I wish that knowing Gene is clean and sober could offset how little respect I've got for him being a chronic womanizer. If I had been a successor to Ace Frehley in Kiss, I would do all that I could to make sure I could remain clean and sober myself. I started playing guitar in April 1995, and I had figured out before the following summer ended that drugs and alcohol wouldn't be for me, no matter how stressful the future would prove.

Give us a break Gene. They didn't want to sell underwear and toys to little kids. You pushed too much. Kiss lost their balls when Ace left. Maybe you could have pushed a little less. How the hell would being "harder" on them have helped? Money rules, right Gene?

Maybe, but they'd have got nowhere if he was in charge. Kiss would've achieved very little if what they've got today without Paul and Gene. Ace is cool, but wasted his talent. Ace went bankrupt despite earning what he did.

Honestly, I understand Gene's frustration with Peter and Ace's drug and alcohol abuse. They did do that to themselves, and it led to no good for them. I mean it's fun watching the old Kiss interviews where Ace is really buzzed and how it annoyed Gene and Paul. But... They got so into drinking that they couldn't function, and it was literally affecting Peter's drum playing. So I also can understand why Gene and Paul were so annoyed. But I have heard Ace has been sober for years, good for him.
