a relative of her came to visit. Would you believe the relative asked if I was the helper's child. Guess for what reason? So it's not only classism that is a stain on Jamaica. I was 8 years old then. I am now 50 years old, and remember it like yesterday. Take care.

You may not see it at the time, but as they say every disappointment is for a good reason. To me, the second place looked much more suited, cozy and right for your occasion.
