As I’ve told others here on RU-vid. I have fond memories. A TWA Constellation, on a flight from NYC-LAX is where my brother and I met and talked with Mr. Walt Disney.
A Marine buddy and I snuck aboard one of those Early Warning Connies (the one with the big dome on top), at the Da Nang Air Base in 1969. We were standing in the cockpit when we noticed a pair of AP's standing in the doorway with their side arms drawn asking us what the hell we thought we were doing in a top secret area? They told us we were under arrest and to come along. The Marine buddy I was with then said to the AP's "That's fine, but how are you going to explain to your superiors how you let us get on board this plane in this first place?" The two AP's looked at each other and then replied "Get the (blank) out of here and don't come back." Semper Fi.
I never get tired of watch a Connie in operation. I earned my Air Medal as crew member on an Airborne Early Warning version during the Vietnam Conflict. We also tracked typhoons around the western Pacific. Those 4 R3350-42s had plenty of power.
Watched it leave cno at 745 am Saturday and followed her on radar 24 all the way to Wisconsin. Just to have to divert to Madison cause a Tstorm was over Oshkosh. Lewis and Fighter Rebuilders, a beauty is reborn. 👍. 🇺🇸
