Very true. You are simply fighting for the protection of the Government and Royal Family. If you did not fight, they would be removed, but you and your family would obviously need to stay and work and provide for the economy. It's been the same since William I conquered us. The Romans. The Vikings...the list goes on. The working person still works regardless. We had French Kings who never spoke a word of English, yet the English language remained and nicked a few French words along the way. The soldier, however, dies. Russia hasn't even declared war on us and it's very likely that they won't even try as it's not economical for them to do so. We should stay well away from a war where America are pretty much pulling the strings of Ukraine and NATO on the back of an already failed war. It's not Ukraine's war anymore.

The Baltic countries are independent from Russia since after the USSR collapsed. They have also become NATO member countries and that is why Putin is annoyed and regularly threatens them. He has also threatened Sweden not to join NATO even though Sweden was never a Russian state within USSR! Putin has lost his head!

You have just aired an assumption that the invasion of Ukraine by an aggressive Russian despot has nothing to do with the UK. You are wrong, so let me explain a little. After the USSR collapsed after the Cold War and some of its former states became independent countries (like Ukraine) there was peace for a while. But since Putin became president in Russia it has been his ambition to recapture those independent Russian States and make them return to the Russian Empire under control of Putin's Kremlin! Three of those states are already NATO members (Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia) Also these countries of Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Slovakia, Hungary and Romania are neighbours of Ukraine where war is raging. Putin has already invaded Georgia and Chechnya (look at Wikipedia on the Wars in those countries with Russia). If Putin captures Ukraine, he has sworn to capture all the countries of Europe. UK is regarded as being part of Europe so you see now, why the War in Ukraine really does affect us, especially as we belong to NATO too?

It worked against the Soviet Union and it will work against the next set of Dictators who want to rule the world. If the west had taken similar action towards the Russian dictator in 2014 as they have now, there would not have been an invasion of Ukraine a year ago. Same as with Hitler.
