Sailors were supposed to be the tough guys of world war two, and a girl who would date sailors might be considered a little rough herself. They are trying to chase this guy off, so they want him to think that he shouldn't date Susie.
I am 23 and I have listened to Frank Sinatra most of my life. Recently someone told me I look like gene Kelly and now I am on a RU-vid clips binge. The most entertaining deep dive I’ve ever went on
I have just found this movie and absolutely LOVE it. While watching this video, I found it hilarious that they dance all around singing the actual word "floozy." The writers were very clever!
Fun fact - This song wasn't written for this movie. It's been around since the 1920s, and this is a 'parody' of it. That explains how the characters came up with it so fast for the plot! I always wondered that!
I just love Sinatra! And Kelly! They're wonderful and funny. But in a wholesome way. People with this much talent, coupled with the oozing charisma, are rare. I love it when he's playing the piano with his butt! You'll never see that in a movie again! Lol
One of my favorite parts of one of my favorite movies of all time!! I particularly like the way they are so obvious about making up a ridiculous song on the spot, and they are so pleased with themselves when the lyrics come together. So corny, and so delicious!!
Fantastic! Absolute lyrical and melodic genius! Thanks so much for sharing yet another great clip from the great MGM musical era with Frank Sinatra and Gene Kelly.
Haha, this video will always remain one of my favourite videos ever. From the first time I saw it, I knew it was epic. Like others, I love the line "So in conclusion... beware of susion!" haha :) This is one of my favourite movies ever, starring two of my favourite stars, Frank Sinatra and Gene Kelly. Thank you so much for uploading it and allowing us fans of this amazing movie to re-watch it over and over again :)
Yes! I love the way Gene sings “for” at 1:58 too. Frank gets the deserved credit for keeping up with Gene’s dancing, but just the same, Gene was able to keep up with his vocals (as well as Judy’s).
A lotta talent, on that stage, between the two of them. I love these old musicals. I only hope many other's do, as well. We need these kinds of films in our lives. Life is just too grim without them.
I've been playing that video every since I heard the song three times a day so good I cannot get out my head

I love watching Gene Kelly wrinkle up his nose to make a face at Frank Sinatra. Sinatra was an only child and Kelly had four siblings, including two brothers. I think, in this movie, Gene Kelly taught Frank how to have fun making a movie. They became life long friends.
Extraordinary talent ...looove love gene Kelly movies ...un American in Paris gets his best performance actually all of them has magic in it ..no they don't create magic like this anymore it's impossible as u don't have a genius like gene Kelly and Frank Sinatra 2 masterpieces in their own mind league ..unique talent creativity at its best watch it anytime ...loooove it no words ..as I said I belong to this era ❤❤❤❤❤
I watched the full movie and when they are done singing, Susie starts crying and says it’s the meanest and Joseph (Gene) apologizes and says that he had no right to sing the song about her. Edit: he said he was the one who thought about it.
She was sad because they got rid of the guy who was a relative of someone from the show businesses and she could have a chance as a singer. They acted selfish. They said they got rid of him because they thought it was a date.
Iif you knew Susie, as we know Susie, Oh, oh, oh what a gal . She's not so choosy, no, not our Susie, Oh, oh, Susie is a lot of balusie.
