The camp was mostly a system to bring in marks and convince them that pro wrestling was real. There was a "real" camp inside the camp where Ole & Gene were training actual students. If someone showed up off the street for the "mark" camp, they might eventually be invited into the real camp. Al Snow's mistake was in not taking the hint and cooperating. If you get into camp like that and try to show how badass or how great you are, you are entirely missing the point. Kenny Omega had a vaguely similar problem at a Harley Race camp. If you go into a training camp with an obvious bad attitude, you are going to tend to get weeded out.
