Same here C Gene has a fantastic voice and his music is great to listen to you never get tired of hearing his songs they have feeling and emotions in the words and how he presents them across even to listen to him as an older person he still sings with that passion and love ❤️
Whoever is reading this, we don't know each other and probably never will, but I wish you all the best in life and all the happiness in the world. I love songs Gene Pitney.Gene Pitney was a great singer. RIP Gene. 😢
I was so in love with my husband in 1960 And when they played this song I fell in love with him over again, we were married 60 years and he left me to go live with our precious Savior and wait on me to join him again ❤
I love your comment Joseph, you made smile & chuckle. 72 is my age also & I agree the 50's, 60's & 70's REAL MUSIC that stirred your emotions was "top shelf"! Take care & enjoy each day with Gods Blessings Joseph.
I would play this song over and over on my record player. There must have been a breakup somewhere in my life at that time because even now at 72 this song still pulls at my heart strings and takes me back to my tender teens. I loved all of GP's music but this one in particular is so special.
Dear Gene, 33 years ago I introduced you to my husband as we drove from GA to ME so I could meet his family on our 2nd wedding anniversary. I had your songs on a tape I copied from your album. He fell in love with your music. He loves us both still! Thanks for your soulful tones and the belt in the gut when you hit those high notes. I still get chills every time.
Gene Pitney had a priceless talent of conveying the emotion of love's pains, better than probably anyone. This song is timelessly beautiful. I first heard it while I was in grade school. It has never gotten old
I couldn't have said it better Tom. I was in grade school when this cam out too and I fell in love with his music. One of the most emotional singers I ever heard and I'm 64 now. His music, his voice is TIMELESS!!!!!!!!!!!!
My opinion, Gene Pitney was one of the great singers; this song in particular, pulled at your heart strings, made you feel that the love you thought you had lost could maybe be retrieved, with just one kiss. . .Gene was great.
I knew Gene when I worked for a Dentist in Rockville, Conn. Many years ago. He was a patient, and I was so nervous each time he came in. Always loved his music. Still do. I have a 45 rpm he signed for me in 1961. "To the Southern Belle I love with Every Breath I take".
My favourite singer .. I saw him twice live & he played to a full house & received a long standing ovation both times .. I have his autograph on a cd cover .. RIP Gene .. Best Singer Ever 💙⛪🥰🇦🇺
There's so much I could say about him but 1 . I grew up listening then loving his songs my favourite uncle won a talent quest because he sounded like him and so when died all the family had his albums. They make us smile and be happy its awesome
@@maxlomas2537 Is that the annual TalentQuest karaoke contest held in Laughlin, Nev.? I've competed a couple of times, but I don't sound anything like Pitney....but who does!?...lol.
What a great song. Loved it and brings back bittersweet memories from high school as I drove home with this playing on the radio one night back then. Was visiting a friend recovering from a minor procedure in the hospital. I decided not to pursue her anymore through my tears. Always hoped the best for her though. Gene Pitney was so talented and had a great and unique voice. RIP.
I remember hearing this song playing on the radio at my grandmother's house. It brings back a lot of good memories. Only love can break a heart, only love can mend it again. I like the lyrics and music, it still is a great song!!
This song touched so many people, especially young people just starting in life, just realizing how painful and deep the experience of love and loss can be to a young person.
Gene Pitney was one of our treasures in CT. We're so proud of his talents and his heritage here in Vernon and Rockville. I remember dancing to Only Love Can Break a Heart and falling in love all over again. Still recall those moments in my 70s when I play this song. ❤️
I'm in my 70's also. He's one of my favorites, we loved him here in Texas too. I hope you enjoy this music as I do on weekends. Ed in SA,Tx. stay safe.
I was always a fan and I live in Mass. I drive for a limousine service and one day I had to go to Edington, CT which is on the west side of Rockville. I was on my way to the pick up and I saw Gene Pitney Park. I had no idea he was from CT! It was very cool.
Only love can break a heart Only love can mend it again Last night I hurt you but darlin' remember this Only love can break a heart Only love can mend it again, hmm, hmm You know I'm sorry, I'll prove it with just one kiss Only love can break a heart Only love can mend it again Give me a chance to make up for the harm I've done Try to forgive me and let's keep the two of us one Please let me hold you and love you for always and always Only love can break a heart only love can mend it again Only love can break a heart only love can mend it again
This is a true song with true meaning to the words...only love can break a heart and only love can mend it again...I remember this song from when I was young...
In the mid 60's ...high school...in my bedroom...Gene was my shoulder to cry on. From this to Town Without Pity. ❤️🙏❤️ Love and miss you Gene! One of a kind! 😪
I'm 72 and for whatever reason this song makes me rememnence of days gone by and brings tears to my eyes because songs today will not be remembered like this and do many others😢
When I was a little girl, this song made me weep every time it came on the radio. And now that I am an old lady, I totally get that the words are oh so true. Thank you so much for your music.
I'm so glad Gene was alive when he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Over-deserved! His voice came through me like a whispering chime....and remained. I'm sending this video to the first boy I ever went out with, the boy next door....right now. He's ill...and this tune says it all best of that era of our lives. Thank you, Gene Pitney.
@Mookie Spindlehurst -- "he never recorded a rock and roll song in his entire life"? Hey, friend, try this one on for size (his first single), whaddaya say? -- ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-lZ4ZQPacNXU.html
no but i wish we did we could start all over and keep our rules & still have god in our schools & every place they took him out.. may be still have our good music with us also to keep our statues up to remember our history that our service men died for & to change our mistakes into good choices.
Only Love can break a heart " Oh Yes.. this is such a true song... Only love can mend it again.... Only Love.. can do this ... what a beauty.... Love you for always and always.. Only Love....
I remember having to walk out of a college class when my friend text me that he passed away..crying. I wanted to see him live and missed it. He died too soon :-/ Such a wonderful voice.
@John O She didn't word that well. She meant someone sent her a text that Gene Pitney died, and she had wanted to see him in a live performance, as he was still performing. Cause of death: Heart attack Date of death: April 5, 2006 Place of death: Hilton Cardiff, Cardiff, United Kingdom
I love his voice, nobody else could sing like him! I had always wanted to see him in concert, but never got the chance! Of all his music, this is my favorite. Gives me goosebumps!!!
I was only in third grade when Gene Pitney was cranking out hits. His vocal control was amazing. The background music did very little to support his singing. It was all him. Handsome and still much loved after all these years.
Z I hear you ,I love Gene Pitney too, I could listen to him all night especially since I lost my husband it brings back those beautiful memories we shared for such a long time together
Somehow this Pitney classic edges out the others as my favorite. It's a pity that Gene was not teamed up with another vocalist with heartache in her voice for some duets, namely Connie Francis.
I'm 68 now and I grew up with this man's music played often in our household. He had such a beautiful voice and as a young lad I fell in love with his music. I have an eclectic taste , even for some of today's music, but if I'm feeling a little down in life I always go back to listen to music by artists like Gene Pitney who could belt out tunes with the best of them.
This song makes me cry about my lost loves. I sent this song to my recent lost love. I thought the magic of this melody, lyrics, and golden voice would move her. If this song did not move her, nothing will. Time to mend my heart and live again.
I could put this on replay and listen forever... Thank You Gene Pitney for your wonderful voice, also to RU-vid for the precious gift of memories - precious today, priceless tomorrow
Saw Gene in 1984 - 20 years beyond his heyday - and was pleasantly surprised to discover that his voice was even more impressive 'live" than on record. He came across a very sociable gentleman.
