Went here for a severe concussion on my forehead when I was six. Fell while rocking in between some tables. I went to the emergency room but the concussion was so severe that I got transferred to the main hospital. Staff was very nice and kept me comfortable while testing me for anything more serious. Everything was good in the end, but I have a permanent bump on my head from it more than 10 years later. Thanks Phoenix Children’s!
I don't remember doing any pre-op when I had surgery in the early 90s. My parents and I went to the waiting room, and I played NES there until the nurse or surgeon came and got me. They took me by the hand, and walked me to the operating room. Times have changed I guess?
I never thought I'd have had emergency surgery until 25 when I collapsed from blood loss due to a bleeding ulcer. It's crazy every member of my "nuclear" family have had surgery , top being my dad who had brain surgery,.
i got a tonsillectomy at phoenix children’s hospital in january of 2021! everyone was super sweet and kind to me! my dad works here in neurology! i remember waking up to a very sweet nurse feeding me a slushy! they were all so kind and i 10000000% recommend pch for any reason! ❤️❤️
My son is 7 years old and has scoliosis and is gonna need surgery. Taking him to Phoenix children’s has been amazing the doctors and nurses are really rice and help us threw everything.
I've had a major surgery done to reconstruct the torn patella ligament in my left leg. I also had a couple other procedures done during this surgery because of some other orthopedic issues I had on my left leg. The overall reason I had the surgery done was to regain my ability to walk around comfortably because of having cerebral palsy on top of the problems I was experiencing with my left leg. It all started from dislocating my left kneecap in 5th grade, and I went through a total of 9 years of painful walking (which included chronic subluxation of my left kneecap and left knee arthroscopic surgery that didn't resolve this problem initially). Another reason why I had gotten the surgery done was to help with some of the orthopedic issues that have developed over time as a result of having cerebral palsy. I couldn't use crutches because I can't use my left hand very well, so I had to use a wheelchair. It's been almost 2 years since I had gotten the surgery and I am so glad that I had switched orthopedic surgeons because my pediatric orthopedic surgeon was not wanting to perform such a major surgery because of the amount of rehabilitation that I had to do and regaining strength. The orthopedic surgeon who I see now listened to my parents and I discuss this ordeal and he agreed that surgery was the best way to fix it besides physical therapy. He literally felt the pain I was feeling when subluxating my kneecap in front of him. He even X-rayed both of my legs instead of just my left leg because he was able to pinpoint what I was dealing with when seeing the differences between my left and right leg. However because I had turned 18 that year, I didn't see a child life specialist at all. I did stay overnight for a couple days and was even visited by a therapy dog. I have noticed that the girl in this video didn't specify what kind of surgery she was getting. There could have been a disclaimer saying that not all children who were getting surgery were going to see a child life specialist because it’s pretty likely that other older teens didn’t see them either.
I have had to have surgery 6 times. Three brain and three leg surgeries. All under general anesthesia. I was scared, but I was lucky to have understanding doctors help ease the experience talking to me while I breath through a mask
I have had this happen to me 3 times I feel so blessed I want to give thanks to the Phoenix children’s hospital they helped me through so much lots of love guys - Nataly Quintana
this video is really good as even that im not a child anymore but its nice to see that there is a nice video to help explain what kind of things that you could expect when having surgery in a way that children can understand and not be scared :)
I'm getting surgery on September 16 and will probably get another one shortly after that. This video has helped me not be scared for my surgery thanks! :)
I’m actually super nervous. I’m getting surgery tonight! And it’s my first time. I’ve watch this vid like 5 times, btw, I’m getting surgery for a new kidney. I’m SUPER SUPER SCARED. but this video help.
FairyGardens TV pretty good luck, I got them adhesive stitches, butterfly stitches I think they're called when I was 2 and fell off of a barstool hit my face off a countertop and had my teeth go through the skin under my lip...
I’ve never broken any bones, had any fatal injuries, never had surgery but......... I’ve been to the ER several times, had to wait for several hour just to go in once. I HATE WAITING!!!!! 😂 😠
The tip for going to sleep faster with general anesthesia (the mask) is to take a deep breath of the gas and hold it. Do that about four to five times and before you know it you'll be out like a light! Hope this helped anyone, and good luck with any surgical procedures you'll be having! :3
I've been in the hospital so many times. I had 3 leg surgeries, 5 shunt revisions, and I had my gallbladder removed. Those surgeries hurt like crap. I had eye surgery also to be able to see straight because it turned into a different direction which absolutely bugged the crap out of me. It wasn't as bad as the other surgeries. I had my gallbladder removed at the age of 14.
@@curtisallred7250 #44 is being scheduled...left shoulder went. 15 knees, gall bladder, hip, 2 neck fusions, etc. I still have one shoulder, one hip and an elbow that are original....18 screws to date.
When I was 5 or 6, my mom and dad lured me to the hospital by saying that my classmates were there for a field trip. I didn’t suspect anything. When we checked in and went to a room, my mom and dad let me watch the little tv they had there. I was calm even tho I hated the hospital. When a doctor came in, they said that they were going to put caps on my teeth. I didn’t know anything about the caps at that young of an age. When it was time for the procedure, they wheeled me away and put the anesthesia mask on. The next thing I knew, I was awake in bed eating a popsicle. That was the most calm I have ever been at the doctors. I can’t even get a needle without crying.
I live in Maine but I’m getting ready to have surgery but I would feel at ease if my niece is with me but my niece may start crying when she realizes she can’t go to the operating room with me. I had surgery a year and a half ago and my niece didn’t want me to leave. I don’t know if my niece could sense that I was nervous but when I got back she kept wanting to hug me. She was only an infant
Me to I’ve been in hospital 3 times to Anyways 2019/2020 When I’m watching a video like this I feel like I’m in the hospital (Edit) ty sm for these likes Ik it’s not a lot but this is the most
When you get surgery you don’t see feel or hear anything your asleep during an operation and after your operation is over they take you to the recovery area where you can wake up and they give you something to eat and drink and they might let you go home or they let you stay over night in the hospital
'as usual'...only doc/anesthesia/nurse are shown in surgery videos...it is the Surgical Technologist who: gathers ALL things needed for the surgery, checks their sterility indicators, establishes and arranges a backtable/mayo with ALL instrumentation (as if they were doing the case themselves), scrubs in to set up, gowns/gloves the surgeon and any others admitted to the sterile field, guards the sterile field from contaminations, protects the patient for infection control (sepsis can cause death), performs counts of items to prevent Retained Foreign Objects in the patient (lawsuits), basically knows the steps to each surgery and each surgeon's quirks.........but do not get compensated as they should. these are the staff you don't see when you are asleep! thank God for them.
Caroline Definitely. I live in Indiana, but this hospital seems like one of the best in the nation. I’ve heard of people traveling across the country for treatment
I had two endoscopies. The first in 2010 and come back positive. I was diagnose with celiac disease. The second one in 2018 and come back negative. I also have acid reflex disease. My GI doctor is Ramon montes and my anesthesiologist in 2010 was John Jones. In 2018 my anesthesiologist was dean smith :)
patrick walker -_- There is always some sort of bragger in every area of of life. And they won't have been major because having that many major surgeries in that amount of time isn't allowed. I mean to doubt you even have had twenty surgeries in that amount of time.
I got surgery before, because my pee hurted a lot. And I had urinary tract infection and it hurts, I do not only suffer at home, but I suffer at school and a public too. And I got surgery.
I was told that the little mask was giving me regular oxygen. I don’t think oxygen makes you lose your hearing and makes your vision go blurry. Turns out it wasn’t oxygen, it was a type of anesthesia. This is why I have trust issues lol
Take it from someone who has had surgery, when they give you the medicine through the IV, please, please ask for the medicine to be diluted with a saline solution or whatever they use, because if it not, The medicine will sting like no one freaking business!
